Perfectly positioned in the picturesque village of Saughall, Foxlea Cottage offers the best of both worlds: peaceful village charm combined with quick and easy access to Chester city centre, just five minutes away by car.
Tucked away in a quiet spot, the cottage sits only a short stroll from the local pub and tea room, with a village shop, pharmacy, Chinese takeaway, hairdresser, and a well-kept park with a modern children’s play area all within easy walking distance. Everything you need for a relaxed stay is close at hand, without the bustle of city life.
From the doorstep, guests can enjoy scenic countryside walks through the Shotwick Park Estate, Bluebell Woods, and along footpaths leading up to an ancient castle site with wide-reaching views towards the Welsh hills. It’s an ideal location for walkers, cyclists, and anyone who enjoys being outdoors.
Inside, the cottage is light-filled and welcoming. The open-plan ground floor brings together a stylish kitchen, dining space, and lounge, making it easy to cook, relax, and spend time together. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, with full-size appliances and a breakfast bar beneath a skylight. The lounge features a fireplace, comfortable seating, a large TV with Sky package, and super-fast fibre broadband — equally suited to quiet evenings in or catching up on work if needed. A double sofa bed provides flexible additional sleeping accommodation.
Upstairs, above the garage, the master bedroom offers a comfortable double bed and a calm, private sleeping space. The en-suite bathroom includes a powerful shower. There is also an under-eaves area with a single floor mattress, which children often find an exciting and cosy place to sleep. For longer stays, this space is also very useful for storing suitcases and larger items. Please note that the bathroom is accessed via the bedroom.
Foxlea Cottage sleeps up to five guests, but it is best suited to couples, families, or small groups who are comfortable sharing space. Full occupancy works particularly well for short breaks or family stays, while smaller groups may find the layout more comfortable for longer visits.
Outside, guests can enjoy a small patio area, with a washing line available and a small table and chairs provided when weather allows. A bench by the front door overlooks the small garden and is a favourite spot for a quiet sit with a coffee or a book.
Conveniently located on Chester’s most accessible side and along a major bus route, the cottage is ideally placed for visiting many of the area’s main attractions. Chester Racecourse, Chester Zoo, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, and Blue Planet Aquarium are all within around 15 minutes’ drive. Families may also enjoy nearby favourites such as The Ice Cream Farm, Crocky Trail, and Delamere Forest’s Go Ape.
Golfers and cyclists are well catered for, with a nearby driving range, 9-hole course, and access to national cycle routes. Whether you’re planning a relaxed break, a family getaway, or a base for exploring Cheshire and North Wales, Foxlea Cottage offers a comfortable, well-located place to return to at the end of the day.
Getting around:
The cottage is exceptionally well connected by public transport.
