Charming 4 Bedroom 4 Bathroom Gite - 2 Adjoining Cottages - Heated Plunge Pool

Maison La Roche Gite is 2 small stone cottages adjoined to create 1 larger accommodation with 4 bedrooms and 4 Bathrooms..

Each cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms (4 bedrooms 4 bathrooms in total). There are 2 well-equipped kitchens with dishwashers, etc., 2 living rooms, 2 TVs, etc.

There are 4 bedrooms in total, 1 is downstairs and has a double bed (150x200) ideal for anyone who may struggle with stairs or has mobility issues. Upstairs in that cottage there is another bedroom which has a King Size bed (160x200), this cottage has a shower room downstairs and an ensuite shower room upstairs.

The cottage next door is slightly larger and serves as a B&B outside of the summer months. It has both bedrooms upstairs and both have en-suite shower rooms. The double room has a 160x200cm bed. The second room has the option of a Super kingsize 180x200cm bed or 2 90x200cm single beds.

Ceiling fans are fitted in the upstairs bedrooms and we find that the cottages usually stay nice and cool during the summer if the doors and windows are closed during the heat of the day.

All linen and indoor towels (please bring your own pool towel!) are provided and your beds are made up and ready for you on arrival.

The main dining areas are outside 1 covered in the courtyard at the back of the properties and 1 in the garden under the pergola which provides some shade from the summer sun.
The garden is fully enclosed and located just across the quiet residents lane (5 metres)from the Gite. It has a private 4m Plunge Pool (Heated from 15 May until end September weather permitting ie. Over 20 degrees celsius) which is for the exclusive use of Gite guests only. The pool is intended as a cooling off only and is not suitable for swimming, we have a larger newly refurbed in 2023 municipal pool with slide approx 1km walk from the Gite should you require swimming for exercise.

There are lots of seating areas around the garden so that you can relax in the sun or the shade.

We do welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs by prior agreement. There is an extra charge of 50 euros per stay for dogs. We unfortunately do not accept heavy shedding breeds during the summer.

The Gite is located in a wonderful area with lots of walks and great bike rides available to you. (We can recommend good bike hire companies or bring your own bikes). We are located just 200 metres from the River Vienne and there are many activities close by including Bungee Jumping, zip lining, climbing confidence courses, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and lots more. Further away we have the wonderful town of Chauvigny with its Antique markets and old historic town up on the hill well worth a day visit. We have the historic town of Montmorillon within 30 minutes drive and Poitiers and Limoges approx 1 hour drive from the Gite with the famous Futuroscope in Poitiers. There is also the fabulous Valley of the Monkeys approx 30 minutes drive away which is well worth a day out visit the Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Orangutans and much more.

There are 3 restaurants within 500 metres of the Gite which cater for most needs during the summer:

The Restaurant- Les Reflets de La Vienne, situated close to the River Vienne and facing the spectacular Viaduct. They offer a daily Menu du jour which is excellent and a good selection for the evenings, they also always offer a Vegetarian/Vegan option!! A fabulous place to unwind and watch the world go buy, enjoy the terrace for drinks, a meal or both. Situated just 400 meters walk from the Gite.

There is a bar/restaurant La Viaduc just 200 metres walk from the cottage which is also a Tabac. They serve very nice Pizzas, Burgers and Steaks and much more and are open everyday (except Sunday) from mid April until End of September. Arrive before 8pm if you want to order food.

Down the hill from the Viaduc Restaurant/bar there is another restaurant called La Barrage which is open most lunch times and most Friday and Saturday evenings in summer with a popular Fish and Chips night every first Friday of the month. Please book in advance.

For more restaurants and bars you can walk into L'isle Jourdain across the river or the Viaduct approximately 1km from the Gite.

Across the river into l’isle Jourdain you also have a supermarket, pharmacy, bakery/patisserie etc.
