A hidden gem is this house at the pond: For lovers of fish and shellfish, the charming holiday home Maison d'Etang is a real gem! In a very romantic spot, you can enjoy complete privacy, plenty of peace and quiet and, above all, your private fish pond. With no less than 3,000 m2 the pond offers living space for various species of carp and even American crayfish! Thus, this place guarantees culinary delights and pure relaxation in the heart of the Dordogne.

Your holiday villa is located on a hill in a small hamlet with about eleven houses, half of which are permanently inhabited. Your holiday home was also used as a residence until recently. This season it will be rented out for the first time so that guests can also get to know the (culinary) highlights of the Périgord Vert.

A small road up leads you to the 6,500 m2 large grounds of your well hidden holiday home. A steel fence guarantees your privacy and gives access to your holiday domain. The holiday home, surrounded by nature, is built in an authentic style with natural materials such as wood, stone and marble. It is a sublime whole, everything is just right: the very high ceilings, ancient wooden beams, playful differences in levels, lots of light and a view through to the pond are characteristic of the atmosphere of the house and connect the inside with the outside. The reception/lounge area is a lovely central space where everyone can find a place to relax or play. A few wooden steps lead to the level of the living room with a wood-burning stove and a spacious kitchen. The modern kitchen is also fully equipped.

Adjacent to the living room, the sun-drenched terrace - as well as the elevated outdoor lounge area - offers a view of the garden and the romantic pond. Enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing drink in each other's company while you can watch the children play in the brand new heated swimming pool. And don't forget to make plans for the next day: the area offers plenty of opportunities for wonderful trips with the whole family. You can visit various castles and caves, discover charming medieval towns and enjoy the delicacies of the Périgord at various markets.

Séjour agréable en Dordogne

Cadre très agréable dans une maison atypique. Quel bonheur d'avoir des chambres à coucher climatisées. Des sorties sportives et touristiques. Absence d'un micro onde pour les plats cuisinés. Pas de décodeur pour la TV mais une connexion chromecast nécessitant l'installation d'une application sur le téléphone portable, ce qui a pénalisé les petits enfants et les personnes âgées.

Stunning house and location. Great size for 6 adults. Pool and crayfish pond great fun.

Sylvio and Monique were lovely and the perfect hosts. Kept us well informed and were there if we needed them.

Nice property needs some work

Overall a nicely refurbished traditional property, very good kitchen, excellent bathrooms. Everything brand new and good quality (appliances, utensils, linens etc). Host/property manager are friendly, helpful and responsive. Well located for Perigord Vert attractions and Thiviers is a lovely village with everything you need. Property needs some improvement: - 3rd bedroom not really ready for use (no door, temporary steps) not made fully clear in the listing - Pool is not on the property or sole use. It’s the owners pool next door. Again not clear on the listing. Pool heating / filtration only worked for 1.5 days of our week rendering it unusable for most of the stay. - Garden and outdoor areas need a lot of work. No covered outdoor seating / eating area at all. Front of property gets most of the sun and no seating area or terrace there. Back terrace gets sun only for about an hour early morning. Means no sunny place to have a barbecue or eat dinner outside Overall nice but the things above would need to be rectified for me to return as they really affect the quality of the stay I would not recommend for families with small children (pond isn’t fenced or safe) or elderly / mobility limited guests (stairs are very steep)

Brilliant holiday home!

This is a fantastic and relaxing place to stay for a week. The children loved the games, table tennis and space in the garden. The house overlooks a large pond that is full of wildlife to watch and there is a nice short walk around it through the trees. The furnishings are very tastefully done and the rooms are all spacious. 15 minutes drive away is one of the best lakes for swimming we have found with a great sandy beach, clear warm water and a small cafe serving good take away food. The owners are very friendly and always available if needed but give you all the privacy you need. The only small issue is that on our week the weather had some bad days and the house was a little cold but there is a big fire that can be used. All in all a great place to stay.
