Isabel Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom

Isabel's Cottage is a traditional, luxury Lakeland cottage situated within a minute's walk to shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes, close to Fitz Park and an easy walk to Derwentwater.

This is an ideal cottage for two: cosy, central, quiet, well-finished, and with an attention to detail.

The lounge has everything you could need or want, including a leather sofa and a log-burning stove. The Smart TV means you can log into your own streaming service to watch a movie and relax after a day of adventures.

The modern kitchen has a breakfast bar, under-counter fridge with ice box, integrated microwave, oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washer-dryer, and a Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine.

The bedroom has a superking bed (That can be split to twin beds on request - £15 charge applies), wall-mounted Smart TV, and an impressive en-suite walk in shower room. The bed will be made up with luxury, crisp-white linen and towels for your arrival.

To the front of the cottage is a small outside space with a bench on which to relax and pass an hour or two.

There is parking for one car available, however you should note that entry to the car park is down a narrow alley, so this is best suited to a small-to-medium car. There is plenty of unrestricted on-street parking close by.

A parking permit may be available for the local long stay car park (2min walk away) @ £30 for a week £20 for a short break.

Keswick offers plenty of activities and amenities for your stay. Whether you're looking for adventure activities, retail therapy, or new and exciting things to do, there's something to keep everyone entertained.

Need to stock up on groceries for your self-catering Keswick holiday? Booths and Co-Op are Keswick's two main supermarkets, with produce also available on the Keswick Markets.

If you're looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Keswick is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Keswick to local train stations

We loved the cottage we have rebooked it. The only complaint was the sofa it was too small and not very comfortable.

We just wanted to gently clarify your comment about the sofa. The sofa in the cottage is an electric reclining model, and once reclined it offers a much more comfortable seating experience. This is mentioned in the guest guide provided before arrival and within the property, but we completely understand it’s something that can be easy to miss if you’re not expecting it. Another great stay at Isobel

This is our third holiday at Isobel and once again proved to be a superb cottage for our stay. Central location and great base for many walks with our dog, didn’t move the car all week. A few minor issues that were quickly resolved. Access road to the cottage is too narrow for our SUV so parked in Otley Road car park. Another great holiday and we will certainly be back next year.

Excellent

Keswick Cottages provided a truly memorable stay with a perfect balance of comfort and charm. The property was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing getaway. Its location was ideal peaceful and surrounded by stunning natural scenery, yet still conveniently close to local shops. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, making it easy to settle in and feel at home right away. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I would highly recommend Keswick Cottages to anyone.

Great little house

Perfect little house in a great location. Even though there isn’t really designated parking unless you have a tiny car there is always somewhere nearby to park. Will definitely stay here again. The receptionist at Keswick Cottages was delightful and couldn’t help enough.

Amazing cottage, finished to a high standard, in the centre of Keswick.

Amazing cottage in the centre of Keswick, finished to a very high standard. The bed was really comfy, just what was needed after exploring the surrounding area. The bathroom was very roomy and the shower (both waterfall and rainfall settings) was fabulous. Millie the cockapoo especially enjoyed her welcome gift, a lovely personal touch.

Hi, Jon! Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Isabel. We’re sorry to hear you experienced difficulty with the parking and that this resulted in damage to your car. For clarity, the allocated parking space and access are clearly described in our property details, including notes about the approach. There is plenty of space to park and manoeuvre in the courtyard, but the short alley to access the courtyard requires slow and careful driving; naturally, as you cross a footpath to access it. This is visible via Google Maps, for any future guests reading. We always advise guests to contact us if they are unsure or uncomfortable using the allocated space, as alternative parking can be offered where available, and there are unrestricted on‑street parking options nearby. Most guests manage with zero issues. Unfortunately, as we weren’t contacted at the time, we weren’t given the opportunity to assist or suggest alternatives that may have avoided this situation. We also note that you awarded a four‑star rating overall, which would typically indicate that there were positive aspects to your stay. We would have loved hearing about these too, as balanced feedback is helpful both for us and for future guests considering the property. Thank you again for your comments. Great short break

We loved Isabel cottage. We visit Keswick several times a year so normally look out for a more economical stay but it was worth spending a bit more for the luxury. The team at Keswick Cottages were very helpful and super efficient with sending the info re booking.

