The Barn is a large and modern self catering holiday cottage near Faringdon, offering spacious luxury accommodation for 10 guests in 5 comfortable bedrooms. The large living area with chess table opens out onto the lawn and the well stocked kitchen makes catering a breeze. One of five beautifully converted Goodlake Barns which all surround the central courtyard, The Barn can be booked with the other Goodlake Barns to offer flexibility to groups of family and friends. There is plenty to explore nearby including the beautiful Cotswolds which is right on the doorstep! There is a central hub which is a flexible space and can be hired for dinner or meetings depending on your groups needs. The hub is big enough to seat everyone together if booking more than one barn. Please note that the hub is only available on request.

Accommodation

This large 5 bedroom holiday cottage near Farringdon offers ample space and a great location with plenty to explore nearby including the beautiful Cotswolds which is right on the doorstep! Goodlake Barns is the perfect base from which to explore the North Wessex Downs and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Cotswold accommodation is laid out as follows:

The maximum occupancy for this property is 10 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, the occupancy can only be exceeded by 3 additional infants (aged 2 or under)

We were a family of 6 adults, 2 children and a baby staying for a week over new year on The Barn. It was really spacious, but also so cosy and warm. The spaced out bedroom arrangements suited us brilliantly. The log fire was great and the kitchen had everything needed. The bathrooms are lovely to use. All round it was great

Beautiful property - perfect for our stay

This was perfect for a group of old friends to get together in. It was very comfortable, although would like the beds set up differently if we were to go back, as one of the rooms is tiny with small narrow beds and difficult access to bathroom. Very well equipped and clean throughout. Comfortable beds and sofas, plenty of crockery, pans etc, nice basket of basics for our stay.

A great venue, especially for a large group. We went for my mothers 80th.

Excellent customer service, very helpful. Great community and family business. Highly recommend, especially for large groups. Accommodations worked well for infants as well

Fantastic place for a family gathering.

We were a family reunion of nine people and The Barn suited our needs perfectly. Plenty of space and just so peaceful. Lovely local walks. Lots of interesting places nearby and within 30 minutes drive. We have stayed at other places in the Cotswolds but this was by far our favourite.

Ideal for a comfortable family reunion

The Barn was a wonderful location and setting for our family birthday celebration as it is close to major roads and railway stations. The fact there are smaller barns in the same courtyard makes it ideal to so that families can have separate accommodation but come together for walks etc in the surrounding countryside. The large living room was ideal to blow out the candles and toast the birthday. The kitchen is really well equipped for catering for large groups. Beds are comfortable and bedrooms generally a good size, having lots of bathrooms is helpful. Only downside was the twin beds that were not able to be made up as doubles and the downstairs twins had no easy bathroom access. The master bedroom is a great size and super comfortable but the bathroom is into the eaves and the handheld shower over the bath may not suit everyone. The tap on the bath was broken although it worked fine and there was lots of hot water. Thank you

Half term break with teenagers

We enjoyed our stay at the Barn. Everything was as expected and the property was well kitted out with everything. Nice large spaces and perfect for our needs; 2 families of 5 with teenagers. Well placed for Oxford, Blenheim and White Horse which we visited along with Bourton on the Water and Didley Squat farm which were a bit further. Doors need a good slam to close but other than that no complaints. Very peaceful stay.

Fantastic place to stay

A group of us stayed here as a base to explore Oxford. The Barn with Pony is very spacious and comfortably fitted 10 people. It was clean throughout and the kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need - there was even a bonus mini kitchen in the Pony! The outside space is shared, however we did not feel overlooked and the patios were spaced out enough to still feel private. It was an easy enough drive to the park and ride into Oxford but remote enough to still offer the peace and quiet if you don't want to be in the city itself.

Wonderful stay to celebrate Mum’s 90 birthday

The Barn was the perfect setting for our families to come together for a surprise weekend celebrating my mother’s 90th birthday. The property was spotlessly clean, well equipped, and exceptionally spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals for everyone to enjoy together, which made the stay feel particularly special. Despite the time of year, the Barn was consistently warm. We only used the wood burner once, as it quickly became too warm when running at full capacity. The only minor criticism raised by members of our party was that the dining chairs in the kitchen area could benefit from updating, as they are showing their age and are not the most comfortable. Aside from this, the property was faultless. Shelley, the housekeeper, was very responsive prior to our stay and extremely helpful in answering questions about what we might need to bring. Communication from StayCotswold throughout the booking process was excellent. I would highly recommend this lovely property for a large gathering. It would also be ideal for larger groups requiring additional accommodation, as there are other barns available to book within the same courtyard.

A surprise weekend

The Barn is excellent - we had a party of 10 share the weekend from ages 5 to 70 and the facilities were comfortable and flexible with amenities to cater for all of us. The space was modern and comfortable, the kitchen was great with excellent storage, fridges and freezers, plenty of cutlery and crockery, the rooms, beds and other furniture were comfortable - bathrooms plentiful and convenient. The feature sitting room was decorated for Christmas with a lovely tree and the unique design of the building certainly added the wow-factor for our weekend.

