The space:
The lodge blends the character of its Georgian setting with the comfort and practical touches you need for an easy stay. Expect high ceilings, large windows, parquet flooring, generous rooms and calming views of the surrounding gardens.
There is space to gather for meals and evenings by the fire, as well as plenty of room for everyone to spread out when they want some quiet time.
Lounge:
The large lounge has garden views, deep sofas and plenty of comfortable seating. The log-burning fire makes it especially inviting after a day walking, exploring or getting caught in classic Lake District weather.
A 60-inch television with Sky and Netflix is ready for relaxed film nights, while the book collection offers something quieter to enjoy beside the fire. The lounge also contains a sofa bed, which can be prepared by prior arrangement.
Dining room:
Dating back to around 1700, the dining room is the oldest part of the property and full of character. Its parquet floor, atmospheric lighting and table for six make it a lovely place for leisurely breakfasts, family dinners and celebratory meals.
The games cupboard is stocked with board games, puzzles and toys for children and adults.
Kitchen:
The refurbished kitchen is fully equipped for everything from a quick breakfast to a long dinner at home. Facilities include an oven, grill, microwave and American-style fridge-freezer with an ice dispenser, along with a generous selection of cookware, crockery and glassware.
A small sitting nook overlooks the garden and makes a peaceful spot for morning coffee.
Bedrooms Main bedroom:
The spacious main bedroom has a super king-size bed, period shutters, a decorative arch and an original fireplace fitted with an electric fire. Garden views, a seating area and generous storage create a calm, comfortable room in which to settle in.
Second bedroom:
The second bedroom can be arranged as either two single beds or one super king-size bed, making the lodge flexible for families, couples and groups of friends. It is another bright, generous room with a high ceiling and views over the gardens.
Please let us know your preferred bed arrangement before arrival.
Bathroom and WC:
The main bathroom was refurbished in 2022 and includes a full-size bath and an electric shower. Large period windows fill the room with natural light.
There is also a separate second WC beside the boot room.
Family stays:
The generous layout makes The Pheasant Lodge particularly comfortable for families. Children have room to play, while adults can still find a quiet corner to read or relax.
The games cupboard contains toys, games and puzzles, and the lounge is set up for family film nights. Children’s cutlery, a high chair, bed-side guard and a travel cot are available on request. Please bring your own cot bedding.
Outside, the private garden areas provide space to play or enjoy a picnic. As the property is surrounded by countryside and natural garden boundaries, younger children should be supervised outdoors.
Gardens:
The gardens are one of the most special parts of staying at The Pheasant Lodge. Greenery can be seen throughout the apartment, creating a peaceful connection with the surrounding countryside in every season.
Guests have three private areas to enjoy:
A hedged front garden that catches the evening sun A long side lawn beside the apartment A private walled garden for outdoor meals and drinks
Outdoor furniture and a picnic table are provided. In warmer weather, the gardens are perfect for breakfast outside, afternoon games or a quiet drink beneath the apple tree.
Boot room and practical facilities:
The boot room gives you a dedicated place to leave coats, muddy boots and walking equipment after a day outdoors. It contains a washing machine, electric drying rack and ironing facilities, along with a selection of spare wellies and walking boots to borrow.
The lodge is powered by solar panels, and we provide eco-friendly hand soap and washing-up liquid. Recycling facilities are available for guests.

The accommodation is arranged across the ground floor, with two single steps inside: one step down into the bathroom and one step up into the kitchen.
You can drive directly up to the property and park approximately one metre from the front door. The entrance is around 90cm wide, and the rooms are spacious.
Private off-road parking is available for up to three cars on the driveway.

Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Hannah Isichei
I’m Hannah and my family and I began refurbishing Pheasant Lodge in 2021. When we first found it, the house was full of character but needed care and modernisation. Our goal was to bring back its charm, keeping the Georgian and Victorian features while adding the comforts guests expect today. I especially love the huge windows that frame the green gardens and the parquet floors in the dining room — they make the lodge feel both grand and homely.
I have family ties in the Lake District and know Cartmel and its surroundings well. This area is full of history, beauty and incredible food, and I’m sure you will fall in love with it just as I have. A welcome pack in the house is filled with local recommendations, but you’ll already find so much to enjoy right on the doorstep. I’m always happy to help with suggestions to make your stay memorable.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Pheasant Lodge sits in Field Broughton, a peaceful hamlet in the Cartmel Valley within the Lake District National Park. Quiet and rural, yet close to many of Cumbria’s most loved attractions, it makes the perfect base.
Cartmel, just 2 miles away, is one of the prettiest villages in the northwest and a true foodie destination. The Lake District now has more Michelin stars than anywhere in the UK outside London, with Cartmel at its heart. Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume and Rogan & Co are here, with Heft a short drive away. Alongside fine dining you will find cosy pubs such as The Cavendish, artisan shops and the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding shop. The 12th-century Cartmel Priory is a striking landmark, and Cartmel Racecourse hosts nine meetings a year.
Grange-over-Sands, a short drive away, has supermarkets, cafés, local shops and the renowned Higginsons butchers. Its promenade is perfect for a gentle stroll with views across Morecambe Bay.
The wider area is full of outdoor adventures. At the southern tip of Lake Windermere you can take boat rides, try paddleboarding, go wild swimming or simply relax by the shore. Ferries link Lakeside with Bowness and Ambleside, where you can explore Wray Castle and Brockhole. Coniston is also nearby for water sports and walking. Local favourites include Hampsfell with views over Morecambe Bay, as well as Gummer’s How and High Dam. For keen walkers, the Wainwright peaks are within reach.
History and culture are close too. Visit Holker Hall, Levens Hall, Blackwell or Sizergh Castle, each with beautiful gardens. Families will enjoy the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the miniature railway at Millerbeck.
This part of the Lake District combines world-class food, history, family attractions and spectacular scenery. The perfect setting to explore, eat well and return to the comfort of Pheasant Lodge.
