House La France -Terrace Apartment. RIVERSIDE home overlooking the river Orbieu

This is a lovely, peaceful location set within the walls of a beautiful and atmospheric Medieval house, right on the banks of the river Orbieu.

It has been featured in many Home Decoration magazines over the years and on French TV with Maison France 5 so you can be assured of an exceptional, beautifully decorated home. It is Located in the historic and unspoilt village of Lagrasse - officially classified as ‘one of the most beautiful villages in France’.

There are 2 terraces and an internal cobbled courtyard which separates the street from the riverside part of the house and remains cool and shady, even on hot summer days.

You'll find that the gentle colors of the ancient stone walls combine with a thoughtful, easy on the eye renovation, to create a very calm and relaxing atmosphere for your holiday.

The house has direct access out to the riverside and is just a few steps from the covered market square at the very heart of the village.

The apartment is on the 1st floor with the exceptionally large west facing terrace above. From there you will have views over the river, the iconic medieval stone bridge & the hills opposite. It is partly covered to provide shade and has loungers, chairs and a sofa for the times you are relaxing and not exploring the surrounding area. There is a BBQ and sink for your alfresco dining.

The other terrace is directly off the kitchen and looks into the characterful, courtyard in the center of the property below.

Access to the apartment is through the courtyard and up the spiral staircase. If you have any concerns about accessibility due to the mobility of any member in your party, please contact me first and I'll happily talk you through.

The accommodation is for 6/7 but please ask if you are a party of 7 first.

3 bedrooms. Each has its own bath or shower room and good, comfortable mattresses with high quality pure cotton linens. These will be supplied if you are a traveller from overseas but if you are travelling from within France I request that you supply your own sheets and towels. This also reduces Covid transmission risks.

The 2 double rooms are on the riverside so you can fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the water trickling by. One has the option of being either a twin or a large double room depending on your particular requirements. The 3rd bedroom is up the stairs leading off the living-room. It is a twin & looks onto the courtyard.

Lagrasse is urrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the scent of pine, thyme and rosemary wafting from the surrounding hills. Particularly famous for its 8th Century Abbey and the many cultural events hosted there. It is perfectly located for you to explore the wild and beautiful countryside, the Cathar Castles, the Canal du Midi, the Citadel at Carcassonne, the Mediterranean beaches, the Pyrenees and is only two hours from the Spanish border.

The house is located such that you can easily be part of nearby activities or enjoy quiet relaxing time on the largest terrace in the village!

There are several excellent restaurants, a couple of bars, a baker, Pharmacy, Post Office, 2 doctors, a newsagent & numerous local artisan shops and galleries.

Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea in Leucate, or simply relax & watch the sun go down.

Linen & towels are included if travelling from overseas. Hairdryer & iron also provided.

Off-site parking facilities costing 18€ for a week are only 3 minutes from the house.

YOUNG CHILDREN ARE WELCOME BUT THIS MUST BE AGREED WITH THE OWNER FIRST. THE SAME APPLIES TO YOUR PETS.
YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE A BOOKING FORM PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL.
