This author's unique house is perfect for a relaxing holiday in a delightful setting in one of the best vistas in Venus Bay.
- The Space
You can soak up both the 'Luna' and the 'sea' by being close to the ocean and looking at the night sky through a huge, star shaped skylight.
Guests will NOW be able to enjoy the exciting addition of an elevated, transparent dome with full view of the open countryside and vast night sky.
Yes! Your own planetarium in Lunasea.
You will have a unique experience staying in this author's eclectic house.
Jo is also a creative artist in 3D format and invites you to enjoy the quirkiness of her abode. You will delight in her sense of colour and the ridiculous.
Wander around the garden and find numerous art installations, whilst enjoying your complimentary bottle of wine.
Both children and adults alike can take part in an outdoor scavenger hunt finding unusual items in the garden.
You will relax in a delightful, tranquil setting on the large deck at the back and take in an expanse of rolling hills, trees and passing wildlife.
You are only a short walk from the shops and the patrolled beach One and only 200 yards from walking/ cycling track to Tarwin Lower.
These are just some of the aspects of 'Lunasea'.
This is not just a lovely place to stay in, but a unique, visual experience.
If you like something out of the ordinary, something quirky and something unexpected, then this is the house for you to stay in.
The house has two bedrooms : one Queen room and one double / single bunk room.
There is one bathroom, an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, a split system air conditioner, wood heater, flat screen, new Smart TV, DVD, stereo, microwave, washing machine and large BBQ.
The floors are polished wood and you will delight in the enormous Tasmanian Oak, wave shaped dining table /kitchen work area. The large front windows and sliding doors are double glazed opening onto a large boat themed, front deck. You cannot miss the sculptured figurehead jutting out from the front of the bow!
You will have a memorable holiday in this author/ artist retreat and who knows in this atmosphere you may write the beginning of your first novel or simply feel inspired to return home and be creative in your own way.

Your Perfect Coastal Escape in South Gippsland
Around 2 hours from Melbourne, Venus Bay is a peaceful coastal retreat surrounded by unspoiled beaches, scenic landscapes, and a warm, welcoming community. With five stunning beaches to choose from—including the popular Beach No. 1, patrolled by the Venus Bay Surf Lifesaving Club in summer—there’s no shortage of spots to swim, surf, or relax by the ocean. For boating and fishing, Anderson Inlet is just minutes away, offering calm waters perfect for kayaking or simply soaking in the views.
The local First Estate shopping strip has everything you need: a general store (with groceries, takeaway, coffee, and a bottle shop), The Cavity restaurant, a pizza shop, ice cream and fish and chips and two real estate offices.
Looking to explore? Nearby towns like Tarwin Lower (6 mins), Inverloch (20 mins), and Wonthaggi (30 mins) and Leongatha (25 mins) can help with your shopping needs, other towns such as Foster (30 mins), Meeniyan (20 mins) and Fish Creek (15 mins) offer charming cafes, shops, and coastal sights. Around 45 minutes away, Wilsons Promontory National Park promises unforgettable hikes, beaches, and wildlife.
Don’t miss the spectacular Point Smythe Walking Track—a peaceful trail through coastal bushland with sweeping views of the Bass Strait and Wilsons Prom. It’s a haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers, and anyone looking to disconnect and breathe in the sea air.
Whether you're here for a quiet beachside break or an active outdoor adventure, Venus Bay is the ideal base to experience the best of South Gippsland. Discover why so many return year after year—Venus Bay is the coastal gem you didn’t know you needed.
When you leave:
Please leave the property in a tidy state. And please report any breakages to us prior to leaving as these must be paid for. Cleaners will come in and clean the shower and floors etc. after you leave - but the surfaces and dishes need to be cleaned and items in the house placed back where you found them.
I have created a seven episode series on my property on YouTube if you would like a sneak preview of some of the things you can enjoy on my property.
This series is a humorous look at my art installations with some honouring my muses Michael Leunig, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali and Leonard Cohen.
