Opening the curtains to reveal the panorama across the sea towards Wales was amazing, a pity we couldn't take advantage and open the doors of the juliet balcony....too cold! Lovely to cosy down in the evenings with the wood burner blazing. Glorious walks on Exmoor. A little investigation revealed all information required and yes, the oven is a little difficult initially. A steel is provided for sharpening knives. Otherwise all mod cons.

Peace and tranquility. Beautiful sunrise views from the bedroom. Never heard the occupants next door even though the Coach House is adjoining. Cosy wood burner for the chilly nights. There was no interaction with the owners at all during the four nights we stayed which was just out of season so everywhere was quiet. Shame the local chip shop was closed would have liked to have tried it. It was opening the day we left. Great area for walkers. Cottage contained everything we needed ideal for a few nights of peace.

Porlock Weir is a wonderful place to visit, and this property offers a fantastic and uniterrupted view of the sea. The Weir itself has so much to offer, and the local eateries are exceptional. We had great breakfasts at The Porlock Weir Hotel, and great lunches/dinners from The Bottom Ship and Ziangs. Good location to travel to Minehead/Steam Railway and Dunster Castle and Village. Relaxing week.

The property definitely met all of those. The milk and wine in the fridge were a welcome touch. It is a lovely area to visit being within reach of several different resorts, Exmoor to explore, gardens to visit, the steam railway, Dunster castle -something for everyone.

Wow. What a find! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning to the Stables. I really enjoyed drinking my morning tea in bed watching the sea out the bedroom balcony doors! It was incredibly relaxing. The pub, cafe and beach are just a short walk down the hill (and all great). The coastal path runs along the beach at the bottom of the hill too and we walked in both directions which were really different to each other. We loved it! A lovely autumn coastal break and the Stables was perfect. We've already been recommending this place to friends and we will be coming back!

The harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is less than 1/4 mile from The Stable Block. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc.

The village of Porlock is approximately 1.5 miles from The Stable Block and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.

Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles from The Stable Block. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
