About this property

Charming Country Cottage - Family Friendly Stay in Ballarat

Welcome to your cosy Ballarat base – a delightful crooked little cottage brimming with warmth, character, and everything you need for a relaxed family escape. Just minutes from the heart of Ballarat, this lovingly maintained home is perfectly positioned for exploring the region’s rich gold rush history, vibrant arts scene, and local wildlife wonders like Sovereign Hill and Ballarat Wildlife Park.

Whether you’re in town for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, this charming cottage is set up for comfort and convenience. With three comfortable bedrooms and a fully equipped nursery, it’s ideal for families – especially those travelling with babies or toddlers. No need to pack the portacot, high chair, or toys – we’ve got you covered!

Inside, the home blends quirky heritage charm with modern comfort. You'll find a spacious lounge with plush seating and a TV, a separate dining room that flows out to a leafy backyard, and a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials for home-cooked meals – including an oven, stovetop, microwave, and plenty of cookware.

The cottage stays warm and snug even in the middle of winter thanks to ample heating and cosy blankets. All beds are made up with hotel-quality linens for a restful night’s sleep.

Sleeping arrangements:
Bedroom 1: Queen bed
Bedroom 2: Single bed
Bedroom 3: Single bed
Bedroom 4: Nursery with full-size cot, change table, and toys

There’s a sparkling clean bathroom with a shower, vanity, and toilet, plus a second toilet and an internal laundry with a washing machine for your convenience.

The home’s quirks – like doors that don’t always shut quite perfectly – only add to its character. Guests have noted these small things were never a problem and just part of the charm of staying in an older, lovingly preserved home.

Step outside and enjoy the peaceful back garden, or stroll around the corner to Skipton Street’s local cafes, bakeries, and takeaways – with one guest-favourite being the CaaWaa Chinese Restaurant.

Why guests love it here:
Sparkling clean and well-stocked with thoughtful extras
Fantastic central location – everything is a short drive away
Super family-friendly with full nursery setup
Warm, inviting and full of old-world charm
Seamless communication and easy check-in/out process

When you stay here, the entire home is yours to enjoy. We simply ask that you follow our few, easy house rules to help us keep the space sparkling for future guests. As proud members of Good to Book, we’ll run a quick name check – no stress if you’ve been good!

House Rules
To ensure a pleasant stay for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
Be Nice: Treat our staff and contractors like the rockstars they are.
Smoking: Allowed only outdoors, away from doors and windows. Don’t worry, the plants won’t mind.
No Firearms: Leave your slingshots and cannons at home.
No Fireworks: Because we don’t want your holiday to end with a bang (literally).
No Illegal Activities: We’re not running a crime drama here.
Keep It Down: Channel your inner ninja and keep noise levels reasonable.
Guest Limit: Only the number of guests listed in the booking can stay overnight. No sneaky sleepovers.
No Parties: Let’s keep it cosy, not crazy.
Pets: Only dogs are allowed at our properties, and only with prior approval. Check the listing for specific pet rules—Fido deserves a holiday too, but only if we've given the green light!

Upon Check-Out
Dishes: Wash and put away. Pretend you’re at home and your mum is watching.
Turn Off: All lights, heaters, and coolers. Help us save the planet.
Pet Cleanup: Don’t leave us any surprises.
Clean BBQ: If you used it, give it a scrub. We love a good BBQ, but not the cleanup.
Trash: Put it in the correct bins outside. Channel your inner recycling guru.
Linens: Don’t wash them. Seriously, we’ve got it covered.
If these rules are broken, we may have to cancel your stay with no refund. We really don’t want to do that.

Ballarat Half Marathon 2025

The house was great. I stayed with my adult son. Only 2 of us and there was room for more of us. I would recommend the house. The communication with the managing agent was courteous, professional and efficient. A late check out would have been much appreciated so we could shower after our event and not check out at 7am before the event - especially since the cleaners came after lunch (I saw when I picked up my car).

Family Ballarat getaway

Great property for our family during our basketball tournament weekend. Was close to all stadiums. Very comfortable and warm. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Great location, cute house but beyond cold

The location is great the house is cute and well set up but not a place to bring little babies. We brought our twin boys and the house was freezing cold, the split system died the second night we were there and the fire place was only fit to heat the main room. The owner left portable heaters and we had to pile everyone in the same room to keep warm. The doors dont close or jammed shut which left it hard to put kids asleep. One of the rooms smelled badly of dampness. The house would be ideal in nice weather but its cold, damp and drafty for this time of year. Loved ballarat but wouldnt stay there again.

Weekend in Ballarat

Beautiful little house to stay in for the weekend visiting Sovreign Hill. 3 bedrooms plus a 4th set up as a nursery. It was bliss not needing to bring a portacot, highchair or any of the other baby stuff. It was all here. So clean and lots of lovely inclusions such as butter, hot chocolate sachets etc. Another review mentioned some of the bedroom doors don’t close but we didn’t find this a problem. There are cute little weighted bags and we just used these to stop it swinging open. Things like this are par for the course with older character accommodation. The driveway and carport between the house and next door’s accommodation seemed to be used by either property, which we weren’t expecting. Just be aware you may not have off street parking if next door parks their car in the carport. There is ample street parking out front. Highly recommend nearby CaaWaa Chinese Restaurant for a quick takeaway dinner option- delicious food. 1 walk through the fruit market carpark to Skipton St Bakery Cafe for a nice morning coffee. We would not hesitate to stay here again. It had absolutely everything we needed and was lovely and clean. Many thanks for having us.
