About this property
Right on the slopes/trails!
The best amenity of this condo is location! Out the back door of the building and you are literally within steps to the Right of Way ski run or ZigZag hike/bike trail. This is a true ski-hike-bike-ride in/out property; no long stretches of trying to propel yourself along with your poles on an access trail like some advertised ski-in/ski-out properties!
The location means taking a break from the slopes or trails is super easy, to grab lunch, warm up, etc. No shuttles or long walks to get back to the place. You can kick your feet up after a solid session on the mountain, rest up, and then head out again. Everyone in the group can come and go at their own will and preference with this kind of convenience. From the balcony you can watch skiers, hikers and bikers move on by.
From the back door, it is an easy few minutes on your skis, board or bike, down to the base to catch the gondola, or an easy walk to base area shops and restaurants.
The condo has a full kitchen, cable tv, balcony facing the mountain, 2 bedrooms (one room with a king, one room with queen/twin bunks), sleeper sofa in living room, gas fireplace, wifi and all of the usual cooking and relaxing amenities needed for a comfortable stay in the mountains (coffee maker, board games, etc).
Building amenities include a hot tub, outdoor gas bonfire-style fireplace, and coin-op laundry facilities are located one floor below.
The summary: the location can't be beat. Storm Meadows East was one of the first complexes to be built on the ski mountain. As an older building, its units don't have some of the modern day luxuries or amenities of new condos (e.g., it has a shared washer/dryer), but the upshot is it provides a less expensive option to be right on the mountain -- other units with higher end finishes and amenities can cost upwards of twice the amount as this unit.
The condo has what you need, it's updated, and it's comfortable. If you're here mostly to spend some time outside, easy-going about an older building and need a simple, affordable place to sleep each night with tons of convenience to the mountain, this is the place. If you want a higher level of luxury or prefer something that feels being more spoiled or catered to, you probably want to check some other options.
I purchased the condo in Dec 2016, and have made a number of updates to bring it a little more into the current century. It's comfortable and cozy, and if you're imaginative enough, there's parts of the place that can be nostalgic, but keep in mind it is a building that is 50+ years old.
A partial list of other amenities for an enjoyable stay:
Board games
Cable TV in main room and master bedroom
Gas fireplace
Sofa sleeper
Linens
Partial list of kitchen amenities (beyond the usual dishes, pots/pans, utensils):
Coffee maker
Blender
Slow cooker
Food processor
Hand mixer
Recommendations for restaurants: Creekside and Wynonas for breakfast; Mahogany Ridge and Salt & Lime for happy hour; E3, The Laundry and Sweet Pea for dinner. The city bus service is free, as well as easy to figure out; the nearest stop is just a few minutes' walk.
Steamboat is a great mountain, and an even better town. Come visit!

About the host
Hosted by Brett Bruyere
I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, about 150 miles east of Steamboat. I love it in Steamboat -- the millions of things to do outdoors, the easy going vibe of the whole place, and the abundance of sunshine. I'm from the Northwest originally, but these days I'm addicted to the sun, outdoor amenities and simplicity of life in the Rockies.
Why they chose this property
The usual cliche: location, location, location. This is truly a ski-in/ski-out -- within 50 meters of the back exit of the building is the Right of Way run and ZigZag hike/bike trail. No shuttle rides or epic-level efforts or working up a big sweat to get to the trails.
What makes this property unique
You'll love sitting on the balcony at the end of the day watching skiers, hikers and bikers go by.
