Super cottage

Spent a fab few days at Chestnut Cottage. A really fabulous place to stay. Very comfortable and beautifully presented cottage with everything we needed. A great base outside of the busy, touristy towns with an easy walk into Winchcombe. Excellent for dogs too with an enclosed patio and access to fields beyond.

Beautiful barn in a great location

We really enjoyed our stay in Chestnut cottage. Beautiful barn in a wonderful setting. The barn was well equipped and very comfortable. Great location with lovely walks.

The Perfect Retreat

This was honestly the perfect retreat. Tucked away down a lane in a small gated community, it was the perfect place to relax. The accommodation was peaceful, beautifully appointed, luxurious beds and quite frankly everything you could want. Even the local gardener provided us with freshly grown and picked produce, ie/ the best tomatoes I have ever tasted! A lovely patio looking out across the field and over to the mountains was a great place to have our breakfast each morning. Lovely walks into Winchcombe by the river too. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break. Thank you to the owner and Bolthole Retreats!!

Great stay and location while exploring the Cotswolds

Lovely cottage that has everything you need. Comfy bed, fantastic shower and bath. The secure outside space and the field for the dogs was great! Would highly recommend! Only negative was the sofas weren't very comfy.

Such a wonderful, peaceful setting

A lovely break. Almost a retreat. The setting was so peaceful and the cottage so comfortable it was a pleasure to stay there. Beds were comfy. Kitchen well equipped. Only downside I can think of is that there were no outside cushions!! Location was good for places of interest. We’d definitely stay again, hopefully soon.

Relaxing stay at Chestnut Cottage

We enjoyed our stay in this cosy ,well equipped and peaceful cottage in the Cotswolds.The cottage is in a great location for walks,visiting Winchcombe,Sudeley castle and the local preserved railway.We would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

We loved Chestnut Cottage. We had a lovely 4 nights. The property is beautifully decorated, homely and in a great location. Great walks and a good field for our dog. We would definitely recommend and would really love to return. We can’t fault anything!

Chestnut cottage stay May 2025

We stayed at Chesnut cottage in May 2025 for three nights. We found the property and location perfect. It was on the outskirts of Winchcombe with an easy 15 minutes stroll to the village. The Cotswolds way is nearby and plenty of walks from the cottage.

The accommodation was in very good order, spacious and well appointed. As walkers the property was well located about 1 mile from the centre of Winchcombe. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to friends .

The perfect retreat!

Chestnut Cottage was perfect in every way! We loved our stay and everything about it exceeded our expectations! It is lovely to have luxury dog friendly accommodation. With walks straight from the cottage, we hardly used our car for the whole week. We will definitely book with Bolthole Retreats again and recommend to friends and family.

Wonderful stay at Chestnut Cottage

We had an excellent long weekend stay at Chestnut Cottage. The property was lovely, with no expense spared on the interior and the amenities there. The location was also great, and within easy reach of nearby places such as Winchcombe and Cheltenham. The hosts were also available when needed, with help given straight away when struggling with the entry code. Would definitely recommend.

Chestnut Cottage - Winchcombe

The property is absolutely gorgeous (and I'm fussy). All finished to a high spec. The bed was super comfortable with luxurious bedding. The grounds and setting was so relaxing. Winchcombe is a gem - absolutely delightful. I loved it all and will return.

Great place to stay

Would highly recommend. The property is finished to a high standard very clean and well maintained. Our only constructive feedback would be to have a hoover in the property, we have two young children so it would have been great to be able to clean up a bit more ourselves.

A fabulous break

Met up with my friend for a week at Chesnut Cottage and we absolutely loved it. The house is very spacious and very well presented and had everything we needed. The location is fabulous - so quiet but equally so close to everything. The whole experience from booking to leaving at the end of the holiday was smooth and issue free. We will definitely be returning!

Overall Fantastic Cottage

Location - Great High end kitchen items Beds - comfy Cleanliness - Fantastic Wifi - poor (router was down the hallway other end if the living room and kept loosing connection for the advertised Smart TV. Sofa - needs to be a high back ideally Would recommended and would book again.

Peaceful Retreat

Generally all round very accommodating. Lovely farm eggs, good parking. Lovely peaceful atmosphere. Only complaint is you need to update your TV software, Lots of channels weren't on the TV. It didn't spoil the holiday.

Fantastic week

A truly amazing week!! The cottage was delightful, extremely well furnished and equipped, beds amazedly comfortable and a stunning location. The owners were so helpful as was the gardener. Was sorry to leave but will be back at some point. Sue for Sussex and Bev from Canada.
