Wonderful Weekend Getaway

It's a very cute place! We had an issue with the hot water and the property owner came by to check it out within 5 minutes of being called. He had someone over to fix it in less than 6 hours. If you stay here, we highly recommend spending time on Madeline Island; don't just use it as a launching point to other excursions.

There were many things that we appreciated about our stay here, especially being able to have our 2 dogs with us and the proximity to the shops and restaurants of La Pointe allowing us to walk everywhere. While there is no yard for taking the dogs out, there is a small park just next door. The place is clean and attractive throughout. The bathroom is quite large and very nicely remodeled.There were a few unexpected things that were disappointing such as the private deck which is actually on the front of the house next to the parking area with many people walking by - so we did not use it other than to grill one time. The one wall AC unit in the main room is quite loud, making it difficult to have conversation while it is running. It also did not adequately cool the two bedrooms that are down the hall, but we managed ok with the good ceiling fans. The worst part of our 1 week stay is that both couples found the beds to be uncomfortable. The beds look like they should be fine, but something inside is worn out and it causes a valley in the middle that makes sleepers roll into the middle. We would not return to this site unless we knew the beds had been replaced for a good firm sleeping experience.Overall this is a nice place for a stay on Madeline Island, but a few changes could improve the stay a great deal including new beds, a quieter AC unit, and hooks to hang jackets, etc. since there are no closets.
