On walking into the property it was clear that it was damp and unclean. The chairs looked like they have been taken from the tip. The sofa had tears in it. There was tomato sauce on the floor and the floor and all surfaces were dirty with dubious stains on the walls too. The towels were see through and the bed linen shocking, the single beds had grass in them. We found alternative accommodation for the first night and purchased single duvets to sleep on top of the beds with our coats on. The fridge was off on arrival, but should also have gone to the tip as it had rust in it and mouldy stains from old spillages. It all felt unclean. There is also no WiFi.

Nicely presented cottage with everything we needed for a weekend break.

Nicely presented cottage with everything we needed for a weekend break. Close enough by car to both the coast and local visitor attractions as well as the A1. Only real downside is that if you do not want to go out in the car there is nothing really immediately around to walk to or sit and look at. The pub that is adjacent is not open now.

Great find!

Dove Cottage was a great find. Was looking for dog friendly accommodation close by to Druridge Bay for a race that weekend and this was perfect. Plenty of parking, next to The Railway Inn pub, lovely camping site and the cottage was lovely. Very spacious, nicely decorated and the facilities that were provided were much more than expected. Great enclosed private patio area to the rear of the cottage and garden which is perfect for people and dogs! The pub does a fantastic Sunday lunch which they kindly delivered to our cottage. A lovely place to stay and chill and many places to visit. Druridge Bay, Amble and the coast within 10 to 15 minutes drive. Would happily stay again.

Not luxury or outstanding as per previous reviews. Tired and in need of a deep clean. Bedding covered in dog hair, curtains hanging down and dining room chairs awful. Dirt under beds and behind bedside cabinet in smaller room. Spiders and cobwebs throughout and damp smell in smaller bedroom. Lovely garden and great location, kitchen fine. With some TLC this could be great.

A lovely cottage, perfect size for my family ( couple, teenager and toddler) and our 2 dalmatians, lovely garden and only 10 mins by car to the beach. It was a shame the pub next door wasn’t open but didn’t detract from our stay. I would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arose

Was a very comfortable stay. Good location, equipped for our needs, good beds and a good springboard for visiting the surrounding area. We had need to contact Helen and she was very helpful and welcoming. It's a thumbs up from us!
