Hempstead is a quiet village and civil parish in North Norfolk, about 2.7 miles southeast of the Georgian market town of Holt and roughly 20 miles north of Norwich. It’s set in gentle countryside typical of East England — rolling fields, farm lanes, and open sky. With a population of around 170–180 people, it’s tiny — a close-knit community rather than a bustling settlement. Most houses are traditional, built from flint and Norfolk red brick with pantile roofs, giving the village an authentic rural character. Historic parish church: The Grade II-listed All Saints’ Church sits on The Street, with parts dating back to the 14th century and a characteristic thatched roof added in the 1930s. Village hall: A local hub for events and gatherings. Farms & fields: Hempstead is surrounded by farmland and features several working farms within the parish. The village once had a pub, a forge, a school and a post office, but these have closed over the years, leaving the church and village hall as central meeting points today.

The Barn Loft is a newly built and furnished self catering apartment situated in the Marpits grounds within the Idyllic picturesque village of Hempstead, Norfolk Within the Barn Loft you will be met by a beautiful welcome hamper along side all amenities essential to your getaway stay in North Norfolk, featuring on King sized bed in the bedroom & one double sized sofa bed in the living space ideal for small groups, families and couples looking to stay. A fully equipped kitchen is at guests disposal featuring all required items, tea, coffee and sugar are supplied for guests to enjoy . The Barn Loft provides amazing views throughout of the local countryside and upper / lower gardens on the property, this is also shared with the homeowners but accessible to guests during their stay to enjoy. Free parking for one car is available on site, this is in front of the triple garage designated by a sign on the barn doors Lesley & Dave live onsite with their pet dog, they actively use the property and its gardens but are happy for respectful guests to share the views and serenity that it all has to offer. Outside close to car parking guests will find a four seater outdoor dinning set that they can use, they will also find additional seating at the top of the upper garden beyond the sunken fire pit.
