Spreading out before you is a gorgeous rural landscape of fields and rolling hillsides covered with fir, olive, almond and palm trees, a perfect backdrop for one of the island’s most distinctive images, the iconic monastery of Sant Salvador, perched high on its imposing cliff top in the near distance. From the grounds, private pool and expansive dining terrace you have nothing less than a front row seat for this inspiring panorama.
For many years the home of a delightful local family, it is obvious that Sa Cova is a house of great stature. Enviably located, in an extensive plot, private, welcoming and extremely well cared for both inside and out, the scene is set perfectly on arrival as you sweep in through the iron entrance gate to be greeted by an imposing façade of local Santanyi stone and a lovely, mature arbutus (colloquially known as the ‘strawberry tree’ after its vivid red fruits).
Internally décor is fresh and uncomplicated with a tasteful blend of antique and modern furnishings perfectly complementing the attractive beamed ceilings. Original, patterned ceramics are subtly inlaid in the staircase and local Mallorcan fabrics blend seamlessly with the more contemporary coloured cushions and curtains. Without exception the living accommodation is open and spacious allowing for easy sharing and relaxed summer living.
Fringed by extensive sun terraces, tall potted cacti and various mature shrubs, the larger than average private pool is south facing and easily accessed via Roman steps. An infinity edge ensures those bucolic views can even be enjoyed whilst swimming and the large in-built barbecue, sociably placed nearby, is sure to figure strongly in the lunch/dinner arrangements!
This is an authentic, unspoilt part of the island with everything needed to ensure an unforgettable holiday very close by. Just 3km away Felanitx offers all amenities including a comprehensive weekly market, there are several country restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive while Porto Colom’s numerous waterfront cafes (12km) are the destination of choice for seafood-loving locals. Golf at Vall d’Or is (14km) while the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Cala d’Or (18km) will appeal to anyone seeking brighter lights and a nightlife that is lively but never overpowering. There is a long list of beautiful sandy beaches along the nearby coastline with Cala Sa Nau (17km), Cala Mondragó (23km) and dune-backed Es Trenc (25km) being just three of our particular favourites.
