Formally a tennis coach, I have travelled and lived in some great places. We set up our first holiday rental in Mallorca in 1996!, we then moved to Cape Town where we continued providing beautiful holiday homes, then Somerset in the UK. Our lastest (our 8th!) is in Gracia, the best area in beautiful Barcelona. My wife Lizbeth Holstein who is an Artist and I love to travel, especially city breaks where we can really immerse ourselves in the culture of the place.

Gràcia's neighbourhood is safe, peaceful, picturesque and bohemian. Feel instantly at home in this cozy and welcoming neighbourhood.
MODHouse 1 is in one of the best streets of Gràcia and just 200 meters from the emblematic Passeig de Gràcia. Its location is privileged. Close to Plaça de la Vila, Plaça del Sol in a quiet street, without traffic, it has all kinds of services necessary for a comfortable stay. Very good communication with public transport.
Why Gracia was THE place to choose for our Barcelona offering. Gràcia is home to one of Barcelona’s most famous tourism destinations: Park Güell. However, more important to the culture of Gracia are the relaxed plaças, the variety of charming cafés and restaurants, and the characteristic narrow streets into which they are all located. It is considered to be one of the most bohemian areas of Barcelona, with regular musical and artistic events.
The residents of Gràcia are bonded not so much by age or wealth as they are by a shared lifestyle. The area is popular with students, and yet is equally full of young families and friendly groups of retirees. What they have in common tends to be a love of the area and its artistic interest. At night, the plaças and their bars fill up to create a lively atmosphere, as well as a sense of community.
It is away from mass tourism and still keeps the charm of Catalan culture with a variety of plazas dotted around. It still maintains a lively atmosphere, for example, it hosts the oldest festival in Barcelona once a year in mid August.

(This is our 8th) The design by Barcelona based Studio Avlio really responded to our brief of non generic airbnb set ups to respect the amazing city of BCN, its culture, colours and vibe whilst ensuring our guests are delighted to stay here and sad to leave because their comforts and requirements are fully meet in an inspirational space.

Lily Helps, the creative force behind Studio Avilo, found inspiration for the apartment in the rich cultural tapestry of bullfighting. However, her focus was not on the sombre reality of the sport but rather on paying homage to Catalonia, the pioneering region in Spain that took a stand against the killing of bulls. The design narrative draws from various facets of bullfighting—ranging from the elegant attire to the fervent passion, the intricate delicacy, and the gentle curves reminiscent of the arena. Colours burst forth, reminiscent of the vibrant spectacle, while even the modest homes of esteemed bullfighters serve as a wellspring of inspiration. In essence, Lily Helps weaves a cohesive story that celebrates the cultural heritage of bullfighting in a way that is both respectful and aesthetically captivating.
