Clean room and worked for what I needed it to. It's old. The floors are super old wood which is kind of cool but there are also small holes in the floor so just make sure you like the old-school charm that comes with antique floors. Thanks for the stay!
The prospective guest need to be told about the stairs PRIOR to booking. Those are no joke. We are runners and we struggled with the steepness and closed-in feeling - especially those going up to the third floor. That absolutely needs to be mentioned in the listing. We discussed how if our parents had rented it they would not have been able to make it up them. When we arrived we debated leaving and getting hotel in Grand Rapids instead but since we had paid for it we stayed. The bed is lousy, loud and old. The couch/futon is very uncomfortable. The TV… it doesn’t move so the only way to see it is to sit on the uncomfortable couch. The room not having windows that open and it being on the top floor of an old building with all those stairs made it very claustrophobic. We rented to visit family and it was all that was available. Location was great-loved being able to walk to get coffee, dinner and just enjoy downtown Lowell. But the listing must get updated with appropriate verbiage about stairs and the bed and couch need an upgrade. I would go back to Lowell in a heartbeat, however I would not rent this place again.

Small Town Main Street Loft Apartment
Check-in was easy. The friendly host sent us a text message with the code. We loved the small town, Main Street location, and we stayed there to visit major attractions in Grand Rapids. After our sightseeing, Lowell was on our way home. The apartment was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The shower was outstanding.
Although the room was clean there was the distinctive smell of stale cigarette smoke and they chose to mask it with a deodorizer. The 2 windows do not open either so it was slightly unpleasant and there wasn't much to do about it but put the deodorizer under the bathroom sink and that helped a bit. The air conditioning was on when we arrived with a pretty loud fan. We could not turn it off. We tried halfheartedly 2x and once we looked up the model of the unit and STILL it didn't stay off. The couch was so uncomfortable! The bed was uncomfortable and it creaked and moaned with any small move. The sheets were washed with fabric softener and I know some folks like it, but my boyfriend and I both dislike artificial smells.it also irritated my boyfriends skin. 2 flights of stairs up to the 3rd floor. more than I was expecting! The location was fun. It was nice to walk out onto a sidewalk and go to a bakery, a free outdoor Tom Petty Tribute band concert and walk along the river. Downtown Lowell is improving all the time. I liked the brick wall. The bathroom sink had rust in the basin. Overall, this location is overpriced. The first time I looked it was priced at 99/night and I thought that was OK. the next time I looked, it was doubled in price. I thought I would still try it since we liked the location. All the disappointing things about this property are the things you can't tell until you are there, hence this review.

Disliked: Amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Listing has incorrect information about keyed access. When correct information was shared, the coordinator did not actually do as expected - deliver the code for the door. I emailed and left a voicemail and ended up asking for help in the Spirits store. I did get the correct information at that point - but it was very awkward.
At 11pm the actual coordinator texted me and said she “hoped everything worked out to get checked in” she was busy with a birthday party. Check in was at 3. So 8 hours later the person whose job it was to give me a door code reaches out?!?!
Stairs leading to the 3rd floor are little better than a ladder - extremely steep and wooden with the treads barely being 7 inches? The stairwell stinks.
The room was generally as pictured.
There was no extra anything - no extra towels (there were 2 total), no bath mat outside the shower, no extra blanket, bedding was worn, and no spoons in the utensils. The “treat basket” (which is a nice touch… when done well) has 2 sleeves of peanuts - and it could hold about 20 so just looked pathetic.
The bed itself was uncomfortable.
There was open food in the cupboard.
The oven was on when we arrived and so the room smelled of natural gas.
The coffee pot did not work.
The AC was extremely loud and barely worked - which may explain the thin bedding…? The AC unit on our second night started making extremely loud noises but not actually blowing air.
I would not recommend if you have breathing issues or mobility concerns.

Response from Cozy Lowell Studio ~ 19 Mi to Grand Rapids! on 19 Sept, 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear the room was as pictured, though we regret that aspects of your stay did not meet expectations. We followed up with the owner, who would like to address the following:- We are working with our partners to update the listing details about access to avoid future confusion, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience at check-in.- The building is over 100 years old, so while some features, such as the staircase, reflect its historic character, we understand it may not suit all guests.- Standard linens and towels are always provided, and your comments about amenities and the welcome basket have been noted for review.- We’ve also followed up with our cleaning team regarding the oven and confirmed the AC unit is being serviced. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to continue improving the guest experience.
Such a cute lil spot. Super clean, comfy bed. The pillows aren't good, but that's my literal only complaint. Great location, easy walking distance from a number of bars and restaurants.
