Penthouse Bellesguard

Thank you for highlighting the apartment’s terrace, the quality of the cleaning team and the courteous communication throughout your stay. We are sorry that certain aspects did not meet your expectations, but some factual points in the review require clarification for future guests. The apartment is called Bellesguard, whereas the nearby residential complex is called Bellresguard. These are not the same name: in Catalan, Bellesguard can be read as bell esguard, meaning “beautiful view”, while Bellresguard contains the different word resguard, meaning “shelter” or “protection”. The former is particularly appropriate for a sea-facing penthouse and was also chosen as a tribute to Antoni Gaudí’s famous Torre Bellesguard in Barcelona. Our listing has never stated that the apartment forms part of the Bellresguard residential complex, and its precise location is shown accurately on the listing map. The similarity between two differently spelled Catalan names may have caused the guest some confusion, but it does not constitute false advertising. Our published check-in time is from 4:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am. The guest had requested access three hours before the standard check-in time, but we explained in advance that this could not be guaranteed because other guests were departing that day. Luggage was accepted at 4:00 pm and access to the apartment was provided at 5:00 pm because the cleaning team required one additional hour to complete its work. We apologised for that one-hour delay beyond the stated check-in time, but describing this as effectively losing an entire day is not an accurate representation of what occurred. We sincerely regret the considerable inconvenience caused by the lift. It was taken out of service following an incident shortly before this stay, rather than being a longstanding problem known to us when the reservation was made. The lift company attended to replace the necessary part but discovered an additional fault during the repair. As the lift is communal equipment serving the entire building, its maintenance and repair are managed by the owners’ association and building administrator, not directly by the apartment owner. Nevertheless, we repeatedly followed up and kept the guest informed of the information provided to us. The apartment is not advertised as having a dedicated desk or workspace. When an additional table and chair were requested before arrival, we explained that we were unable to add furniture that was not included in the accommodation, although the kitchen counter and stools provide a usable working surface. The possible washing-machine issue was first reported during this stay, and we requested further information so that the precise fault could be identified and the appropriate assistance arranged. The rate, facilities, location, check-in and check-out times were all clearly displayed before the reservation was confirmed. While we respect the guest’s personal assessment of value, we believe these factual clarifications are important for anyone considering the apartment.
