About this property
Three Sisters Keep on Lake Superior - Right on the water, with panoramic views!
When visitors arrive at “The Keep” their reaction is always the same…at your feet lie the waters of the greatest lake on earth, Lake Superior. To the south, tower the cliffs of Mink Mountain and to the east the islands, Thompson, Slipper, and the fabled Sisters. Far in the distance lies the greatest of them all, Isle Royale. Some forty miles across, it stands like a fortress against the power of the sea. Within the Keep, guests share their wine and meals and stories by the warmth of a fire.
The space
As for “The Keep” itself, a four season lakefront cottage in Ontario, Canada, built in 2016 is a like-new, modern but cozy dwelling nestled amongst the pines and other conifers that cradle the snow on their bows in the winter and offer their shade in the summer. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open to each other and two bedrooms accommodate up to two couples comfortably. A large deck overlooks the lake where you can prepare your meals outdoors. High speed 300mbps download and upload fibre wifi. There’s also a fire-pit to relax beside a campfire. The property is an easy commute to Thunder Bay, Ontario just 35 minutes to the Thunder Bay Airport; 1 1/2 hrs from Grand Marais, MN. Guests access:
There are two security cameras on the property one facing the driveway and one facing the home entrance.
There is one room in the home that is locked and private. In addition to the rooms described there are three additional rooms including a home theatre, laundry/utility room and an activities library with blu-rays, board and card games, books, puzzles, and magazines.
The cottage is located in a residential neighbourhood, so there is a potential for noise including but not limited to property and yard maintenance and construction. Professional snow removal in winter, municipality keeps the roads in good condition.
The garage and shed are private and not available to guests.
Other things to note
Try snowshoeing or cross country/downhill skiing in the winter, and some amazing hiking and fishing in the summer.
If travelling with PWCs, kayaks, or a boat in tow, in good weather your hosts can provide dock access. Two boat launches are very close. Fishing gear available (please note a fishing license is required for all non residents and Canadians between the age of 18 & 65 and can be obtained online at Hunt and Fish Ontario).
There are a few grocery stores in Thunder Bay, Ontario with click and collect. Pre-order your groceries through an app and pick up when on your way to the cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Sharolyn

Originally from the Canadian prairies, I moved to Northwestern Ontario more than 15 years ago where I fell in love with Lake Superior, the surrounding Boreal forest and the Nor’Wester mountain range. I am delighted to be able to share this beautiful piece of our awesome Canadian landscape with you. We have amazing boating, sailing, fishing, hiking, and sightseeing opportunities in our area. The sunrises, lake and cliff views, birds and other wildlife, stargazing, and (cross your fingers) aurora borealis, will take your breath away.
Why they chose this property
I moved to this neighbourhood almost a decade ago. It is rural and quiet with amazingly friendly and community-minded neighbours who appreciate the area and do not take for granted where we live. We have stunning vistas, lush forests, a wide variety of wildlife, and the unspoiled shores of the greatest lake on earth.
What makes this property unique
A cozy and modern newer built four season cottage on 1 1/2 acres with tree-lined drive and panoramic views of mountain cliffs and Lake Superior including no less than 12 of its islands. We strive for the utmost comfort and cleanliness, and wish each of our guests a stay filled with the peaceful sights and sounds of nature.