Brilliant for large groups

This is our 3rd stay at The Barn so that speaks for itself. The barn itself is beautifully done has lots of space ideal for large groups. Well equipped with majority of the rooms having an en suite, plenty of wardrobe space. Kitchen/dining area is fabulous keeping everyone in one space for cooking and eating plenty of space to all muck in. Plenty of crockery to go round. The space we enjoy mostly is the outdoors patio area, very private and sunny. New furniture and BBQ have been purchased since our last visit, nice to know they are constantly updating things. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely perfect

Firstly we had to postpone our holiday to The Barn twice because of covid and this was done with no trouble at all. Well done StayCotswold. Then The Barn was just brilliant. The facilities and amenities were outstanding. Lots of crockery, pans and cutlery. The beds were big and super comfy with soft pillows. We had friends staying in Prince and Flower but with The Hub dining area we could fit everyone around the table even when friends visited for the day. The lounge is lovely and comfy and we had the wood burner going one evening when it got a bit nippy. The location is just gorgeous and so quiet. It sits on a dead end street so there is no traffic going past. The outside seating was ample and the courtyard is a lovely sun trap. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning in the future. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Big thumbs up from us.

Family Reunion

We booked The Barn, Prince and Punch Barns for a family reunion for 19 of us. The barns were an ideal location for this occasion. They were very comfortable, well equipped and plenty of space for a large group. The paddock at the back was ideal for the children to play. Would also recommend breakfast at the coffee shop in Stanford in the Vale. Really helpful and pleasant. We also walked across the fields to the Horse and Jockey in Stanford. Easy flat walk, footpath starts opposite church in Shellingford.

Lovely Weekend Stay

The stay was a reunion of three mothers and daughters. We spent ages looking for the right place as we required a ground floor bedroom for one of the party with a disability and also a central location for all three families. The Barn was stunning, large kitchen and dining area which was great that we could all sit together. The lounge was a great size with the beautiful log burner (The logs needed to be a little smaller). The whole barn was spotless, the beds were comfy. I think the only niggle we had was that in the shower rooms by the shower heads there was not a little shelf to put your soap on. The added touch of milk and a box of chocolates went down well. We all said we would definitely return, so this morning i had a look to re book for next year and was shocked that from September you are only taking bookings for the whole complex- that's a real shame but i am sure that there is a great reason behind it - It was a great break and a lovely catch up in a beautiful place. :)

Beautiful location!

We had a brilliant stay at The Barn! The countryside surrounding it is stunning and quiet. We had a group of 10 and there was plenty of space. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds all very comfortable. Everything went really smoothly from check in to leaving and I hope to return again!

Lovely big house perfect for groups

Lots of space here which was a huge factor for us, the large kitchen also has a big dining table to accommodate everyone for dinner. When we arrived there was already some milk in the fridge for us as well as a few basic bits (oil, salt, pepper, some spices) and bags of ice for drinks, all of which was very handy. Stay Cotswolds and the owner of the house were all very friendly too. Only downside was that there was no shower gel or shampoo/conditioner in any of the bathrooms so we had to go and buy our own at the shop. Would be a nice simple touch to add this in. The house is attached to another cottage so if you're looking to make noise it won't be ideal for you - for us it was great though. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Lovely property but improvements required

We booked this cottage for a family of 10 to celebrate my parents Wedding Anniversary Postives: Lovely quiet location and a beautiful barn conversion Kitchen well equipped Clean linen and beds comfortable Lovely addition of a Christmas tree Negatives: All Bathrooms apart from one need updating Two towels were dirty and one frayed Frayed hand towel in kitchen 2 toilet rolls in the whole property- we had to pop out to Waitrose to buy some The courtyard door to the one bed Pony had no key and was unlocked Washing machine was mouldy inside An old dish sponge left at the sink [ not good during Covid times ] We had to buy one Cut wood left by the fire with no matches or kindling Cream sofas and cushions need cleaning Staycotswold did not deal with the issues and referred us to the property manager Rob No apology offered and 2 towels delivered on Saturday afternoon and the Door in the Pony locked We were informed that when the property was checked 5 days previously that all bathrooms had toilet paper ! No apology We have had six staycations in cottages in 2021 and all have provided plenty of toilet rolls/ kitchen towels/ foil/cling film etc as well as a welcome pack of milk/bread and butter at least

Luxury Stay at Goodlake Barns in the Cotswolds

We stayed in The Barn. The accommodation is very spacious and is extremely well appointed and equipped. We arrived after a long flight from South Africa and were very pleased to see all the necessary little things like coffee, tea salt and pepper, dishwasher tablets, surface cleaner etc. The place is spotless, the beds large and comfortable and the towels are white and fluffy. The setting is beautiful and peaceful with a large lawned area outside where our grand-children enjoyed kicking a ball etc. Close by there is a co-op in Stanford-in-the-Vale and approximately 10mins away in Faringdon there is a Waitrose and Tesco. The owner was always available and very pleasant and helpful. We booked for 4 weeks but stayed for 7! All in all a truly great experience!

An ideal venue for a family .

Peaceful and relaxing for a mix of ages from teens to a 90 year old. All enjoyed a weekend at the barn.We had space and provision for extra guests for meals.The kitchen was well equipped and gave ample space for easy catering ,two fridges and freezers helped keep work to the minimum. The outside area was an attractive place sit and dine and a grassy area at the front provided space for games .A good choice for a celebration.

We all had a lovely short half term break away as families x 3, everyone loved the house, self entertain didn't need to go far to sightsee wonderful sight of Cotswolds. Definitely come back.

A wonderful break for a big group

We booked The Barn, Prince and Punch for a group of 16 plus 4 children, and it was the perfect spot to celebrate New Year. The barns are all really cosy and inviting, with every amenity you could need. Andrew (the owner) couldn't have been more helpful, and even let us use The Hub so we could all eat together as a group. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again. Highly recommended.