Return visit

Excellent experience last year so decided to spend another week at the same cottage. The location is prime as are the transport links if you don’t fancy driving. Excellent walks nearby and fabulous places to eat. Would recommend Chinty’s for breakfast/ brunch followed by a walk to Castle Head for an amazing view.

High Spec - great location

this is a great apartment in a fantastic location. The parking is very difficult - i.e. to narrow for standard cars - but long-term parking is close.

Lovely tidy clean cottage within Keswick and everything that you would need. Parking not an issue either. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

Great little property

Little gem, everything what you needed for short stay mon-fri. Clean and comfortable property with all the extras, so you don't neeed to bring kitchen sink. Quiet and peaceful yet in the heart of keswick. Alley was extremely tight, mirror to mirror on kia sportage but plenty of free parking around locally so no need to risk scratching car. Definitely stay again.

Our 2nd visit to Isobel Cottage

A super comfortable one bedroom cottage in an excellent location in the centre of Keswick. Dog friendly and the glorious Fitz Park is just down the road. The narrow access road/alley made parking difficult so we opted for a pass in the local public parking. Very convenient for the shops, local walks and the bus station. This is our second time at Isobel Cottage and I am sure we will return,

Lovely stay in a great spot

Very nice cottage in an ideal location in Keswick. You do need to be a confident driver with a small-to-medium sized car to use the parking space and not feel somewhat stressed but we found it fine. The cottage is well equipped with modern fittings and was very comfortable. Very easy access to good restaurants and pubs.

Great bank holiday stay

This is a lovely/cosy cottage in a great central location. Getting to the car parking space is quite tight down a narrow lane but achievable We had an issue with the kettle leaking, but this was resolved immediately after a quick phone call to Keswick cottages.

lovely cottage

lovely cottage, very well equipped, warm and super clean. No problems parking, we have a Polo, but the street down to the cottage is narrow. Only downside was a bit of noise from the local pub on Friday evening. Would love to stay here again.

A last minute booking

First time booking with Keswick cottages. We were asked to provide photo ID,so popped into Keswick cottages on day off arrival 7th April. The lady behind the desk told us cottage was still being cleaned ,and had to be checked. She said she would call us when cottage was ready, checked our phone number, yet she never contacted us ? The best thing about this cottage is the upstairs. The large comfy bed is great, especially after being out all day and feel tired. Home from home for us having TV on wall in bedroom. Great big walk in shower, and a lovely luxury hand wash at bathroom sink. Would have been better if there was somewhere to hang hand towel near sink, maybe a towel holder on wall ,as floor was wet if you hang towel on door hooks or towel radiator. Downstairs a lovely huge kitchen for size of room, great if you like to cook on holiday ,plenty of worktop space The worst thing about this cottage for us, was the living area ,very small. There is a small two seater leather reclining sofa, sounds lovely, but very small for two people. Would have preferred a larger area to relax in at night, than a Big oversized kitchen. Overall a really nice decorated cottage. Someone has put a lot of thought into the upstairs

Lovely stay in Isabel Cottage

Isabel Cottage is in a great location, worth paying the additional fee for a parking permit as parking outside the cottage could be very difficult. The cottage was very clean, modern and comfortable. Could benefit from additional larger drawer storage in the bedroom. But other than that perfect.

Manoeuvring into the designated parking area for the first time can be daunting, the old buildings and narrow roads of Keswick town are unfortunately not all totally adaptable to our modern needs, so the car parking pass can be a good alternative for those with larger cars! Great location and great sleep!

