About this property
Luxurious private villa with breathtaking views & beautiful resort amenities
THE LOCATION
Set between the resort’s two infinity pools and just a few minutes walk to our stunning, tranquil beach, we love our location, as it offers privacy that can be hard to find in a resort AND views that are second to none!
THE VILLA
The Villa is a 2,200 sq ft split level, with kitchen, living room, dining room, and full laundry on the main floor, a powder room half-way up the stairs, and 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and large balcony upstairs. After an extensive renovation, during which we focused on local materials and preserving the Costa Rican vibe, the Villa features natural stone flooring, solid wood cabinetry and furniture, upscale large and small appliances, and in the dining room, a bamboo ceiling. The front of the Villa opens up via two sets of French doors to let the outside in. Views from every room on both levels are second to none.
Upstairs, the master bedroom and ensuite are furnished with gorgeous pochote wood. Both the master and second bedrooms walk out to a large balcony where you can savor your morning coffee as you watch the howler monkeys swinging in the trees, or whales, dolphins, and manta rays swimming by in the bay. The third bedroom looks out the other direction over the islands of the Gulf of Papagayo.
Local artwork and prints of scenery from around the area decorate the walls.
The villa is equipped with a high quality water filtration system to ensure your drinking water and ice are absolutely pure. High speed Internet is also provided.
THE OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE
In Costa Rica, your outdoor space is just as important as what’s indoor. At our Villa, the expansive outdoor living area is furnished with vibrant and cozy furniture that you can curl up in to read a book, enjoy your breakfast, or watch the local wildlife such as monkeys, iguanas, and coatimundi which are all frequent visitors. The panoramic beach and ocean views make hanging out in the outdoor living space special, as whales, dolphins, schools of tuna, and manta rays can often be seen cruising by or frolicking out in front of the resort.
RELAXING AND DINING
If you are looking for complete relaxation, why leave the property? With a spacious outdoor living area complete with comfortable furniture perfect for snoozing, and room service or a private chef a phone call away, you need never lift a finger. For a change of scenery, chill beside the upper infinity pool or lunch and nap at the beachfront pool and restaurant before your afternoon massage on the beach. If you prefer cooking, you will LOVE the gorgeous new solid wood and quartz kitchen, and dining under the stars on the expansive patio, listening to the waves washing up on the shore below.
The on-site restaurant, Maracuya Beach Club, is set on the beach beside one of the resort’s two infinity pools. Offering local and North American cuisine, along with a full bar service, Maracuya has been the recipient of many awards for culinary and mixology excellence. As well as poolside dining, they offer meal delivery to your villa, weekly live music, mixology classes, and even cooking classes in right in your kitchen.
VENTURING OUT
On the days you want adventure, the area offers all the eco-tourism options Costa Rica is famous for. Experience endless fun and adrenalin — from sport fishing to ziplining, from wildlife tours to scuba diving, river cruises, coffee plantation tours, and visits to local artisan communities. Local operators offer pickup from the villa, or from the beach if you are heading out on the water. Activities and tours can be booked through the on-site concierge.
The lively village of Playas del Coco is 3 miles from the resort, offering plenty of options for groceries and local crafts, along with many wonderful restaurants and bars. Out favorites are listed in the information binder you’ll find in the villa.

About the host
Hosted by Roxi Harms
Hi! We live in western Canada, and love our Costa Rican getaway! In our owner profile photo we are enjoying an amazing, romantic dinner for two on the beach. Our on-site restaurant is just amazing and offers so many extras like this. We feel very fortunate to have them on the property!
We try to spend Oct-Dec at the Villa each year, basking in the sun and enjoying the luxury, tranquility, and activities of the area. Our typical day starts with a hike or a run in the mountains up behind the resort, or a bike ride to the neighboring village of Hermosa. Then we don't feel guilty while we eat our usually rather large breakfast out on the patio, watching the monkeys feeding on our trees out front or the manta rays jumping in the bay. Afternoons we usually read, nap, and play some cards, and evenings we can often be found at the Maracuya Beach Club, our on-site bar and restaurant, savoring their amazing food. We do like to cook too though, and a stop at the nearby fish monger fills the BBQ with the catch of the day, often complemented by a few of the local (and huge) prawns -- all fresh from the ocean that morning. We also enjoy heading out for live music or a weekly bingo game in town. Of course, when we have guests we have to be a little more active, which is pretty simple as the area offers so many adventures! Ahh...... life is tough.

Why they chose this property
The lap of luxury set in complete privacy, with resort amenities just a few steps away. The best of everything! We chose this site for our Villa based based on two main factors -- the incredible views and the seclusion. Although it's just a few minutes walk to the pool, restaurant, and sandy beach, it feels secluded because of the unique setting within the resort. The yard is very private, filled with lush foliage on either side and filled with beach and ocean views as far as you can see out the front.
Town is 3 miles away. We rent a car for our stays, but taxis are super easy too, costing just $10 each way. And there's no shortage of fun to be had in town!

What makes this property unique
Our Villa is unique within the resort in that it is completely detached and set on it's own large, private lot. This was the major reason we chose it when we purchased it new in 2004. A couple of years ago, we completed renovated to raise the Villa to the highest level of luxury in the resort, using mainly local materials to maintain a Costa Rican vibe.
