About this property
Prospect Cottage Ballarat
Summary:
This fabulous and unique residence, once dubbed by The Courier as “The Tiniest House in Ballarat” is BIG in character, style and with all the modern creature comforts.
Prospect Cottage is situated within walking distance of the popular Sovereign Hill tourist attraction, Lake Esmond, Ballarat Wildlife Park with all Ballarat’s top attractions just a few minutes away.
Fur-guests (dogs only) are welcome, Prospect Cottage does not allow cats due to cat allergies.
The Space:
Prospect Cottage is a beautifully renovated miners cottage located in Ballarat’s oldest suburb, rich in history and the birth place of Ballarat’s Gold rush.
From the outside the cottage looks quaint and cosy. Large glass double doors open into a modern fully fitted kitchen complete with large 90cm electric oven and gas cooktop, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Enjoy complimentary liquid gold (coffee) from the delonghi nespresso coffee pod machine or french press. The kitchen is complete with all the home kitchen essentials; kettle, toaster, cutlery, glassware, crockery, pans, oven dishes, mixing bowls and utensils.
The Bathroom has a large walk in shower, toilet, vanity and stylish fittings with luxurious Salus toiletries complete with underfloor heating for the colder months.
The lounge has a smart TV with Netflix, coffee table, board games, books, new super-comfortable plush sofa, with a decorative nod to Ballarat and the Gold Mining era.
The bedroom has a luxurious king-size bed with feather and down doona for the perfect nights sleep. There’s plenty of robe storage for everyone - a smart TV, ceiling fan and plantation shutters.
The large back yard/garden is the perfect place to spend time around the large outdoor dining table under the festoon lights for a BBQ or a safe and secure place to leave your pet if you venture out for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Please don't leave pets unattended for long periods of time for their own comfort and the comfort of your neighbours. Pets must not be left unattended inside the cottage.
Conveniently located a short distance from Golden Point’s convenience store, bottle shop, laundrette and medical centre, Prospect Cottage is the perfect base within walking distance of Ballarat's top attractions, city centre, restaurants and bars.
The Neighborhood:
Golden Point is a suburb of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia located south-east of the CBD. It is the oldest settlement in Greater Ballarat.
The area was once known as Poverty Point. However, on 21 August 1851 prospectors John Dunlop and James Regan struck a few ounces of gold when passing through the area; the announcement of this discovery is attributed to sparking the Ballarat Gold Rush, hence the poetic name change. A historical marker for the location of the discovery is located in a reserve just off Clayton Street.
Golden Point was the site of what was known as the Ballarat diggings, and for at least a decade the focal point of the original Ballarat township was Main Street.
Getting Around:
Exploring Ballarat is a breeze, thanks to the well-connected network of roads and public transport options. Opting for self-driving is highly recommended as it provides the utmost flexibility and convenience. However, we are within walking distance of many of Ballarat's top attractions, landmarks and points of interest.
