Quaint cabin in a great location
We loved our stay at Upper Moonridge. The neighborhood is beautiful and you really feel like you are in the mountains. It’s so close to Bear Mountain resort as well which made it convenient. We still had to drive because we have young kids. But it’s completely walkable for an adult. The layout of the house is really nice. The only reasons it didn’t get 5 stars is it states that in one of the bedrooms it has a queen bed and a single. But the single is just a memory foam topper on top of plywood. It’s extremely uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep the whole first night because my hips were aching. It would be nice if they put a twin mattress there or just be more upfront about what it is. It’s not a real bed. Also be careful down the stairs at the top. A few of us slid out on them. It’s a little funky in that cabinets don’t close, there aren’t any overhead lights in the living room, and it’s in need of some upgrades but that didn’t bother us. The fireplace was lovely. Please note you will need to buy all of your own firewood and fire starter. The deck was completely covered in snow and fire pit covered but it’s so cold out there we wouldn’t have wanted to be there anyway. Playing in the snow and building a snowman and a sled run on the side was a real highlight! The views out the windows were scenic and couches comfy. Management was amazing! They were super responsive and gracious to give us late check out when we had a mishap with our car. It was such a blessing in a terrible situation. Thanks for a great stay!

Not as advertised
Our experience was very mixed. I will start off with the positive and that is that the management team for the facilities were great and very kind and responsive. With that being said, the house was not clean when we arrrived, the iconic shot of the outdoor pit area was frozen over in snow and un-useable. We had to spend a little over an hour cleaning the outside area so we could use the fire pit. Inside was not much better, the cabinets were dirty, the kitchen hood had dead bugs stuck to it and the all over the closets were messy. Additionally we did not have internet in the cabin the entire trip. They attempted to fix it but were not able to (internet was very important to us because I was working remotely). After that the dishwasher broke and spewed water all over the kitchen, the maintenance people came and fixed it but then left another mess with dirty/damp towels all over the floor that we, once again, had to clean ourselves. They offered us a change of cabin to a larger one, yet when we accepted that offer they took it back and instead offered a smaller cabin with less room as an exchange. The cabin was not ready to have quests over and it seems like it’s something they were already aware of which makes me wonder why they would then allow us to rent there. The beds are comfy, the hot water works very well and the living space is comfortable for our family.
