Check-in and out was super easy. Property manager was quick to respond. The view was absolutely amazing. Loved having a cup of coffee in the morning watching over the water.

Wonderful time

We had a great stay at the house. The property had a beautiful view we enjoyed waking up to every morning. The house was super clean and everything felt updated and new. We stayed with friends and our kids, it was a perfect stay.

Amazing Property

We had a fabulous stay. The house was immaculately clean and very well appointed. We had everything we needed and the location was perfect. The view of the river was beautiful and we felt very secluded and were able to disconnect and truly enjoy each others company.

Beautiful home.

The home is lovely. Beautiful view of the woods and Potomac. Very private. Warm welcome from the host and a welcome basket of goodies. Unfortunately the screen on the porch door was ripped so there were frequent bugs on the porch and it could not be used in the evening with lights on. The town of Shepherdstown is charming with a farm market and cute shops and great restaurants. Grass roof is very unique. Really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing get away.

Wonderful Home and Property

My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The view of the river was beautiful. The property is private with a serene vibe. The house itself was amazing, everything was well thought out, high quality comfortable furniture and bed, great kitchen. There really is a grass roof! Exceeded expectations. The pictures don’t do it justice. Excellent communication with Tony. Shepherdstown was a short drive away and nice to walk around.

Convenient & awesome

The property is located at a decent height above the river and provides a great view. Getting down to the river level was quite easy. It has good amenities and is very well-maintained. It is very pet-friendly. We were a group comprising four couples - with enough separation of the bedrooms and ample spaces to meet as a full group. Communication with the property manager & owner before, during, and after the stay is quite easy and they were both very responsive.

Comfortable, beautiful stay

We stayed here for a long overdue girls weekend. We enjoyed each having our own rooms and plenty of space. The view from the home is absolutely spectacular and we had lovely conversations sitting on the deck overlooking the river. Would absolutely stay here again.

Sunrise on the Potomac

Our family enjoyed the Potomac River views and peacefulness of the property. The location with nearby Shepherdstown and Harper's Ferry was wonderful! Wildlife walked the property, and the outdoor fire pit and hot tub were a bonus for everyone. The house is open and comfortable and the picture windows invited the natural elements inside for all to enjoy!

Family Vacation

Our family stayed at the Potomac River Retreat this summer for a full week. It was lovely. The location is great. The wifi was hit or miss... but we were on vacation so that was fine! The hot tub was great to have. We had a small problem with bee's, but the owner, Tony, let us know that he was dealing with a pest control company before we even checked in. His communication was very good. The home was clean and very unique! The grass roof was something I had never seen before! If I had to find one thing for improvement, it would be the curtains in the master bedroom. They are sheer enough to see through and if anyone was walking to the hot tub, they could see right in. This could be a concern of privacy for some. We improvised and personally was not that big of a deal. The town of Shepherdstown is very nice! If you like old towns with a unique vibe, this is it! Harpers Ferry is close by and also a great place to visit. DC is just an hour and a half away. We did a day trip. I recommend, if you are in to it, taking the ghost walk in Shepherdstown. It was very cool! Overall, it was a great vacation.

Award winning, stunning home-with a few quirks

The property is so interesting-my daughter found it's an award-winning berm house (built into the hill that it's on, you only see a small part of it when you drive up, and part of what you see is a grass roof of the downstairs!). The view of the Potomac is spectacular (especially when you get a two story view from the 2nd floor) and it is beautifully designed, with stone and a beautiful carpet on the main living area wall. Minor issue-my daughter and fiance stayed in the upstairs bedroom(s). The bed in the room on the right after you enter the home was soft, to the point of them rolling into the middle of the bed, and the room on the left they thought was a double rather than a queen, but after the first night they said they were comfortable. One other issue to be aware of-the master bath/downstairs bath connects the great room and the master bedroom, with 2 doors to close if you want privacy. It also means that someone in the great room has to wait to get into the MB, and vice versa. Be aware, especially if you are arriving at night and are not used to country roads-there's a LOT of twists and turns, as well as hills that you can't see beyond until you're at the crest. I am not a shy driver, but the 25-30 mph speed limit for a good portion of those roads really is appropriate. That said, we has a lovely stay-saw 3 of the plays at this year's CATF, had some wonderful meals at Lilah's and Maria's Taqueria, and enjoyed relaxing in Tony's beautiful home!
