Disappointing Stay Despite the Great Location

The Tropicana Hotel has a fantastic location, sitting directly on the beach. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. During my stay, I stayed in 2 different rooms in 2 different buildings yet both had the same issue—a strong, sickly smell of mold. Visible signs of mold were present near the AC units, and as someone allergic to mold, I barely got any sleep. My friends, who were also staying at the hotel, experienced sinus trouble, coughing, and noticed the same unpleasant odor. While the hotel may seem like a great deal for a beachfront stay, there’s a clear reason for the lower price. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I care about, and I certainly won’t be returning. I am also attaching a picture of the extension cord they provided me for my BiPap machine, which raises further concerns about the hotel’s upkeep and safety standards.

We enjoyed the Oceanside room and access to the pools and beach. The standard rooms are dated, no mini refrigerator or safe in the room. The bathroom reeked of mold and mildew, and there was a lot of construction happening around our room. Having to wear an armband the whole time was also annoying - it’s not like this is an all inclusive or the band acted like a key. If walking with limited ability you may have some difficulty.

We had a very large I oceanfront room. Small kitchen with a full size fridge stove top and microwave. With basic utensils. Room 513 was great.

Great location and a fair price. The property is older but was probably really beautiful in its prime. Its a bit tired but you can't be the location for the price. It was a great value!

The rooms are falling apart .. ripped drapes.. paint coming off the walls- mold in the bathrooms .. I have cb pictures… they would not rebate us money or switch our room.. very disappointing

It is an older property and they are in the process of remodeling. My room had a view of the ocean and the beach. It was wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the waves. There are numerous dining options all around the hotel within walking distance.

This was 5th or 6th stay at the Tropicana. Unfortunately it may be my last. The room stunk horrible. The bathroom was gross and no ventilation. I could hear everything upstairs. Day of checkout they wouldn't let me get a late check out or work with me at all. Luggage went to lobby as I was instructed. I had a last bite to eat. When my Uber came the bags had been moved, all gone. They ended up putting it in a taxi then driver demanded payment. I feel hotel Tropicana should have paid the taxi. The guy at the desk was rude, did not care about my missing luggage. Very stressful and they didn't help. I do appreciate them arranging a taxi but it was their error and did not acknowledge or even try to say sorry. I would definitely need some service recovery to even consider staying there again.
