Weekend getaway
It was the perfect weekend getaway! Peaceful, quiet, right on the water with the private dock(that our son fished off of). Neighbors were also very friendly!

Relaxing family vacation
We enjoyed a family vacation before our son leaves for 8 months. Even though it rained the entire time, we truly enjoyed the property and spending time together. Our dog enjoyed the deck and just sitting listening to the water. Great experience!!

Fall visit
Lovely home on the Neuse River. Quiet spot on a dead end street on the river. Nice deck and dock. Lovely sunsets and sunrises from the deck. Well equipped kitchen. I cut my foot on a large piece of glass walking in the water on the east side of the dock. Might be good to send someone with a mask to look for glass in the spring. I am sure it is not the owners fault that there is glass in the water. It was expensive to take our two dogs for a week but the fenced in yard was great. We would definitely return!!

Meh
We love using vacation rentals when we travel. We have also owned vacation rental property and took our responsibility as owners seriously to appropriately appoint, market, and manage the property. We feel this was not the case with this property. First and foremost, the photos in the listing make it look, as though there is a large parking area on one side of the house, in addition to parking under the house, which is common with piling houses. When we arrived, we realized the parking on one side of the house actually belonged to another property. The parking under the house was taken by a broken down jeep. The under side of the house was also really dirty, including a bucket with standing water and mosquitoes, other trash and the aforementioned jeep. All of this made parking our boat, very very difficult, which was the entire point of the trip. We ended up having to park our brand new boat on the side of the road, where the ground is really soft and unreliable. The property just overall wasn’t as clean as we typically encounter with the short term rentals. The downstairs bathroom smelled horrible, like mildew and mold. The towels were also really grungy, and I couldn’t tell if some towels were dirty or if they were just stained. We almost left the morning after we got there, but we had pulled the boat all that way so we decided to stay.
