It was a nice location right by the slopes. It’s not ski season, but it would be the perfect place to stay during ski season.

Second Christmas at Mountain Cottage

Had another lovely visit- think it was our 4th time staying here. There was snow when we got there so we had a white Christmas after all. Husband and pups and I loved our stay.

Excellent property!!

This is a great home in a terrific/gorgeous setting in the mountains of WNC. House is great with plenty of space for us. Well appointed with grill, and all the kitchen gadgets you will need. Made lots (and lots) of Christmas cookies without any problems. Shannon is great and very easy to communicate with quick response time. Would absolutely recommend if looking for a place to stay while exploring beautiful Western North Carolina!!!

Amazing mountain escape

Amenities and comfort galore greeted us upon our arrival. We immediately felt like we were in a tree house amongst all of the beautiful trees and views. Shannon was a great communicator and accessible when we had a question - I should also mention she is patient as our question was a bit silly. The location worked great for us as we ventured in all directions each day to explore lots of new towns. Having good tires with deep tread, and knowing how to use automatic shifting on your car are huge benefits with all of the different elevations around the state, as well as getting up to this incredible home. We look forward to staying again. Thank you Shannon!

Lovely and well appointed

We loved our stay! Shannon was so thoughtful and easy to communicate with. Her home is beautiful and has everything guests could possibly need. The bedrooms are both large and comfy. The fenced in yard and big wrap around deck were great too! We would really love to stay again sometime. Big thumbs up!

Perfect cabin in the woods

Absolutely loved this cabin, wish we could've stayed longer. Stocked with every imaginable kitchen items..linens..blankets you name it. Every room was clean and comfy, fenced yard for the dogs was a big plus. Lovely wrap deck to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Shannon, the host, is amazing. Responsive..accommodating...she thought of everything to make the stay something special. We highly recommend Shannon's Wolf Laurel cabin.

Great Vacation

The property was excellent. We have stayed at many mountain cabins and this one has exceeded all the others! Shannon ,the owner has created Heaven in the Mountains! It has all the comforts of home and a beautiful view. Our mini poodles loved the fenced yard with all the leaves. The cabin is well equipped! Thank you. I will recommend the rental any chance I get!

Weekend Getaway

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was beautiful and we loved the seclusion in the Wolf Laurel resort. The gated community was a plus and we did a great hike to Big Bald that was accessible on the property. The proximity to route 26 was ideal for heading to Asheville and other neighboring towns. The home had everything we needed and would definitely recommend and stay again.

Lovely Quiet Weekend

The property is super clean and very comfortable with a nice porch to sit out in the evening and relax with a glass of wine. It's a great location for hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail - there is an access to it only accessible from the Wolf Laurel community. One of the best spots for 360 views of the mountains is the ski resort (which was desolate in October). Once you get to the parking lot at the top of the mountain, you can hike to the top chairlift following the chairs - it's about a 0.33 mile steep hike to the top. It was just my dog and I, but I felt very safe. I highly recommend Shannon's place!

Excellent Rental

The host makes this rental feel like you’re at a family members home. It is immaculate and tucked away. I loved how private this property is. The fenced in backyard was perfect for our pup. We would definitely stay at this rental again!

Knocked it out of the park!

Nestled into what is easily one of the most peaceful and beautiful locations, this ambiance is surpassed only by the thoughtfulness and graciousness of our host, Shannon. The property is welcoming, cozy, comfortable and abundantly stocked to meet any imaginable need for two or four legged visitors. Shannon is uber-responsive to any questions or need and we cannot wait to return!

Private and felt like home.

The location was great and close to the sites that we wanted to see. The fenced in yard was a real plus for our small dog. The house was very clean and stocked with plenty of towels and kitchen ware. The owner Shannon was great and made sure we had a great time. We would highly recommend staying here.

Very Accommodating

What a great stay. We rented for our daughter and family. They brought their dogs. Absolutely everything we could want was provided down to dog bowls. Nice fenced yard. Nice and clean. Beautiful view. Very nice host. We will definitely stay again. Thank you so much.

Lovely Rental

What a lovely rental! Our GPS took us a long, crazy way up the mountain in the snow and ice, but once we got there it was worth it. The snow covered mountains are beautiful. We found it was better to put in the ski resort’s address first, then the rental’s address to get you up and down the mountain easier. If going in the winter I would definitely recommend a 4WD vehicle to navigate the snowy/icy weather. We were only able to spend two nights here, but would love to make a trip back to spend more time in the area. The fenced in yard was a huge plus for the pups! It was in the back yard with privacy and all flat. Very dog friendly, even had a pooper scooper for us to use. The dogs were thrilled to get to bark at the passing deer. We loved sitting on the back deck in the sun looking at the mountains. The inside was comfortable with ample seating and two large bedrooms. It was about 38-40 minutes to the NC Arboretum which is dog friendly and lots of nice trails, which is how we spent most of our time. Shannon was wonderful to rent from. She was quick to respond, and gave us a heads up about the weather before our arrival so we could be prepared. Thank you, Shannon! We can’t wait to make a trip back!

Even Better than Expected

We had a fantastic stay! It was meticulously clean and wonderfully decorated. Everything we needed (and backups) were included. We cooked our meals in the kitchen that had every type of pot, pan, and gadget we could need. We were warm and cozy during a snowstorm and it is located less than 5 min from the ski hill. The area is beautiful and quiet.

Thanksgiving retreat

House is perfect for us and dogs. We saw deer running down the mountain every day. Quiet and comfortable. Owner is thoughtful and responsive.
