Amplia propiedad en espectacular ubicación de Alentejo en el río cerca del mar

Moinho do Loural es una impresionante finca de 10 hectáreas rodeada por tres lados por el río Mira con 700 m de costa privada. Originalmente un molino de mareas en funcionamiento, hay varias pequeñas casas de huéspedes que lo convierten en un lugar ideal para unas vacaciones familiares compartidas.

La casa principal tiene una maravillosa terraza donde se pueden tomar comidas tranquilas a la sombra de una higuera y por la noche no se ve ninguna otra luz, excepto las estrellas. Consta de un dormitorio principal con baño privado, ambos con fabulosas vistas, una habitación doble, otra habitación individual que da directamente a la terraza y un baño bellamente decorado. Hay dos casas de huéspedes en los terrenos también con terrazas y vistas cautivadoras. Un estudio adicional con una pared de vidrio con vista al río tiene capacidad para cuatro y es perfecto para niños. Todo ha sido completamente renovado a una alta especificación manteniendo el carácter de los edificios originales.


Dentro de la casa principal hay mucho espacio para relajarse en una sala de estar grande y cómoda, y un área de estudio separada. Hay una mesa de comedor interna con capacidad para 12 personas y una cocina espaciosa y extremadamente bien equipada que se encuentra junto a esto. Una terraza orientada al sur está sombreada por un árbol de mimosa y hay una gran mesa al aire libre hecha a mano de piedra local en la terraza principal.

A pocos metros de distancia se encuentra la primera casa de huéspedes con dos camas individuales, baño privado y su propia zona de estar con chimenea. Desde aquí puede pasear por el jardín paisajístico hasta la piscina o hasta el embarcadero privado.

Se puede llegar a la segunda casa de huéspedes, a unos 80 metros de la casa principal, a través de un camino que serpentea a través de alcornoques pasando un viejo pozo. Con vistas a un huerto de naranjos y limoneros por un lado y el río por el otro, también tiene dos camas individuales, baño privado (con ducha a ras de suelo), chimenea y zona de estar y una terraza maravillosamente apartada.

Desde aquí hay unos pocos pasos hasta el último molino de mareas que queda en el río Mira.

Amazing views

We were a family of 11 and the property easily catered for all of us and is really well equipped. Some of the bedrooms are across separate dwellings, something to keep in mind if travelling with younger children. The location is off the beaten track but the views are worth it… just incredible. The views and the pool area really elevate this property. Highly recommend.

Exceptional holiday location

It's a fairly long and bumpy ride to reach the property (not all that unusual in Portugal as well as Mediterranean countries), but it's more than worthwhile and what you'd expect for such a unique and peaceful place. The main house is super comfortable and furnished and decorated with flair. Each of the three independent cottages is also really well done and they offer flexibility and fun for extended groups of guests of all ages. And, finally, the large pool is great!

Idyllic retreat in spectacular riverfront setting

The luxurious accommodation in this magnificent setting is so well suited to the environment that the entire experience is one not to be missed. The main house and cottages, nestled in a bend on the River Mira, offer spectacular views and opportunities for relaxing on the verandas or poolside. One can enjoy a glass of Vinho Verde or perhaps fresh figs or other seasonal fruit picked fresh picked from the beautifully landscaped gardens. While watching the occasional boat pass by, we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a 'sounder' of wild boar ambling on the path across the river. The location makes it possible to engage in water sports, hiking, and to undertake excursions to villages within a short drive. Nearby towns provide well-stocked shops featuring fresh food and a good selection of wines. (We even managed to locate some Japanese sake.) High quality restaurants with ocean views, fresh seafood and local dishes are easily accessible. We will be returning.

Wat een fantastische accommodatie. Fantastisch gelegen aan de rivier. Met veel smaak en liefde ingericht. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Prachtig zwembad. De (slaap)kamers zijn verdeeld over 4 huizen. De living en terras in het hoofdhuid zijn groot genoeg voor een groep van 12. We hebben een super week gehad. Contact met host is zeer plezierig en zorgvuldig. Dank aan Leo, Carlos en Joanna.

Wonderful week in rural tranquility

We absolutely loved our week at this villa. It is a very special place, with plenty of room for our extended family. The house is clearly much loved by its owners, well equipped and full of lovely things, set on a promontory with commanding views of the River Mira.

Traumhafte Villa in idyllischer Lage

Wunderschönes Anwesen zum Entspannen und Genießen. Wir haben hier schon zum zweiten Mal einen wunderschönen Urlaub verbracht. Das Haus und der Garten sind einmalig, man ist absolut ungestört. Man kann von hier sehr viele tolle Wanderungen an der Küste unternehmen oder einfach an einen der vielen Strände relaxen.

Splendide

Quel plaisir de découvrir après quelques kilomètres de piste la vue sur un site magnifique. Une propriété splendide, au calme, qui réunit de nombreux endroits de détente selon les différents moments de la journée. Une mention spéciale pour le ponton qui permet de contempler la rivière Mira.Chacun des membres de notre groupe de 12 personnes âgées de 20 à 80 ans a pu profiter des espaces communs comme des lieux d’intimité (dépendances très bien aménagées ). Merci à Carlos pour son accueil et sa disponibilité, aux femmes de ménages pour leur travail et leur discrétion. Et enfin merci à Joanna d’avoir partagé avec nous son petit coin de paradis.

