Acogedora cabaña frente al mar en Cranberry Lake

This is one of the worst and most embarrassing incidents that we have had happen in the years that we've been renting. We own completely the mistake of not being better prepared to help the renter gain entry, and it will not happen again. A full refund plus more to help cover their expenses was given, but that still will never cover the frustration that they endured. We can only hope that they might give us another chance at a future date.

This is one of the more detailed reviews from a guest that we have had, plus we and the guest have exchanged privately via email. A number of very good suggestions were made besides what has been mentioned in this review. We particularly like the one about the showerhead and will be making that change, and probably at least a couple others, for next season. But we have to address the comment about the use of floor space. The "random" curio cabinet is anything but random; as we explained to these guests in the private emails, much of the furniture taking up space there is the legacy of our dear departed parents, who lived on the lake and loved it until their fairly recent passings. The curio hutch is a family heirloom and everything in it is a family memento of some sort. We heirs to the property want to continue to honor our mom and dad there on the lakefront that they loved so much. We realize that we tread a fine line between providing a habitable and relatively navigable interior space for our rental guests and taking up valuable space for the purpose of enshrining our loved ones (full disclosure: our parents' ashes are in the cabinet as well). We just hope that most guests will not be too inconvenienced or disturbed by this. We use the word "cozy" to describe the place for a reason.

The mouse and squirrel presence has been an ongoing battle in our little old cabin. Despite our continued effort to find the holes through which the critters squeeze themselves to get in it seems that they just find new holes. The best way to keep mice away is for all guests to take along a cooler or snapable container in which to keep bread, chips, crackers, etc., and to leave no food out and keep surfaces clear of crumbs. We will be making a point of reminding our guests to do this in the future. Re. spiders, they too are a fact of life in the woods, but our cleaning crew is supposed to knock down webs and dust off surfaces. They are also supposed to clean the appliances. I feel that my crew does an exemplary job of preparing the cabin for the next guest, nevertheless we will be giving more attention to those kinds of details from now on. We deeply regret that this guest had to cut short their stay.
