Property just as it was described. Beautiful views and quiet. More for a single adult or couple. Be prepared to shower outside. A very small 2 piece bathroom otherwise a lovely hideaway.
We really enjoyed the quiet and closeness to the water. It was lovely sleeping and waking up to the sound of the waves. Our host was very thoughtful and had bottled water and kindling available for us. I also appreciated the clean sheets and towels. I just wish that the place was a bit cleaner. I also didn’t realize from the listing that there is no indoor shower. Perhaps I missed it, but it was a bit chilly to use the outdoor shower.
the listing was miss leading. the unit was in a back yard of a house and no running drinking water and shower was in back yard . The wife and i went and found a nother place for the weekend with running water and a shower in the unit . Don

Sorry this was misleading and will change the wording on the listing. I do supply bottled water, and there is running hot and cold water from the lake as stated . Yes there is no indoor shower and the outdoor shower has been used by many even if its not the most high end type. The boathouse experience is for outdoor type people who love to be in the water, bbq food and enjoy outdoor campfires for a reasonable price on Lake Simcoe. The listing says it is on the property with my cottage, but that I i am very seldom home before 11pm and stay away from the property and renters as much as i can. I am mainly there to fix any issues, and make sure the rules are being followed when it come to the number of people who visit. I am not saying you bought extra people , but there has been numerous times that 4 people rent and there has been 5 to 10 extra people who show up for the day without asking me. I will make some updates on my listing for next year to improve on the clarity of the rental when it comes to the shower.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this rustic and cozy spot. The beds are comfortable, the place has so many awesome living spaces, and nothing beats being on the water and the spectacular view. The spiders are a real thing, but can be dealt with pretty easily and the water toys and other amenities John provides more than compensates for those. Before we were even halfway through our stay we were talking about planning a return trip.
My husband and I (and are two dogs) had a great time at John's place. Despite the weather preventing us from maximizing our time there, there was plenty to do; the kitchenette was stocked with more than we expected, televisions, and LOTS of games. We spent our two nights hunkered in, reading, eating, enjoying the sounds of the rain and waves, and making fires (kindling, dry wood, and newspaper provided). John was a gracious host and we look forward to returning in the fall or next summer to make use of the beautiful outdoor space and dock.
The place was clean and felt like home. John was responsive and attentive and we can't wait to stay here again. The sunset we saw on the second day was breathtaking. Had a great time and we'll definitely be back.
John was a lovely host. Very friendly. If you need anything you just let him know, he is very accomodative. The spot is absolutely lovely. Cozy boathouse living space and access to all the 3 levels of sight over the lake is wonderful. We didn't end up having a fire although there is a metal firepit if you want to use it. Boathouse does not have potable water just water from the lake for washing hands and dishes and toilet use. However John provides as many cases of water as you need for drinking which is extremely helpful. Overall it was a lovely stay. We had some stormy weather for about 1.5 days but made the best of it. There are games he provides in the boathouse and we played a couple on the stormiest day. Went swimming and kayaking when the weather got nicer. Went into town to the pier as well. Very nice spot and lovely area. Pet friendly, if you bring your dog it's a great area to go for a dogwalk. There is a park just up the road that is perfect to bring the dog as well. Overall very pleased and would stay again. Such a lovely little spot and John is a lovely host.
