Big Mead is a large open parkland situated south of Shanklin old village. This park is ideal for dog walkers and also within the park you will find a recreation area for children and a lovely duck pond at the bottom of the Mead by St Blasius church. The 2-mile coastal walk between Shanklin and Sandown is a popular attraction; choose from the undulating coastal path or the sea wall promenade. Along the way is the village of Lake, with its quiet sandy beach and water sport centre. Sandown is popular for visiting the Dinosaur Isle with life size models, Dino Land, Sandown Pier and Isle of Wight Zoo famous for its tiger sanctuary. There is also an 18 hole golf course and pitch and putt. Shanklin train station links you to Sandown and the other beach resort of Ryde. Kenmare Cottage is also convenient situated for local public transport. Beach ½ mile.
