You are absolutely right that we are just outside Alfama, in Mouraria, which is a very central and historic neighbourhood with its own unique character. It can feel a bit more raw and lively compared to more polished areas, which some guests enjoy and others may find less comfortable. Regarding the floorboards, the building is traditional and full of original features, which can include some creaking. In terms of capacity, the apartment can accommodate larger groups, though we understand that with 8 adults it can feel more comfortable for some guests than others depending on preferences and space expectations. As for the neighbourhood, Mouraria is one of Lisbon’s most central and historic areas, with a very authentic and lived-in character. Like many city-centre neighbourhoods, it can feel lively and mixed at times, which some guests enjoy for its energy and convenience, while others may feel more comfortable in quieter areas. Our listing is carefully detailed, including descriptions of the neighborhood, layout, and amenities, and features a four-minute video showcasing every room. The ensuite showers in the two double bedrooms are also clearly mentioned. Our home preserves its historic charm rather than being remodeled into a modern hotel, and many of our guests appreciate this authentic character. We understand that preferences vary, and we encourage all guests to review the listing carefully before booking. Unfortunately, construction in the area is something beyond our control, and we were not made aware of it in advance. We regret any inconvenience it may have caused during your stay. Regarding the refund, we offered to reimburse any nights that were successfully rebooked, in line with our policy, which goes beyond VRBO’s standard terms. Since we were not promptly informed of your decision to vacate, we were unable to relist the home sooner. We also made multiple attempts to assist you, including offering solutions for additional storage, but unfortunately, we did not receive much communication in return. While we understand that a hotel may have been a better fit for your needs, we take pride in offering a unique home experience.