Wunderschöne Lage am Fluss

Wir waren sehr begeistert von diesem wunderbar gelegenen Landhaus. Der Garten mit dem Pool ist ein Traum und man kann hier sehr entspannende Stunden verbringen. Das Haus ist hervorragend ausgestattet . Wir haben mehrfach gekocht und die Abende auf der großen Terrasse mit Blick auf den Fluss verbracht. Der Strand und die Stadt ist in wenigen Minuten erreicht und trotzdem ist man in einer ruhigen Lage sehr ungestört. Wir möchten gerne wieder kommen, vielen Dank an Joanna und Carlos für die gute Betreuung. Es war ein toller Urlaub.

A unique and beautiful spot

Having travelled all over the world we were impressed by this property's unique setting and beauty. The pictures and description by the owner hardly do it enough credit. On top of the physical location, Vila Nova de Milfontes is extremely well maintained and appointed inside; it is spacious, luxurious and yet comfortable. The view over the river from the terrace is superb, and we enjoyed many spectacular meals there looking down over the landscaped swimming pool and gardens, as the river meandered by, and the birds flew high overhead. I also really liked the fact that we all had separate cottages, and ours was particularly well situated since an old stone mill and a tributary of the river was within easy walking distance of it. Although the Vila may seem isolated, it is within easy driving distance of Milfontes, where there are a variety of superb restaurants and stores. A stay at this lovely estate was exactly what our family needed to recover from the busy lives that we all lead in New York City. I would without hesitation recommend this rental to strangers and friends alike.

Magic

Turning off the main road and driving through the fields you have no idea what you are about to find until you come over the brow of the hill and the river valley below is revealed. It is a magical place. An old farm and mill nestling into the sides of the valley above the river has been transformed into the perfect retreat. It is beautiful and quiet, with enough room for every member of a large group to find their own space to relax in if that's what they want as well as great communal areas in the main house for everyone to be together. The pool is great with a perfect view and the river was a great playground - we swam and kayaked. There is a great surf beach not too far away and lovely walks around the property which is a protected area. A top family holiday which we would do again without hesitation.

Fabulous family holiday in paradise.

We are a large family with teenagers and younger children, this was the ideal holiday for all ages and parents, with parents and younger chilkdren occupying the main house and elder children in the annexes. The position of the property is magnificent with great views up and down the river, not another house in sight and nature all round. The houses are all beautifully equiped and well maintained. The property manager was extremely friendly and helpful, fixing up kaiak rental for the river and providing fishing tips and information on the local area. We loved all of the swimming options available, the pool, river and the sea just a 15 min drive away. We will return!

Fabulous house!

This is one house we would definitely rent again. It was perfect for our 3-family gathering where each family had their houses and the kids all bunked up in the "teen house". Everyone relaxed by the pool or the different decks. We found a great butcher in Vila Nova de Milfontes and cooked all our meals at the house and even used the wood oven to make pizza. We had a glitch with the refrigerator but both the owner and the caretaker were on it right away and did their best to fix the situation. We went to a couple of beaches around to both relax and boogie board. We had a great lunch at one of the restaurants by the beach where they grilled a huge fish for our party. One of the most delicious meal we have had in Portugal. We recommended this property without hesitation.

House in spectacular position overlooking river

We recently spent a wonderful holiday at Moinho do Loural. The position of the house with it's separate Guest Cottages overlooking the river and surrounding hills is truly spectacular. Being newly renovated everything was in perfect working order and in excellent taste. We had some delicious seafood meals in the charming coastal town of Vila Nova de Milfortes where there are also good local beaches and it is within 15 minutes drive. The owners were extremely helpful with any queries we had about the house and we would highly recommend this spectacular house to friends and family.

A week at the Moinho

Moinho do Loural is a unique location set in one of the most secluded, most traditional regions of Western Europe. You reach the property along a mile of track, then drop down into your own private enclave. The perfect setting for a large family holiday or, by contrast, the writing of that novel you always promised yourself you'd write The river Mira curves its way along 2 sides of the property before heading off to the sea at Vila Nova de Milfontes (itself a traditional Portuguese resort full of restaurants & bars, well-stocked food shops and charming sandy beaches). You'll be lucky to see more than one or two fishing boats row past in a whole day! The main terrace offers incredible panoramic views of the river The 4 buildings have all been renovated, internally and externally to a super-modern standard, surrounded by lawn and shrubberies and climbing plants, and then tastefully integrated into acres of natural landscape of cork trees, pines, mimosa and oleanders. The main house, at the top of a small hill, is flooded with light and boasts a very spacious, oak-beamed social / dining area opening out onto the main terrace. The other buildings are the Pool Cottage, the Well Cottage - for single or couple occupation - and, of course, the natty "Studio", converted specifically to provide some independence for the teenagers. Each one of these has its own terrace, its own views, its own character. Leisure and other on-site facilities include a beautiful pool, full internet service, a jetty, table football and the latest must-have, a pizza oven. And masses more. During the day, a herd of melodious cattle graze past on the opposite bank of the river, their bells clunking; in early evening, formations of white birds skim the river surface on their way home. That's a whole day's action. Our group had a fantastic time, watching the river, reading, walking and doing loads of cooking. The only thing we had to worry about all week was the lack of a lettuce drier ! The owners have since put that one right.

We bought this property as somewhere to enjoy outdoor activities with our three sons (in better weather than the UK!). We have had many happy holidays with family and friends over the years.

The property has a distinctive location that seems to make everyone feel more relaxed as soon as they arrive. The wonderful views and the small cottages dotted around the property made us feel it was the ideal second home where we could welcome guests. It has a lot of history as it was originally a tidal mill and offers the opportunity of trips to the beach for swimming and surfing as well as plenty of activities at the property itself. We often think how lucky we were to find such a unique place.
