We paid 2,254 for a three-night stay, and this was the worst vacation rental experience we’ve ever had.Our vacation started with more than 30 minutes locked out because multiple access codes and even the lockbox key didn’t work. When we finally got inside, the property was not guest-ready. The floors, countertops, dishes, bathrooms, and outdoor kitchen were dirty. Two toilets were visibly soiled. We had to buy cleaning supplies and clean the kitchen, fire pit, picnic table, and other areas ourselves before we could use them. The problems continued: the hot tub was dirty, the refrigerator water dispenser didn’t work, the dock was dirty and sagging, parts of the deck were caving in, there were ant infestations, burned-out lights, inadequate air conditioning, poor bedroom privacy, inadequate bedding, and no glassware for drinks—only cheap plastic cups. Our stay was repeatedly interrupted by a plumbing leak, contractors, and maintenance visits. It felt less like staying in a professionally maintained vacation rental and more like staying in an aging second home where the lack of upkeep and reinvestment was apparent throughout. For a property costing over 750 per night, this was unacceptable. We documented the issues with photographs, reported them to VRBO, and cannot recommend this property.
