We have one of the prime units in Plantation Hale, a quaint, two-story, laid-back condo complex with a superb location right across the street from the beach. Ours is one of the only units that was completely gutted and remodeled. We also have an ocean view.
Our closest neighbors are : * The Plantation Marketplace, a charming outdoor complex of shops and restaurants. It's a stone's throw away. * The Beachboy Hotel, with it's highly rated Hukilau Lanai restaurant and spa * Islander on the Beach * The Kilauea Fishmarket, the go-to place for delicious fresh fish sandwiches, wraps and entrees * The Sheraton Kauai Resort
And one of the very best things about our place is it's proximity to Ke Ala Hele Makalae, an eleven mile gorgeous path along the ocean for bikers, walkers and joggers.

Parking easy and close. Lanai big and faced east towards ocean. Bed and pillows mega-comfortable. Super responsive to messages on VRBO app. Kitchen well equipped. No trouble with access to shared laundry and bbq. Would definitely stay again
The condo unit is well equipped, very clean and in a supper convenient location, close to everything: beach, shops, golf course, airport. The sofa bed is very comfortable for third adult. The only issue we had is the pillows and king bed is too soft to our like, everything else is great! Thank you Micki for your hospitality!Martin

Thanks so much for the kind comments. I am so sorry to hear though that the mattress and down pillows were too soft ... I truly have only received compliments about the comfortable bedding up until now. I will stock some firmer pillows in the closet so guests have a choice from now on. I always worry more about whether the sofa bed is comfortable enough. Glad to hear that it was. :)
Great location. Convenient to shopping, restaurants, and most importantly, the ocean. The space was larger than I expected from the square footage (laid out well) and the owner included all the extras that we could have imagined. Will definitely want the same space the next time we are in Kauai.
The host was wonderful. She sent an email right after we booked with great suggestions for activities and directions to different places that were great. She was very accommodating. The property was clean and well maintained. It was quiet at night and is located well for access to the north and south shores.
We loved the location and really enjoyed the space. Thank you so much for a lovely stay- if we make it back to Kauai, we would love to stay here again!
Overall property and managers were great. Pros: right next to a shopping market, near a beach trail, bed comfortable, beach items provided, clean. Slight hiccups: key code didn't work, but luckily they had a backup key box, the soap provided ran out the first night. Owners super responsive about both. I would stay here again.

Our apologies for both issues. Our wonderful cleaning lady is now very aware that she needs to always check the levels of soap, conditioner and shampoo. It was an understandable oversight on her part. I’m glad you really liked everything about the condo and its location otherwise.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we had an incredible week! The condo is well stocked, very clean, and is in a great location. We loved waking up early to watch the sunrise on the beach, and Kapa'a is perfectly located to enjoy the sights of both the North and South shores of the island. Would definitely stay here again!

Such a great location, close to everything in Kapa'a and Wailua. The condo is in great shape and communication with Micki was friendly and responsive. Definite recommend!

This condo is quiet and comfortable. The building and grounds are clean and very well managed. The condo had everything we needed and is walking distance to the stores, farmers market, and the Ocean. We enjoyed the quiet swimming pool next to our building, The owners were wonderful, always quick to respond to any questions we had
I enjoyed my stay at this property and found it to be centrally located to everything I wanted to do on Kauai. I was very happy with everything that was supplied in the condo in particular in the kitchen, but for those that would be interested in beach equipment there was that too. I would definitely recommend the property to those going to Kauai for a trip.

Owners were very responsive and willing to help in many ways. Enjoying the kitchen for breakfast and fruit smoothies. Froze smoothies in Mason jars and brought on our outing for cool refreshing drinks later in the day. Lots of great beach chairs, umbrellas in closet.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Very well stocked and everything you need to just about anything. Walk to beach, restaurants and stores. Easy to get to the west and north sides of the Island. Great place to see a great island.

We have made Kauai our home for the past forty five years, but grew up in New York. Between then and now, we've also lived in Vermont, Maine, Mexico and Guam.
We have been married for 55 years (started dating in high school!) and have 4 children and nine grandchildren, most of whom -- yea! --- also live on Kauai.
Micki is an artist/designer who currently owns a store on Kauai, KIKO:simple goods (www.kikokauai.com). She was the former co-owner of the Sotheby's real estate office on Kauai. She is also a yoga teacher who doesn't teach and an artist who doesn't have time to create much.
Bill is a retired pediatrician and hospital administrator. He is currently working on a book about consciousness and just released a book about the hazards of pesticides.
They currently live just a few blocks from the condo because they too love the island's Coconut Coast.
Why they chose this property
Plantation Hale has always appealed to us not only because of it's low profile and old -timey feel, but also because it is fabulously located without the high price tag of its more ritzy neighbors. A long stretch of white sand beach is located right across the street (you walk through a meadow) from our unit. Plantation Hale's immediate neighbors are The Coconut Marketplace (full of shops and restaurants), The Sheraton, The Islander Hotel, The Kauai Coast Resort and the soon-to-be-built Hyatt. Each of these hotels also has restaurants and some have spas, all within an easy walk of our unit.
What makes this property unique
As soon as we bought the unit in the summer of 2016, we did an extensive remodel. I believe we are the only owners who removed the top cabinets that obstructed the view from the kitchen. We also removed a large floor to ceiling cabinet near the entry. This opened up the living room/kitchen area, making it feel much more spacious and inviting. Everything was either replaced, recarpeted or retiled. It now has a happy, fresh, open, tropical feel.
