The Hunter Chalet had gorgeous views. The beds were comfortable. Everything you need for coffee was available. Would love to return and stay longer so we could use all the amenities!

Family summer vacation

Everything was wonderful for our family summer vacation. The house was so great for us and our adult children and their dog. The pool and hot tub were a hit! Pete and Lara were wonderful to work with and all our needs were met.

I liked the fact that there was a pool, hot tub, and some games in the basement. However, for our needs, this wasn't a good fit. I found the house to be a bit dirty. Shower on main floor had brown stains and the shower head had a lot of build up. There were lots of cob webs and bugs throughout the house. There was a pile of bird dropped on the porch below a nest. The owner of the property clarified the baby birds had left that morning and apologized for the bird droppings all over the porch but they should have been picked up. This was not a clean environment for our toddlers running around the porch. A heads up for folks with kids. This is definitely not a toddler friendly spot. Lots of sharp corners and stairs. Plants and weeds were taking over the pool area with us having to squeeze our way through the pool gate without getting smacked by a branch. The pool and hot tub could have been cleaned better. Heads up the driveway is a little sketchy. My husband didn't mind it but I was nervous going up it (steep and windy). Fan were provided (and we brought our own knowing this ahead of time) which was nice but just a heads up, with no AC it gets VERY hot. Nice view off the porch of the mountain. Overall it's an ok stay but not for a family with kids.

Owner lives next door but property is secluded and owner does not come to property unless you need them. Very responsive!Pool is gorgeous, very well appointed kitchen, easy check out. Grocery store within 20 minutes. Only real downside was there was a big mess of bird poop under a nest near the sliding door that should have been cleaned up prior to our stay. It was unsightly but worse had to keep reminding the little kids to not step in it.

Exquisite views of the Catskills. The house is positioned so that you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset from the spacious deck. We loved that they provided suet and bird food so we could observe the oh so many species of birds from the forest feeding. The pool is large and heated so easily accommodated our large group. The hosts are super friendly and very available when and if you need them. We loved it!

Beautiful, serene, inviting. We loved our stay!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful home! The house was spotless when we arrived, and we were welcomed with a warm fire already going in the wood stove – such a nice touch. Peter and Lara were there to greet us and give us a tour, making us all feel right at home. We also really appreciated how responsive they were when we had a small issue with the hot tub – they took care of it right away. The place is absolutely gorgeous and so unique – you can really see the love and care they put into building it, which adds to the overall magic of the experience. They were also super accommodating of our small dog, and the K-9 corner they created for pets was so cute and welcoming. By far, this has been our favorite place we’ve stayed, and we can’t wait to return for future stays! Highly recommend!

10 minutes from the slopes, cozy chalet for my family!

Would certainly stay here again and highly recommend it for a private retreat in the woods, yet so close to town! Wonderful location for my dog to come too! We all enjoyed the hot tub and my sons loved keeping the wood stove full. Beds were comfortable and clean. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect mountain retreat

The place was perfect for our group with plenty of space. The house was much bigger in person and the views were great. A lot of natural light and all of the amenities you could ever need. Peter and Lara were excellent hosts and had the place warm and cozy when we arrived. Wood stoves were fired up and were going all weekend. It was a well maintained property. Hope to stay again in the future.

Great Apres Ski Lodge with Friends!

The property was great for a weekend ski getaway to Hunter Mountain with friends. The house was custom built by the owners and has some great touches - hot tub, sauna, two kitches, wood burning fireplace - that made it a really fun place to stay with a group of friends. Peter also woke up early each morning to plow and salt the drive for us since the house was at the top of the hill. My only warning is that if you are bringing a dog, they must be kenneled in the house if no one is home. That was not communicated to us until we arrived, so we had to go out and buy a kennel (in addition to the pet fee).

