A rural hidden escape, Lisbue Barn really has it all, for couples or families looking for privacy and countryside within easy reach of the coast. This lovingly restored and converted barn, which dates back to the 18th century, offers a comfortable open plan living space and kitchen across the first floor with three bedrooms and a shower room on the ground floor. There is plenty of outside space with a lawned garden for dogs and little ones to run freely. It’s a very welcoming and homely space with luxury touches to make your holiday feel extra special. Feel away from it all with the ease of travelling to the north or south coast within minutes.
This really is a home from home and as soon as you leave your shoes at the door you will feel relaxed in the light and open spaces. It’s the perfect place to explore from, whether you are a family, two couples or one couple looking for extra space. It is secluded but only a mile away from being back on the road for your holiday adventures. Or leave the car and enjoy the countryside walks from your doorstep. It’s a walker’s delight with Drift dam nearby and many ancient places to visit such as Carn Euny Ancient Village. Or simply relax in the garden, listen to the birds and while away a day with ease in the countryside.
LOCATION
Located via a private driveway, Lisbue Barn is nestled into the countryside. The north and south coasts are minutes away with Sennen, Mousehole and Porthcurno within easy reach. Visit Newlyn for fresh seafood, Penzance for foodie delights or enjoy walks along the heritage north coast between St Just and St Ives, there is so much to enjoy from here.
Sancreed is the nearest village with scattered farms and hamlets. Sancreed Beacon offers views across the peninsula and the ancient village ‘Carn Euny’ nearby has one of the best-preserved fogous (Cornish-language word for cave) dating back to the Iron Age. Drift reservoir attracts many waterbirds for keen birders and you can enjoy a walk from here to nearby Trewidden Gardens.
LIVING
A reverse level barn you’ll find the living, dining and kitchen across the first floor, separated by the stairs opening up to this sociable area. With vaulted ceilings and large windows letting the light flood in, it is stylishly simple and retains the charm of a rustic barn with its wooden floors and textures, giving it a laid-back feeling. The living area is at one end with a wonderful large Danish wood burning stove. There are two leather armchairs and a comfortable sofa to sink back into after a day of exploring. The essential TV for relaxing together. The garden can be accessed from the living area, connecting to the outside. The granite steps leading to the lawn is a lovely spot to sit with the door open and enjoy the sun while watching rabbits hop along the lawn.
COOKING & EATING
The well equipped kitchen has everything you’ll need to rustle up a Cornish feast, within sociable reach of the open plan living space. There is an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and classic Cornishware, Le Creuset pans and Dualit appliances. The gorgeous little Welsh dresser is an eye-catching feature and there is a rustic dining table with benches for long leisurely dinners where conversation flows into the night. On that note, if you’d like a special event catered for, do ask as we have some superb contacts.
SLEEPING
You’ll find the three lovely light bedrooms downstairs, perfectly designed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep.
MASTER BEDROOM: A sumptuous Feather and Black super king bed with Hypnos mattress, soft wooden flooring, antique chest of drawers and a leather chair. Eye-catching artwork adorns the walls.
SECOND BEDROOM: A zip & link bed with Hypnos mattresses, this room can be made up as a super king or twins, you choose!
THIRD BEDROOM: A single bedroom with an old school childs size desk and views into the garden. The comfortable yet stylish chair is a sweet spot for reading an evening story at bedtime after a day of exploring.
BATHING
A spacious shower room on the ground floor with a large walk-in shower, two sinks and underfloor heating. There’s a heated towel rail to keep fluffy bath towels toasty.
