About this property
Rustic isolation near Capitol Reef National Park
Isolated, yet close to amenities. Newly updated home on 6.7 acres just off Highway 24. Only 4 minutes west of Torrey restaurants and other services. Surrounded by open space with spectacular views of Thousand Lake Mountain, Boulder Mountain, and the Henry Mountains. Nearest neighbor is over a mile away! There's a fire pit and charcoal grill when the urge strikes to cook outside, or just to stay warm by a fire under the stars. No neighbors = no lights = great stargazing. Great photos in all directions too!
Bright, open kitchen and dining area with access to the deck. Kitchen was remodeled in 2023 and equipped with new appliances.
Great for kids with lots of space, toys, and a ping pong table in the game room. Older stereo (teach your kids what cassette tapes are!) and new 48" tv plus dvd player. The antique tv and radio in the living room don't work, but can contribute to the history lesson too.
Great bike or ATV rides, nature walks, and trail runs right out the front door (amazing 17 mile road bike loop under the Cockscomb or ~12 mile running loop on the old dump road), and of course Capitol Reef National Park and many many other natural wonders are within easy reach with a short drive. The bike loop was the last 2 laps of Tour of Utah stage in 2016.
Torrey has both seasonal and year-round restaurants within 2 miles. Good pizza, burgers, southwestern food and coffee shop all within a quick drive.
Relax and let our home be your home base for appreciating some of Wayne County's natural wonders.

We have a wonderful stay. The house is close to Torrey and Capital Reef, but also secluded. The house is comfortable and cozy and have everything we need. We enjoy watching sunrise from the front of the house, the extensive CD collection and relaxing at the patio.
We loved our stay at this property. The house is older, but comfortable and clean. It was a great set up for families. The kitchen had been renovated and was modern and well stocked if everything we could have needed. The game room in the basement was perfect for kids and for a family movie night. There was ample space to run around outside. Close proximity to Capitol Reef National Park made the location ideal.
Great location to explore Capitol Reef from. We didn't hang out in the house that much but it was cozy when we did. Plenty of space for a family of five. We weren't able to get the lower shower to work, but with two other showers it wasn't a problem. And did run through the hot water one day after returning from hiking with 5 showers right in a row. Minor issues overall and we had a great stay.
We appreciated the personality of this family home. Our hosts were very responsive and we enjoyed the house and location when not at Capitol Reef. The house offers a full kitchen and several spaces to relax and enjoy both inside and out.
Great rental in a great location! We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our time in "rustic isolation" immensely. Lots of space and in particular we note there are 3 bathrooms to go with the 4 bedrooms. The house is down a dirt driveway off the main road, but the road is in good shape. Sean sends maps to help find the driveway which make things clear (be sure to look at them!). Views to the cliffs and mountains were amazing, both from inside the house and from the deck. Very comfortably furnished. Kitchen well supplied and we did cook several nights. Although isolated, the property is only 5 minutes drive from Torrey with a surprising number of restaurants for such a small town. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return on a future vacation.
Great property for a group of friends or a family. Kitchen is very well appointed and we really appreciated the supply of spices, coffee, utensils, and dinnerware, etc, to make meal preparation easy. Beautiful views from the house and of course, there’s nothing like staying in the red rock canyon country of southern Utah. There’s countless great hikes and mountain biking nearby plus Capital Reef NP only 10 minutes away. The hosts were very responsive and made for an easy comfortable stay.
This property is as secluded as advertised and access to Capitol Reef NP is within minutes. We loved the location and the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Excellent location. This was a comfortable, family-friendly home. It had everything we needed plus more. It was much more than a typical vacation rental.
Amazing place. This was our second time staying here and we loved it just as much. The host could not be nicer, have better communication and flexibility. They were very accommodating when I messed up on the reservation. The area has so much to offer! We will definitely make this an annual thing if we can!!
Great property to watch the night sky!The kitchen was well-stocked and comfortable to work in -- table for serving was close by, so it was seamless for making meals.
This property is just what we were looking for. It is centrally located to some beautiful hikes and drives, it had an amazing retro decor (with cassette tapes), and was well stocked. They had food bowls for the furry friends and a great yard for exploring and walking the dogs. Thank you so much for letting us stay here, I am sure we will be back again!
Great home for our family's Christmas get together! All the pots, pans, and mixing bowls we needed for our Christmas dinner was there. Kitchen was well equipped and newer. There were several sitting areas so we could spread out and not all be confined to one room. The ping pong table was a lot of fun! It was remote enough to be peaceful & quiet but also close enough to Capitol Reef National Park and several gas stations. We saw so many stars and the Milky Way! Would recommend! Host was very responsive and gave clear directions to get to the house.
Great house, great location, great hosts, great for pets...

We've really enjoyed updating this home and getting to spend time in Wayne County while doing it. The boys have helped too and learned about the value of working with your hands - see if you can spot any of their handiwork.
