Everything was great. I only took a star off because there was no way to lock the front door from the inside (which is totally fine normally and probably helpful for some) but our son is 5 and autistic and not being able to secure an exit was very stressful. Other than that no problems at all. Great stay.

Perfect Beachfront Getaways

This house is so cute and located right on the beach… perfect location! The deck is awesome and a great spot to catch the sun rise and enjoy happy hour. We will definitely book again, highly recommend!

Good for a girls getaway

Reviewer Comments: Had a great time in this cottage, no dishwasher which i took for granted would be there, no functional grill despite the description of a “park grill” but we bought one and left it for the future renters, good for a quick stay on the beach though and comfy beds!

Only negative thing I would say is we were expecting a hot tub and dog run on the property. When our reservation was booked the description noted these were coming by our vacation date. This was the big draw for us but overall it was a nice property.

Charming Relaxation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This very cute and charming beach front cottage was perfect for a week of relaxation. The cottage is small with a dated kitchen but we didn’t mind as we spent most of our time on the beach..which is steps from the beautiful back deck, perfect for morning coffee or happy hour cocktails. My only criticism would be that it did feel like the place could use a deep cleaning, especially the rugs and under furniture. All that being said, we would definitely come back to Deja Blue and enjoy this house’s perfect location!

Cozy bungalow in a great location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Quaint little beach cottage that has been updated by blending old with new. The place has 3 small bedrooms with no closets but it worked fine for a couple with a dog. Where the house shines is the outside. The back and side deck are spacious with a couple of high tables to enjoy drinks and meals. There is room for some Adirondack chairs to relax at as well. The hot tub was great with great views of the ocean. Located close to many restaurants and stores.

Beach Vibe in OBX

I searched for a cozy cottage beach feel for my family to stay in Kill Devil Hills area and this really satisfied that beach vibe! Walkable to a few cafes such as Ashley’s Expresso!! The deck was so close to the beach and coffee with the sunrise was most relaxing. I’ve stayed at many rentals and I was disappointed right away when we arrived to find there was no toilet paper, no hand soap, not even a sponge. To travel afar and arrive to find that we needed to shop at 9:00 pm was not good. We also found a garbage container full from the prior renters which gave us no room for ours and the garbage pickup never happened on the scheduled days. We also reached out to see where the bags were for the cornhole game but did not get a response. Other than small complaints, the cottage is a perfect place to R&R and highly recommend if you like a quaint beach vibe. Bring your own beach chairs too!!

The outside space was awesome! The hot tub, and the cute furniture overlooking the beach and ocean were perfect. The things that need attention are; in the kitchen, there was an inadequate amount of silverware. There were only 5 forks. There are no closets or storage, but the cuteness and location made those things easy to overlook. Overall, this is a great place with a great vibe.

Location is great, being right off of the dunes, steps away from the beach. The house itself is really great. Very spacious. Kind of odd that there are no closets, but definitely not an issue. Well stocked kitchen. Could use more room for dry goods/groceries. Every cabinet is full of dishes. But again, not a big deal.Definitely a good choice of place to stay, and the price is very reasonable for all you get. Highly recommend!!

Reviewer Comments: the location was great use of the beach was good if you could get up the sand dune by the house.the windows in the house were hard to see out because they hadnt been cleaned in some time main part of the floor was clean but not underneath anything they could have told us you need to bring toilet paper and paper towel the outside looked like it was ready to fall down general appearance it was the second worst looking place in a mile

Reviewer Comments: The beds must have been donated from the white house when Lincoln was president, they are very noisy when you just sit on the edge of the mattress. There are no closets in the house, the bedrooms are very small, the kitchen is even smaller. The walkway over the sand dune behind the house is tall and very difficult to climb over, it doesn't look it in the picture. There needs to be tall chairs on the deck with a back support instead of small bar stools.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is in a great location - with easy access to the beach and you have a great view from the deck. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunrise each morning while drinking coffee. The house is somewhat dated, but functional - for example, the stove is unlevel, so when cooking food runs to one side of the pan. I give a lower mark on maintenance - for example, you couldn't open many of the windows because there were inches of sand between the window and the screen, and many other examples where sand had taken over (grill, gates blocked, etc). I am describing as I see, but overall, we had an enjoyable time and it was a good value for the money. It was just two of us and the dog - making this the perfect venue. It may be a little tight if you have more people.

Perfect Cottage for Families with Dogs

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Deja Blue was perfect. The cottage is was well maintained and has a wonderful wrap around porch, with great view of the beach on the other side of a small dune. The oceanside of the porch had a gate to close it off from the streetside. This permitted out dogs access to oceanside steps which went down in to an enclosed outside area under the cottage. This was an absolutely perfect set up for us with our 2 small dogs. No lease walking required.At one point during our stay there was an problem with the cable set up. We contacted Beach Realty and a maintenance guy was there within 15 minutes, and fixed the issue even less time.I would recommend this property, and do plan to stay there again.The only suggestion I would make is to have a couple basic set up items on hand like kitchen garbage bags.

A week at deja Blue

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cute house, definitely on older beach cottage. We arrived late on our check in day and when we went to empty house trash a few days out the trash can was full. Not really expecting to have to take trash out the night we arrived. Kitchen sink had no drain stopper which we were able to purchase at local hardware. Hot tub and porch were an asset and location was excellent. Couch in living room was visibly stained. Only 2 of us bet definitely a small home. Nails on far side of bed in beachfront bedroom which I caught my foot on several times, no hammer or house tools available. Price very reasonable and depending on what they were looking for might recommend house to a friend. Very basic home.

Great Location but needs some TLC

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: You cannot beat this location. It was perfect. I do have a few improvements. The property really could have been cleaner. There was a used washcloth left in the shower. Since there is no closets we used under the bed to store suitcases and under the beds was filthy to the point we cleaned before unpacking. The driveway and stair are overwhelmed with sand making it difficult to park. There were rusty bottlecaps at the stairs just waiting for someone barefoot. The outside shower is great but has badly leaking pipes and the shower head is very clogged. There is no top on the supercan so the garbage baked all day. Finally, the backdoor knob is very loose and about to come off. The place is really cosy with a traditional beach feel which we loved. I think this property would be five stars with a little more love.

It has no closets and tiny dressers so if you’re planning on using all 3 bedrooms, I don’t know where you would put your things but it was fine for just my husband and I. The weather ended up not being great the week we there so we spent more time in the house than we expected so here are our observations: instructions for the living room tv would be helpful, it took me a couple of days and some googling to find out the modem was off and you cannot watch without Wi-Fi. The worst part of the rental was the mattresses, they were the noisiest I’ve ever slept on. If you turned over there was squeaking and a crinkling sound like I’ve never encountered before. If our dog turned we woke up! All 3 bedrooms had the same mattresses because my hubby tried sleeping in a different room to get some rest and it was the same! All that being said, it is a cute, well appointed house and very clean and well maintained. The hot tub is nice but is not under cover of the deck so we could not use it in the chilly, windy weather (obviously no fault of the owners). We would stay here again if they get different mattresses lol!

Deja Blue review

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice house right on the beach. No dishwasher, only one bathroom. Nice new hot tub. Found a few bugs in house while we were there. Also when we checked in there were lots of flies, housekeepers probably left the door open. Unfortunately we had to deal with this. Location was good. Driveway was covered with about 6 inches of sand, so luckily we had 4 wheel drive on our vehicles, which helped. Looks like they are making improvements, new roof, I picked up quite a few rusty nails around the perimeter of the house. Watch your step, whenever I thought I had picked up the last one, I found another. Bathroom shower curtain had lots of mildew.
