The location is ideal, as you can leave your car behind and enjoy the local facilities and take a walk right from the door up the Simonside Hills. Rothbury is only 12 miles from the historic market town of Alnwick, making a day trip to visit the castle, stunning gardens and cobbled streets just a short journey away. It is less than a mile to Cragside House and Gardens, which sits on the edge of the village, a marvellous National Trust site with something for all ages. A day trip up to the Northumbrian Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is an absolute must with pretty coastal villages, where miles of golden sandy beaches and historic castles await. Visit the coastal villages of Bamburgh, Seahouses or Beadnell. Travel inland to the World Heritage site of Hadrians Wall and explore the remains of the Roman Forts, the wall itself or visit The Sill. Of course Northumberland also has the fabulous highly acclaimed Dark Sky Park around Kielder, all within easy reach of Rothbury.
