Private Dog-Friendly Cabin in Lake Lure – Lakes & River Access

Mountain Lake Escape – Peaceful Cabin Retreat in Lake Lure

Nestled in a tranquil, wooded gated community in Lake Lure, Mountain Lake Escape is the perfect sanctuary for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Tucked away on a quiet lane, this cozy cabin feels worlds away, yet modern conveniences are just moments away, inviting you to relax within nature’s embrace.

Begin your mornings on the deck, wrapped in a blanket with coffee in hand and seasonal views of Mirror Lake. Evenings glowing with conversation and a glass of wine by the fire pit make this space a favorite gathering spot. Inside, comfortable memory-foam mattresses dressed in soft luxury linens promise restful nights.

The kitchen is fully appointed for meal prep and casual dinners, with everything from stainless steel appliances to all the necessary tools and cleaning supplies. A washer/dryer, iron, and ironing board make longer stays effortless. You’ll also find thick bath and beach towels, a generous shampoo-conditioner-body wash dispenser, and a welcome bottle of wine as our treat.

Family fun is baked in—play foosball in the upstairs loft, explore an on-site treasure hunt (available year-round for all ages), or enjoy board games and DVDs, including Dirty Dancing, filmed right here. Streaming Netflix is simple with our Roku TV and Starlink high-speed internet.

Adventure awaits right outside your door. Although not lakeside, the property grants access to two private lakes and the Broad River via nearby public parking—great for paddleboarding, tubing, or riverside lounging. We include two paddleboards, life jackets, and inner tubes for your enjoyment.

Explore beyond the cabin—you’re minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and its dramatic trails. Or zoom through the canopy at Canopy Ridge Farm’s zipline park. The area also offers mini-golf, scenic hikes, charming restaurants, wineries, and spa escapes. Asheville is just an hour away, and Hendersonville a quick 30-minute drive—ideal for day trips or indulging in arts, dining, and shopping.

When day gives way to night, return home to comfort and quiet among the trees. Mountain Lake Escape isn’t just a place to stay—it’s where adventure and relaxation meet, where memories are crafted under mountain skies.

Dog friendly happy place!

We loved our stay….everything was easy from check in to check out and the house was super well stocked with all the essentials! The property is very well set up for dogs. Close proximity to all the good areas, and the Lake was very clean (although cold and rainy). Beautiful scenery and the Nature walk near the waterfall is a must. Karen was a great host!

Beautiful and serene. I didnt see another person the entire time. Just how i like it! Bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Everything one could need to whip up a gourmet meal was at my fingertips. Great hosts, quick responses, lovely home for those who consider their 4-legged traveling companions creature-comforts a tip priority.

Great place

Very pet friendly! Made it easy for dogs to potty outside with fenced in yard. We did have an unknown wild animal visitor after finding the chairs knocked over and trash in the yard one of the mornings, so be aware

Family Getaway

Our family had a wonderful time at the cabin! It was the perfect place to unwind as a family. We paddle-boarded, swam/lounged on the beach, explored the trails, and hiked Chimney Rock. The house was clean and well-maintained, and the owners were very responsive and organized. Lake Lure and the small surrounding towns are hidden gems. Thank you, Karen, for letting us stay at your place!

Pre-Anniversary Vacation

We have stayed at this property in the fall, but couldn't wait to get back during the summer months, when the water was a little warmer. We really like the location, the proximity to everything needed and the wildlife. We saw deer and rabbits on or around the property everyday. Our daughter just loved being this close to nature.

Cozy cabin in the forest

First off, Karen is the most gracious and accommodating hostess. She was so responsive to my inquiries and checked up on us. The cabin was a little tricky to get to, but I blame that on us being from flat Texas and unused to hilly terrain. But we got the hang of it. The cabin was so quiet and relaxing. Everything we needed was already in the cabin. Very pet friendly. Our furries loved it. We did day excursions to hike and shop. Great area and great place. I would highly recommend.

Beautiful setting and cabin!

My husband and I and our two dogs visited for a long weekend and highly recommend this cabin. It caught my eye because it's dog-friendly. The cabin is located in a private, gated community that is very wooded and natural - there are plenty of places to walk (if you like hills!), lakes with a private beach and a nature walk. The cabin itself was super cozy and cute. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom, wood-burning fireplace and well-equipped kitchen. Karen was terrific to work with and very responsive. Definitely recommend staying here!

Cozy cabin with gorgeous view

I booked this cabin several months ago for a girl's weekend. We looked online at the pictures and thought it looked beautiful but the pictures alone do not do it justice. We loved how the owners have carefully taken attention to detail in making this cabin as cozy and comfortable as possible. All of the creature comforts we needed were provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved the gorgeous views as we sat on the very comfortable egg chairs on the deck. Will book again!

Love staying in Riverbend

The cabin is very nice and the location is excellent. We have stayed in Riverbend before, but being on the side of the swimming lake was great!! We really appreciated the ability to use floats and chairs! Nice firepit in the front yard and the fenced in run with the gated porch is perfect for most dogs (our 9 pound mini could get out, but she is fine on a leash). I thought the listing said lake view, but we could not really see the lake from the porch. Maybe in the winter you would see more, but when the trees are full, there really is not a view. That is the only reason for 4 and not 5 stars.