Great location for exploring Keswick and the lovely restaurants and bars. Excellent to have a parking space. The description is very clear and helpful and the route to get in is definitely tight. We have a Skoda Yeti and we just managed but anything bigger might struggle. Very well equipped and very lovely comfortable bed and great shower.

A seven day respite

Top location in secluded courtyard. Main town at easy access. Warm and comfortable throughout. Great facilities to hand. Lovely bedroom with top spec shower and bathroom.great use of space in living room kitchen. Sound system and kitchen utensils a bit basic.

Fab weekend away

Last minute break way I gorgeous Keswick. We booked isibel cottage it was everything we need right in the town centre down a alley which is tight if you have a big variety but we managed it in thr range rover . Isobel cottage has living room kitchen down stairs comfy and well equipped. Lovely large king size bed with a walk in shower perfect for the 2 of us . There I'd a bench under thr front wi Dow to sit outside and chat with your neighbours Packhorse cout is across the way with lively bars resturants great please to stay

Amazing holiday cottage

Perfect location for what we wanted. The cottage was very comfortable with a decent spec. We wanted to ark up and just explore the Keswick surroundings. Two small gripes: the alleyway leading in the courtyard was horrendous, we got in ok but really struggled to get back out. I'd advise to park elsewhere. Also the cooker wasn't easy to work. However once we realised it was still in showroom mode, it wasn't too bad. The staff came out to help,very promptly but we sorted ourselves.

A week to remember

My first, very enjoyable visit to Keswick. The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable and with everything I needed for my week’s stay. The great shower was really appreciated after a long day in the hills. I had a problem with the washing machine, (my fault), and someone came round from Keswick Cottages immediately to help. I took note of the parking description and yes, the narrow alley entrance was a challenge but manageable. The cottage is in a perfect location and once parked the car stayed there for a week. I walked out every day or used the excellent and very cheap bus service. I would definitely make a return visit. .

Fifty fifty

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped, good location in the town centre, but the instructions on how to find the cottage weren't very accurate. To say the lane to the cottage and ease of parking were tricky is an understatement, extremely difficult small space to park and blocked in by the neighbours. Area surrounding the property was scruffy. For personal reasons, we had to leave a couple of days early, email communication with Keswick Cottages was not responded to. Sent 3 emails to inform them.....still waiting for a reply!

A great cottage in the centre of Keswick

Isabel cottage is in an ideal location right in the centre of Keswick. The cottage was very clean on arrival. The whole cottage is of a high standard for a holiday rental with the kitchen containing all you need. The bedroom is very comfortable and the super-king bed great. The shower room again was a very high standard. The cottage was lovely and warm and the log burner was enjoyed on an evening. The only small negatives were the sofa is not very comfortable and we thought the sitting room could be improved with 2 comfy armchairs instead. As other reviewers have mentioned the alleyway to the car parking space is very narrow, with a couple of doorsteps sticking out into it. It was easier to negotiate with the passenger getting out the car giving directions. Overall we really enjoyed our stay with 2 adults and a dog. We will definitely try and book it again if returning to Keswick.

Isabel cottage

What a lovely well appointed cottage in a central location. The cottage looks like it was recently refurbished with a new kitchen. Bathroom lovely and the shower is fantastic although the controls of the shower are a bit hard to use. Bedroom has the largest bed I have ever slept in almost didn’t know my wife was with me in there. Tv in living room is good and has Netflix etc . I had to reset the router to get the WiFi working and the smart tv in the bedroom would not link to the WiFi - lovely large screen in the bedroom though . WiFi issues could be to do with the broadband router being located behind the tv in the living room which may interfere with the signals . The settee in the living room isn’t the most comfortable especially for two people and could do with changing to make this cottage perfect. We had a small issue with ants in the kitchen on the first few days but this was addressed straight away for us. Altogether a great stay in a lovely cottage and very central location - greggs was just over the road for early morning breakfast butties before our daily hikes . I recommend this for a couple or to stay on your own .