Wonderful Chalet

The host was very nice and great communication. My family and I loved the area and the home. The house was warm and cozy with the wood burning stove. We enjoyed staying in the chalet. Great Find! Sauna, Hot Tub & Fire Places!!!

The property was fantastic. The check-in process was super easy, and the owners stopped by to walk us through the property and answer our questions. If you like using a sauna, then this is the place for you. If you like hot tubbing, then this is the place for you. If you want a wood burning fire place, then this is the place for you. I would absolutely recommend this property, and I will definitely stay again.

Autumn in the catskills

Everything was just perfect. The house was spacious and had so many wonderful amenities. Location was great, private and quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub under the stars each night to relax from the hiking! Highly recommend.

Amazing Mountain/Nature Getaway!

We absolutely loved staying here — surrounded by mountains and forest (and the clear craftsmanship of a well-built and creative home). The house was even better than the pictures, and felt spacious even with 9 adults and a dog. All amenities were as listed, and it was a fantastic location between various small towns of the Catskills. Excellent to stay here if you prefer to cozy up inside AND also if you prefer to go explore all of the amazing ecology and history in the Catskills. Peter and Lara were on-site to greet us and very helpful with operating everything in the home. No concerns whatsoever!

Mountains Galore

Our late summer visit to the Catskill Mountains was very relaxing even with a 2-year-old. The kids enjoyed the pool the most and the property owners provided many pool toys for all. We enjoyed the hot tub also. There was plenty of room. WIFI was spotty, but no one had to work and that forces us to relax. Everyone reported they had a great time. Family time is the most important gift. Thank you Pete and Lara

Chalet with a View

My partner, children and pets had a four night stay during an unfortunately chilly week in August. We only used the pool once even though it was heated, it was not warm enough to make the outside temps of 65F enjoyable (no fault to the host). The hot tub and indoor sauna were wonderful. The house was thoughtfully appointed for families. The beds were comfortable and the linens were soft and very clean. There are hummingbirds and all kinds of other birds viewable every day with a great view of the mountain range from the deck and many bedroom windows. Large picture windows and sliding glass doors give the home natural lighting and plenty of clean air. We felt the property was private despite the host living just down the drive as you are surrounded by forest for the most part. Future renters, be sure to check out Brios Pizzeria and Restaurant. They have local brews, great food and gourmet desserts. Hiking opportunities all around. Such a gem in the Catskills region.

Lovely home for a remote getaway

We had a great time at the house, in spite of less than ideal weather for our vacation. The hot tub was great and featured lovely mountain views. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. I imagine it would be super cozy and lovely in the winter! Would definitely recommend the house for a Catskills getaway.

Great Stay in the Catskills

We spent one week at the Mountain House. We were two families, 8 people in total. The hosts were friendly/communicative when needed and very respectful of our privacy otherwise. The house is ideal for families with kids. The children enjoyed the particularly large pool with plenty of floaties and other pool toys. The house is quaint, with a nice deck overlooking the property and neighboring forest ridge. The kitchen had everything in order to prepare/cook daily meals. It’s a perfect location for sightseeing & hiking day trips in the Catskill region.

Relaxing and fun week!

We rented the house for a week in celebration of my daughters high school graduation. There were only 6 of us and the house was more than comfortable and accommodating. The first few days we had bad weather so we didn’t get to use the pool but the last days were beautiful! The pool Was amazing and clean. The surroundings were peaceful. We enjoyed the jacuzzi almost every night. Peter and Lara were very responsive when asked a question. The view from the deck was spectacular! We grilled every night. The only thing we didn’t get a chance to do was use the fire pit. We wish we had more time there and are planning on returning next summer. Thank you for a memorable vacation!

Long Ski Weekend

The house was fantastic. Close to Hunter Mountain Ski Resort and a cute one street town. Peter and Lara had both wood burning stoves going for us when we arrived. The house is wonderful with a fun separate hang out place for the kids. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Hot tub with wonderful views. All the firewood you could ever need. We will be back for sure!
