Our welcome basket was nice, the house was spacious and beds comfortable. We spoke to our host and there was lots of information about the house.We didn't know how well used the road was or tight it was getting into the parking area. In the end, we parked on the road because it was easier.Recycling instructions were interesting, especially when it came defining a meat container. That could be worded a little better perhaps.Heating was an issue for the older guest and we know it was on but couldn't seem to increase the temperature. But, to be fair that was a personal preference issue.

A few small maintenance issues. Leaking tap and toilet difficult to flush in one en suite. toilet flush in main bathroom was a bit difficult too. Damp smell from basement was strong when it rained. some cobwebs. and the bricks outside the back door made walking a bit tricky for us as we are all over 50. overall enjoyed our stay though as place was roomy even with 7 of us on residence. oh and the batteries need changing in all the remotes.

We were very happy with everything that the house provided, there is a lovely private garden. It is very near a handy bus stop, which we used everyday. We were in the city centre within 20 mins. Sheila was very helpful and I would recommend this very comfortable house to friends.

This place is amazing. Everything from the welcome gifts, to the house itself was brilliant. My stay was the first week in August, the weather was good and we enjoyed the whole house, breakfasts and games nights at the huge table. Chatting around the patio table as we fired up the barbecue, watching dvds before bed. I hope to be back one day. I co fess to scrumping some plums from the plum tree.

Great base for attending graduation

A lovely big property with lots of space inside and out for dining and relaxing. Flexible bedroom accommodation made it an ideal base for attending graduation at Bath Abbey given we were not sure who would be able to join us when initially booking.A small issue with getting the oven working was quickly resolved.

We had a great stay here over the weekend, Sheila was always readily available. The house its self is absolutely beautiful, and a great location!

Although facilities were as described, the property was tired with plumbing, boiler, and Internet issues. The owner was very keen to help, but terribly slow Internet, no water pressure, and a scalding shower in both ensuite rooms were frustrating. The adjacent, unoccupied half of the property was a building site, and it was quite dirty throughout.The windows have gaffer tape on them, and the curtains on all windows are white, so do not make any attempt to reduce the summer light pouring in through them.The owner was very keen to help, such as getting the Internet speed issues addressed, but this only led to a 1% increase (to about 8% of what is the usual speed for rural England). Outdoor furniture was broken or unstable. The lighting inside was varied and very cold, so not comfortable at all (cold LED and fluorescent lights everywhere).The instructions were also quite confusing and very unwelcoming - whilst I understand they are a requirement, the tone was very demanding, at times it felt like we would be told off! The generosity of the owner was a pleasant surprise with a basket of goodies, but this made the place feel any better.I am sorry to say I would not recommend this property to anyone.We got the impression we could walk along the river, but access is along a busy road. Road noise is also an issue as the property is very close to a major road with car and motorbike noise 24/7.

Lovely weekend Stay

We had a lovely weekend at Shelia's, the property is very homely and spacious, with lots of space upstairs for a group. It was nice to have such good sized bedrooms. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evening. The area is of Batheaston is beautiful, close enough to Bath but away from all the hustle of Bath centre. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely return.

Great location

An ideal place for a reunion of old school friends - walks from the property and an easy journey into Bath. A well equipped kitchen, space for sitting out if the weather is warm enough and comfortable bedrooms. A very friendly host, making communication for arrival and departure easy. We had a great weekend!

Highly recommend

First impressions from our group was: "Oh wow this is beautiful and so spacious!" We all agreed it really is a wonderful place to stay, with a home from home feel! The Garden is just as lovely with plenty of seating area and a lovely sun trap too! The welcome hamper was very thoughtful and much appreciated by all! If ever we were to come to Bath again, we wouldn't hesitate to book avondale! We loved it there and felt sad when we left. Thank you Sheila for everything! Thank you Sheila for opening yourus all.

Great property on the outskirts of Bath

Really enjoyed ourselves. As a family of 5, lots of choice in bedrooms. Balcony seems to get the sun all day which was nice to sit out on even at the end of October. We chose to park at the rear of the property as we have a largish car and it was a bit tight through the gates of the property. Sheila was very communicative and we wanted for nothing.

Comfortable stay in Batheaston

This was a well appointed house, with plenty of space, on the outskirts of Bath with an excellent bus service or a do-able walk by the canal. The characterful house itself was nicely furnished, with good beds and bedding, and plentiful bath/ shower rooms, though the plumbing was a little eccentric at times! The only real disadvantage was that access was via an electric gate - fine in itself, but the parking area required a degree of skill with a large car. Our hostess, Sheila, was charming, explained the vagaries of the recycling system, and left us a delicious basket of goodies.

Nice and clean house, surroundings not ideal

We have had a great stay in this house. Everything we needed was there and you can feel that the landlords put much effort and passion in equipping this house. The garden was also really nice. In order to go to Bath you have to take the car, though, and the street was quite noisy, unfortunately. Apart from that thanks for everything!

Wonderful for exploring Bath and its surroundings

The house is very large and perfectly situated for exploring Bath and its surroundings. It’s very well equipped and Sheila was a lovely host, who even supplied us with tea scones and wine for our arrival.

Excellent property

Visiting Bath for three days with our sons and their partners. Two en-suites and 1 separate bathroom made life very easy. The beds were very comfortable and linen and towels lovely and clean. Everything was thought of e.g. plenty of plug sockets and mirrors in the right place, teabags and coffee etc supplied. The garden was lovely too. The whole property had a very homely feel and communication with Sheila was very good. We left the cars at the property and took the bus (bus stop only a few yards up the road) or taxi when going out in the evening. The property has off road parking with a large solid gate so it felt very secure. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise too, thank you very much Sheila. Very happy to recommend this property

We came for a wedding but had time to chill out in the lovely garden and eat the lovely scones, cream and jam left for us Would of used the jacuzzi if we had time Definitely should of booked for longer, village lovely

Beautiful home near bath

Lovely property stunning views of the river avon and gardens. Location fab near bath and bradford upon avon.owners very welcoming and property beautifully decorated and equipped with everything needed for few days stay. Will be staying again!

A friends’ reunion in Bath

The size, location and character of this property gave us the opportunity to enjoy our reunion in comfortable surroundings. Bus access to see the sights of Bath is very easy. There is a lovely stroll into town (takes about an hour) along the canal. We found the owner to be very helpful…..she answered our questions and dealt with any concerns immediately. A very pleasant stay!!
