Really the only complaint we had was that upon first entry the home had an extremely strong odor of marijuana. The upstairs smelled of cigarettes. We did a lot of airing out but the upstairs smell seemed to linger our entire stay. The kitchen was very well equipped and everything else was nice and clean. The Candy Cane express train ran right behind the house which my grandchildren loved. The beach was fantastic!

the entire family loved being so close to the beach...we could not have asked for more.We had lots of teenagers and several pre teens...and never ran out of hot water!finding the light switch for the kitchen was a challenge, but once our 2 year old grandkid found it on the end of the island we were treated to on/off for the next several minutes. The kitchen was fairly well supplied...enough bowls and utensils for all. The gas grill worked great on the back porch. Only drawback was the ocean was COLD!

Perfect Space for a Girlfriends Getaway

Great Family Vacation Spot

We absolutely loved the house location and it's proximity to the beach. The house was large enough to accommodate 19 of us with a couple extra small children. We have come to Rockaway Beach for 7 of the last 8 years and this was by far the best place we have stayed. If the owners will have my motley crew, we will be back!

Great for large families

We have stayed at this property twice. Overall we like it due to its size (good for a large group of people) and it’s proximity to the beach. Our only issue this stay was one of the toasters had mouse droppings in it.

Pre Thanksgiving getaway

House was beautiful, just like the pictures showed. There were 17 of us total and there was adequate accommodations, parking was great, view was phenomenal. We would defiantly go back to this house

Great location

Great location. Well-equipped kitchen. Responsive rental agency. Very comfortable living room. Only downsides were electronics: entry code didn't work, no internet, couldn't get TV to work. However, we were enjoying our vacation so much none of the above challenges mattered much!

Family Vacay

Our vacation was super fun. Rental was clean and spacious. Perfect location. We explored the beach and other close towns. Big hit with the family. The only thing that put any damper on our stay were all 6 cameras. (All Outside). We felt like someone was always watching us. Grandkids didn’t like them either. This was very odd. Not sure we would stay at that rental again. Everything else was very nice and we appreciate how easy peezy it was for all of us to get there.

We had an outdoor fish bake that turned out delicious, had a costume contest based on movies that came out in 1979 (the two 10 year old kids were the judges) and all in all just a wonderful time. The house had everything that we needed with comfortable beds, great wifi and beautiful views. Thank you so much to everyone on the team who made our stay at The Strand so lovely!

Great family trip

We loved the property, the location and the surroundings. The only issue we had was trying to unlock the door. The code didn't work, then when we got the key it was stuck in the door. Also, the garbage was already full and little space to put ours. It blew around from the wind. Could use another can or more frequent pickup. But the house was beautiful and the view fantastic, and everything else worked well. Rooms were great and pretty soundproof. Loved seeing the tourist train came through too.

Reviewer Comments: the house was great for a large family and so very close to the beach. We only had 4 towels when we got there, several of the twin beds did not have linen on them and over all the floor was very dirty. The towels were brought out the next day after we called. I was not going to keep calling to complain about the house as we were only there 5 days.

We have been to many VRBO’s over the years, so we no our “O’s!” This vacation rental was perfect because: many beds, many rooms, easy to clean hardwood on the main, close to beach, large kitchen and lots of room for parking. Would highly recommend. The only negative was we were not able to get a password for WiFi. Which is awesome for most of us, but we did have a guest studying for a masters program that needed the computer. So maybe arrange that before.

Quiet street

We rented as a very last minute winter weekend because the weather was in the 70’s and found this place. The manager is very responsive and friendly. The property is on a dead end street which made it quiet and less crowded. It’s close to fun places to explore, lots of hiking and of course the beach is literally across the road. There were plenty of beds/rooms for the family and a great rooftop expansive deck to watch the gorgeous sunsets. Since you won’t be swimming in the ocean it’s great that there are runoffs that flow down the beach so the kids can play in the water there. Now, for the place itself it doesn’t offer nice outdoor space to play games or hang out really. Not such a bad thing but would be nice if the area where grass is supposed to be was kept up. It’s a bit rundown and could have been cleaner. However, again overall not to bad that we couldn’t enjoy ourselves anyway. They do provide a lot of towels and chairs, plus toiletries and kitchen cleaning supplies which is great!

Good location, but poor management.

House was clean at arrival. The communication was very poor with the property manager. Property manager just ignored my messages and didn't respond after initial couple of questions. One bathroom door would not lock. We had to improvise by making signboard for 'in-use'. If the group size is more than 10, two bathrooms are less. There was no bathroom on the upper level. Every morning we ran out of warm water. Top floor was atleast 10 degrees colder than main floor due to poor insulation.

The homes on either side were so quiet sleeps were had. The little town of Rockaway was more in line with our need was small and not too touristy. A side trip to Cannon Beach convinced us we had chosen the best location: long uncrowded beaches and very little traffic in town. The grandchildren ran from their beds into the ocean, passed by us to get food at regular intervals and then back to the sea. Hint: Grandparents cannot compete with an ocean. We were regulated to watching their joy. With two decks we had plenty of variety for views and social events. The only thing I would suggest is that the upper deck be provided with shade: umbrellas or sails, etc. We had a glorious time. The Troupe from Montana

Twin Rock Twouble!

Although my girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at our short reunion (May 5-8), we did have a few problems. The house, location, and comfort of the home we rented was wonderful. But we had a big problem that would have prevented us from staying at the house that was ignored by your answering service. A smoke detector was chirping upon our arrival, and as you probably know, the noise is obnoxious and we weren’t able to stay while the chirping continued. I made three phone calls to your answering service (I was cut off twice), who said that they would “send a ticket” to someone who would fix it. No concern on their part, and no response. The next morning we found that your office hadn’t even been contacted. So, we had to remedy the problem on our own, and one of us 60+ ladies climbed up and removed the smoke detector. We had no idea if it was just the battery or if it was hardwired. We actually had to put it in one of our cars in order to muffle the chirp. Very annoying!. Another problem we had was with connecting to WiFi. The password that is prominently placed in the house is incorrect. Thankfully we had some savvy tech ladies in our group, and after an hour long phone call to the server company (I think), we found out that the password was completely different and were finally able to log on to WiFi. Another unpleasant experience. Beyond that, the absence of any kitchen wrap, bags, or foil, limited TP and soap, and dirty floors were also a bit annoying. As I already said, we have been getting together for several years now and none of the houses we have rented had these types of problems. We contacted Tina on Monday morning and she was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. TP and soap arrived! Thought you’d like to know these things. It might be wise to have someone on call 24/7 to take care of problems. The answering service was worthless. Love

Disappointed about not being able to check in until 5. The big complaint was the rotten fish odor when the refrigerator was opened every time . Everyone was put off by it!

Beach time

House listing was correct with the property. Plenty of room for our large group. Views were amazing. For future renting, if it’s a beach property, you should provide beach towels and beach chairs. We ended up purchasing them and gifting them back to the house. Those small items make a stay more enjoyable.