Amazing

Quaint, Private, Quiet - Are all words I’d use to describe this incredible cabin. My family and I had a wonderful experience at this mountain lake escape. We felt like it was the perfect size for our family of 4. Our kids loved the loft, while I spent as much time as possible by the fire pit or fishing. Karen and her husband provided us with all the information we needed to settle in and see the nearby sights. Their cabin and the experience they provided went beyond our expectations. We will be returning soon.

Just what we needed!

Karen was a fabulous host, constantly making sure everything was perfect from things to do in the area to helping us with potential road closures due to Hurricane Michael. Great retreat for the entire family including 2 year old and 2 small dogs. Close proximity to quant little mountain towns/attractions and the fire pit and fire place made it a perfect spot to relax in the evenings and watch a movie. The Verizon Mifi was a lifesaver for anyone who needs internet connection for a tablet or laptop. Would recommend to anyone looking for a little R & R. PS the beds are super comfortable! Thanks!

Great!

Perfect little cabin! There are many little lakes within the community and a quick drive to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The cabin was spotless and so cute. The attention to detail was impressive. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you could need and the bathroom had extra shelves and plenty of towel hooks (which frankly, isn’t usual for rentals!). My son and I had fun playing football in the front yard, spotting hummingbirds and deer. We also had fun watching movies from their large collection of DVD’s. If you’re considering staying here, just go ahead and do it!

Spring Break Trip 2017

We had the best time! The cabin was in perfect condition and all the little details from providing laundry and dish detergent (and more!) to having some hot chocolate waiting for us on arrival really made us feel welcome. My kids (3 girls- aged 8, 10 and 12) and our two dogs had a wonderful time exploring the woods around the cabin and having a fire every night in the fire pit (cut wood provided which was so nice!). It is very secluded- I think 2 cars drove by our house in 5 days. About a 2 minute drive away in the neighborhood is a little nature walk with a cool waterfall and we must have spent hours there wading the river and climbing on the rocks. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be coming back!

Get-a-way vacation

The property was hard to find in the gated community but the property owners gave great directions once in the community. As far as the property, it was everything that the owners said it would be. Everyone in our party loved the layout. I will be asking the owners for their builder". It was very dog friendly and well stocked. Also,, it was close to everything we wanted to do , once we got out of the communiity. Only downfall, was having to drive in and out of the community, A very winding road. But that the nature of everything in and out of the community. We would recommend this place for anyone wanting to get away.

We’ve been married for over 30 years and live just an hour away from this peaceful retreat, which serves as our second home and one of our favorite places to unwind. Owning this cabin has been a longtime dream, and it’s brought us so much joy to create a comfortable, welcoming space where others can recharge and reconnect—whether with family, nature, or themselves.

We’ve made lasting memories here with our two sons and our dogs, Roxi and Ollie, who especially love hiking nearby trails and splashing in the Broad River. Hosting is our way of sharing the calm and beauty we’ve found in Lake Lure. We hope you enjoy the peace, simplicity, and stillness this place offers, and we kindly ask that you treat our cabin with the same care and respect as if it were your own.

Why they chose this property

Why did you choose this neighborhood?

The moment we entered the Riverbend community, we knew we’d found something special. After more than a year of searching, this peaceful, wooded neighborhood captured our hearts—and we knew it would be the perfect place to create a second home and share with others as a relaxing retreat.

Riverbend feels like a true escape. The gravel roads wind past Mirror Lake, with its charming pavilion, beach, and dock for swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding. Across the road, you’ll find the River Walk, where you can explore the beautiful Broad River, picnic beside giant boulders, or dip into quiet swimming holes near a small waterfall. Just beyond Mirror Lake is Little Mirror Lake, another serene spot with space to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

The community is made up of rustic homes, each tucked away with privacy and space—offering that secluded, cabin-in-the-woods feel. Deer and other wildlife are frequent visitors, and we always recommend keeping dogs leashed for their safety.

When we’re here, we never want to leave. And with so much nearby—from zip lining and hiking to wineries, festivals, and even the famous Dirty Dancing lakefront—you just might feel the same way.

What makes this property unique

From the moment we stepped inside, we knew this was the one. The soaring vaulted ceilings and exposed beams gave the space an open, welcoming feel and the handcrafted wagon wheel chandelier fills the room with rustic charm. Anchoring the space is a stunning stone fireplace with a mantle dating back to the 1700s, salvaged from a historic West Virginia cabin. It’s not just a conversation piece—it’s the heart of the home.

Step onto the deck and you’ll enjoy peaceful, seasonal views of Mirror Lake. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon read, or a glass of wine as the sun sets. We’ve filled the cabin with thoughtful, personal touches—like locally crafted artwork and custom furniture designed by us and built by a talented area woodworker. The console table and writing desk are just a few examples of the handmade quality that gives the space its character.

We’ve worked hard to make this cabin feel like a true retreat. It’s a place where history, comfort, and creativity come together—and we hope you’ll feel that warmth the moment you arrive.
