About this property
The Wine Shed, Martinborough
Welcome to our haven. Just five minutes walk from the cafes and restaurants in Martinborough’s Memorial Square but surrounded by vines, this is a quintessential Martinborough retreat.
Our home is made up of two buildings. Bookings for up to four guests include use of the Wine Shed only. Bookings of 5+ guests include use of both the Wine Shed and the Lodge.
The first building, The Wine Shed, contains two generous bedrooms (one en-suite), furnished with comfortable Queen sized Ecosa mattresses. A mezzanine level with a sofabed provides a flexible space, usable as a kidzone or for a third Queen-sized sofabed. The living, dining and kitchen area is huge and a wood burner provides atmospheric heat for a cosy night in.
The second building, The Lodge, is an architecturally designed self-contained minor dwelling, finished to the highest spec. It was completed in December 2025. It contains a further two double bedrooms, two microcement bathrooms (one en suite), and a gorgeous birch-ply living area with kitchenette. Polished concrete floors and the finest fixtures make this a truly luxury home.
The two buildings are separate but immediately adjacent. The arrangement is perfect for two families, for a group of friends, of for a single family with grown up children.
Outside is a working vineyard, first planted in the late 1980s and still producing top-class Cabernet. Sit and have your coffee on the terraces in the morning sun, fire up the Weber barbecue for an alfresco meal, or have sundowners in the vines as the sun sets. If you’re feeling more adventurous, bike to the wineries or wander into town for superb coffee, restaurants, and local shops.
Relax, indulge, enjoy.
Martinborough needs no introduction. Colonial charm meets hipster cafes meets top class restaurants and some of the best wines in the world. Fancy a Pinot Noir? Ata Rangi is nearby. Prefer a natural wine? Just cross the road to let Lance Redgwell pour you some of New Zealand’s best at Cambridge Road. Then have dinner at one of the many fabulous restaurants on offer less than 5 minutes walk away. If you fancy a drive, go south to the coast: go fishing or walking where Lake Ferry meets the sea, or visit the gorgeous village of Ngawi. Drive north, go shopping in Greytown, swimming in the Ruamahanga, take in some art at Aratoi in Masterton or try your hand at mini-golf.
The Wine Shed is bliss. Take a weekend. Or a whole week. You won’t regret it.
NB: Bookings for up to four guests include use of the Wine Shed only. Bookings of 5+ guests include use of both the Wine Shed and the Lodge. As this is a working vineyard there may be short periods when workers are present in the vines or a tractor is in use.
NO PARTIES, NO OUTSIDE NOISE AFTER 10PM
