This person stayed for 2 nights and then left the house and then did a charge back for the entire stay. I was never paid for the nights he stayed or for the departure cleaning. His relative conveniently happens to be a Personal Injury Lawyer and has been harassing my family for months. They have threatened to sue me for having stairs in my house. This person was belligerent from the moment he stepped foot on the property. He offered nothing but insults and complained about everything imaginable. I can’t help but think this is his lifestyle to book and not pay. At the same time he was incapable of using basic appliances and modern technology. I am always available to help guests with any questions. He did not ask me any questions or allow me the opportunity to assist him and make his stay pleasurable. He left and did a charge back during high season, and now has the audacity to leave a scathing review when he never even paid for the nights he stayed. He is the bait and switch charlatan. Bear in mind that this is my childhood home and I manage the rentals. I offer concierge services and I know a lot of people in town. I am very hospitable and have become friends with many past guests. This is not a giant hotel group or motel, we are civilized people offering a 5 star bespoke service. This was our first bad experience with a dishonest guest. 1) The house is fully described and has 5 photos of the stairs explaining the contemporary layout of the house. It is a 3 story house with 2 mezzanine levels. I was very clear that this house is not ideal for kids. He chose to rent the house anyway. I raised toddlers in the house and other guests have had toddlers in the house and all had a wonderful time. Why would you book a house with stairs if your wife has a bad knee? And why would you expect an elevator in a 2200 sq ft home? We do not advertise an elevator. The stairs are to code. Floating stairs are not uncommon. It is a stylish contemporary home. 2) The mattresses are all Simmons Beauty Rest and are 1.5 years old. Other guests love them. We replace items often and keep the house immaculate. The master bedroom is chic and inviting. Minor Issues 1) The dryer door needed to be lifted up slightly and then gently closed, not slammed and smashed as he did. He never asked for help but broke the door. We now have a brand new washer dryer so this point is mute anyway. 2) The stovetop is 1.5 years old. It must have the weight of a pan on it to turn it on as a safety measure. There is a manual in the drawer below. And I am sure Kitchen Aid and Lowe’s tested their product before selling it to customers. When I checked the house after his departure, the breaker for the stovetop had tripped, a very easy fix. Had I been asked, I would have been happy to help. 3) We have 4 flat screen smart TVs with Control 4 and we keep our Netflix and Direct TV apps available to guests. I am not sure what the complaint is here. 4) Our location is 1.2 miles from the gondola. There is a door to door shuttle service run by RAFTA for $1. It is quiet and has no traffic. It’s a great location.
