A comfortable, warm, sunny and peaceful cottage in rural Perthshire within easy reach of a championship golf course, skiing, hillwalking, mountain biking, fishing on the River Tay, game and clay pigeon shooting, bird watching and much more. Equipped with all white goods and high quality bed linen, this spacious cottage has a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, large open plan kitchen/living area and secluded outside patio.

Located only 8 miles from the historic cathedral town of Dunkeld, and 2 miles from the well served town of Blairgowrie, we are surrounded by red squirrels, fallow and roe deer and beavers. The Loch of the Lowes nature reserve is 8 miles to our west where resident Ospreys can be seen in the spring and summer.

Our renowned local pub, the Meikleour Arms with it's relaxed beer garden and French/Scottish cuisine, local beers, locally distilled gin and collection of whiskies, is 2 miles from Essendy Cottage, or a 7 minute bike ride! Dunkeld has plenty of places to eat out including the Taybank Hotel, the Boathouse (both with lively beer gardens on the river), a renowned bakery and the excellent delicatessen.

We are only 1 mile from the Blairgowrie Highland Games (Sunday 6th September 2026), the 54 mile Cateran Yomp (6th and 7th June 2026), and the Alyth Agricultural Show (Saturday 13th June 2026). We are also surrounded by many other Highland Games during the summer months including the famous Braemar Gathering (5th September 2026), Perth, Birnam, Strathardle, The Atholl Gathering, Crieff, Stirling, St Andrews and Kenmore - all within easy reach of Essendy.

There are a number of Perthshire whisky distilleries which are worth visiting including Glenturret (Crieff), Dewar's (Aberfeldy), Blair Athol (Pitlochry) and Tullibardine (Blackford). All can be reached in under an hour by car.

Please Note: We are beekeepers and our 3 hives are located about 50 meters from the cottage. Our bees are friendly but they will be out and about in the spring and summer months. You are unlikely to come into contact with our little friends, but please bear this in mind if you have a reaction to bee stings.

Guests have the use of ample private parking in front of the property, accessed from the private driveway. The owners of the cottage live just next door should they be needed.

The accommodation in our one storey cottage provides a hallway for coats, boots and shoes. There is a convenient loo and utility room with a large freezer, drying rack for clothes and any bulky items to be stored.

The cottage has a generous, bright open-plan kitchen and warm living space. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of storage, an electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a breakfast island with stools. The living area features a cosy open fire, a large bookshelf filled with novels and a TV. The living space also provides an external door to the outside seating area.

The first bedroom is found on the left-hand side of the kitchen, a comfy twin room with an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has a double bed, built in wardrobe space and an en-suite bathroom.

The garden area can be accessed via the door in the living room, where there is outdoor seating available in a secluded patio overlooking the lawn perfect for red squirrel spotting in the evening sun.

he hosts live on site within a short walk of Essendy Cottage and are on hand to provide any advice or assistance as may be required. The hosts can also be easily contacted by mobile phone.

What's included: Travel cot (excluding linen), highchair, all bed linen and towels, WiFi, electricity, heating is by oil boiler.
