Great Beach getaway

We had a wonderful time at this great beach condo. My family loves the pool and the pool area is fantastic. The pool bar was open Thurs. - Sun and you could even order hot food there. The easily accessible beach had few visitors so it was like having it to ourselves much of the time. My son had fun in the game room and the small soccer field. The ocean breeze was constant so the temperatures were pleasant at all times. We have stayed at several ocean front rentals but we will definitely return this one.

Nice condo with amazing balcony and view

When we first drove in, it looked a little dated/sketchy but as soon as we approached the front desk, I realized this was just less foreign tourist and more for local tourist - at front desk they spoke English. The view from the condo was amazing, kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms spacious. I loved that I could pick out my snorkel spots from the balcony- go for the deep blue looking pools close to the reef. Also , the beach/water is fine - pleanty of sandy spots for the kids and reefs for the snorkels like me. Easy parking and great security - and the WiFi worked great our entire stay! Super close/easy drive to Santo Domingo, three eye national park caves and bayahibe for saona tours. Only complaint was from my husband who likes doing laps in the large pool but before 9am it was closed - not sure why. Host was very responsive and helpful when we were too dumb to figure out the stove! Great stay - thank u for sharing your lovely place with us!

Facility and condo unit were top notch.

The condo unit was as advertised in the pictures but the facility name is Las Olas which is not the name shown on the picture that VRBO has of the pool as of this feedback. I pointed this out to the condo owner and asked him to get that corrected. The facility was very well maintained and the condo unit was clean and spacious. Located on the 14th floor, it has wonderful ocean views as well as the view of the large pool. You can watch the sunset from the balcony. The pool which is shown in VRBO's picture sat next to the ocean and was huge. This facility is not located in a touristy area so we found that there were not too many people there and we had our pick of the lounge chairs. There are many open air restaurants within walking distance and they serve very good food. The owner of the condo unit was very courteous and prompt responding to all of my messages and questions and provided helpful information prior to my stay. A heads up that it was difficult to communicate with the staff at the facility because they spoke so little English and we spoke so little Spanish. But they were courteous and tried their best to help us. Our stay was early February and if you are looking for a laid back, quiet getaway without a bunch of people this is a good place to stay. It is located in a residential community that will allow you to experience the true Dominican culture.

Fantastic view, well appointed, lovely "real" beach

We spent 11 days and 10 nights at this lovely apartment during the last week of March/first week of April. The 2-bed, 2-bath apartment is large and in a large co-op/condo type building (with designated parking place), only footsteps from the beach. Building reception is very helpful (and speaks English). There are two speedy lifts to the 14th floor. The wi-fi works well in the apartment, and the kitchen is sufficiently well provisioned with pots, pans, cooking utensils, and tableware that you can cook at home and dine on the terrace (enclosed on the sides and quite peaceful). It has an unobstructed view to the ocean and you can enjoy it round the clock without being in the sun's heat (we spent most of our time there). A convenient gas station is just down the street from the apartment building, but you feel very much on the beach in the apartment. A pharmacy is located only a few minutes down the road, and within a ten minute drive there are several excellent restaurants (El Sueno and Paladart were our favorites), and Boca Chica is not too far for more of an urban experience. The hosts responded quickly to the few questions we had, and we had no problems with washer/dryer, plumbing, etc. The hot water, air conditioning, ceiling fans were all in perfect working order and sufficient to the purpose. The pool area is very nice with a snack bar open for burgers and cocktails on the weekends. This pool area is the only thing between you and the beach just beyond it. The beach immediately before the apartment is not postcard, white sand, turquoise water, etc., but this may be an advantage, as you have a diversity of marine life and different kinds of micro ecosystems to explore--perfect for observant small children. We saw lion fish, lots of sea urchins, a variety of small fish and crabs, and several rays while snorkeling within a few minutes' walk either direction. We prefer this sort of do-it-yourself stay with local restaurants, find your own groceries, and drive where you want vibe to a much more expensive, generic all-inclusive resort--and this was the perfect place for a beautiful, relaxing vacation of our sort. We drove an hour or so to Bayahibe (east) to join day-long tours offered by ScubaCaribe and Seavis, to Catalina Island and Soana Island. And best of all the hosts offered us a free night in their lovely Santo Domingo apartment (an hour or so west) in the Colonial City. We would happily return--and stay longer! Thanks for a lovely time!
