Thank you, Maayke, for your comment. I am truly sorry that your stay did not go well, especially given your particular circumstances. Please accept our sincere apologies. As I explained to you upon your arrival, the previous tenants left the house in a deplorable state. The cleaning lady worked for two whole days and had never seen the house in such a condition in six years. Nevertheless, yes, the house was not clean when you arrived, you are right, and we deducted one night from your stay for the inconvenience, which is worth noting.
Now, I would like to address your comments. "The house needs urgent maintenance." It is an old house, and yes, it does require maintenance, like all old buildings, but it is not falling apart, if that’s what you are implying. Thank you for understanding. The "mold" you mentioned is actually not mold but moisture against the chimney wall upstairs. There was a huge storm in the spring, water seeped in, and we have to wait (months) for it to dry before we can repaint the damaged part of the wall. It makes sense. The "rotten window" I checked—well, before opening the window, you first have to turn the handle, otherwise, it will break, which is unfortunate, but that one is on you, I'm afraid.
As for the shower, indeed, it is our fault. There was a small leak before we left in July, and we did not think it would escalate so quickly. We replaced the ceiling right after your departure and will completely redo the bathroom in the fall.
Thank you for your comment about the garden, but I don’t know what to say or do about it. We love it as it is. We don’t like short grass and we love nature to thrive, especially in the summer when everything becomes lush. We wouldn't want any other garden in the world, It’s a matter of taste.
The mattresses on the beds are recent, all latex or memory foam and of high quality (Pirelli, Simmons, Dunlopillo). They are firm but not hard. Again, a matter of taste.note that You are the first person to complain about them.
"The outdoor table with 4 chairs, 3 of which are broken." I just went to check; one is indeed broken, but not by us. The other three are fine.
"It's not enough for 7 people." You are absolutely right; it's for 4. It's a small additional table we use for breakfast, as everyone gets up at different times. It serves as a rotating table. However, it would have been fair to mention that a table with two benches and two chairs that can accommodate 8 people is in the garden in front of the house. I am surprised you didn’t see it; it’s between the front door and the kitchen door, so it's hard to miss.
Once again, sorry for this disappointing stay. Please note that the subsequent tenants were delighted with their stay and found the house perfectly suited to their taste. Have a good day.
