Beautiful home in a fabulous location

We rented this home for 2 months in 2024. Our family and friends joined us over the time of our stay. You cannot beat this location, and the property is beautifully done. We loved the home. Rob and Elisabeth are terrific hosts. We'd recommend this property.

We planned to use Avignon as our base to explore Provence. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The home was fantastic and Robin was a pleasure to work with. The location was incredibly convenient and allowed us to see everything on our list!

Great place to stay in Avignon. 3 restaurants less than 20 meters from the entrance! Nice kitchen and living area, with air conditioned bedrooms. And Avignon is a place we will come back and visit, and hopefully stay here. Hosts were so responsive and informative.

A real gem; comfortable; easy access to city and region

This place easily accommodated our family of six adults during a week’s stay. Located within the walls of the city with direct access to major sights inside - and main thoroughfares outside - the city walls. Parking, indoor pool, and fully stocked home enabled us to thrive at our own tempos. Owner welcomed us on arrival and helped us get settled instantly.

Our visit to Avignon!

Upon our arrival, our host was there to greet us, help us find parking for our rental car, and answer questions we had! Our VRBO was a charming villa in a great location, only a few minutes walk to great shopping, restaurants and all the historical sights in Avignon. The villa was clean and comfortable! We loved the courtyard setting with beautiful lighting to enjoy our wine and charcuterie samplings! A great stay in Avignon!

Gorgeous retreat

A perfect oasis within the Papal city walls of Avignon. The little city square we were on was picturesque as well. The accommodations are lovely and spacious. Bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed. Kitchen was perfect sized for our family of 5 to relax and enjoy cooking together. Tips from the owners were appreciated and our favorite restaurant was steps away from our front door. E.A.T....a very special place. Loved our stay and the beautiful home we rented. Thanks so much!

Absolutely loved the house! So charming, clean and quiet. The location was great. We were 5 women friends staying from California. We especially enjoyed the lovely courtyard area and ate many of our meals there. All 4 bedrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. Really nice having a washer and dryer, dishwasher and well appointed kitchen. Cafes and restaurants steps away. There was only 1 toilet upstairs, but another downstairs. But there were 3 showers and a bathtub so we could all get ready fairly easily. An all together wonderful place to stay. We hope to return again.

Stunning home

Oh my, what a beautiful home this is. We were warmly greeted by Didier with lots of goodies to help make our first day easy. The pictures do not do this home justice, it is so, well, luxurious is the word that comes to mind.. The kitchen is large and well stocked, the bedrooms beautifully appointed with comfortable beds, the master bedroom roomy and airy, living room could accommodate quite a group. We were only 4 people but it could quite easily be very comfortable for 8. The courtyard and pool area were so great to relax in after a long day exploring this interesting city or other surrounding areas. Don't miss Arles if you are a Van Gogh lover or a Roman history buff. Thank you Robin for a wonderful stay!!

A beautiful, well located property.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house over the Christmas period. It has so much character and is beautifully presented. The property is well equipped and has every thing you need including a heated pool which our grandchildren had great fun in. I would imagine it would be lovely in the summer when you could open up the French doors onto the small patio. The house is well located in the centre of the town so a car isn't essential. If you want to go further afield it is easy enough to get to other towns either by bus or train. There are plenty of restaurants near by; we particularly liked Le Gout du Jour which is about a 5 minute walk away. There was a welcome pack on arrival which we thought was a nice touch and we found Didier very helpful. Information provided by Robin was also helpful and he always replied promptly to emails. Thank you for a great stay in your beautiful house in a lovely city.

Lovely home, well maintained, great location, with parking

This lovely home is just inside the medieval wall. There are 4 very good restaurants right around the corner and the Pope's palace is a short 5 minute walk. There are many small shops within 5-15 minute walk offering groceries, fresh baked bread, fresh gelato, coffee shops. There are many fine clothing and shoe stores along the way. The house comes with a garage parking space. Parking is at a premium inside the walled city, so this is extremely valuable and convenient. We found the house, as advertised, with 4 full bedrooms. There is one large, elegant, full bathroom on the second floor. 1 of the bedrooms has a shower and sink attached as an ensuite bathroom (but with no toilet). There is a half-bath on the first floor with a toilet and sink. The kitchen is large with open seating area. The house is equipped with full size gas range, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and espresso machine. A full size washer dryer allowed us to travel light and do laundry during our stay. The house is clean and very well maintained. The outdoor patio is really nice. the pool is quite small...enjoyable for sitting in the warm water, sipping wine, and socializing. The owner was super helpful and responsive. We were traveling during a train strike. The owner anticipated a problem, contacted us ahead of time, and was very accommodating to adjust our arrival and departure dates so that we would be traveling on days when the train was not on strike. Being proactive in this way saved our vacation from being a stressful disaster. We are most appreciative of this owner!

Authentic Avignon Experience

As this property is extensively reviewed, my comments aim to offer information not provided elsewhere. I rented the house for the month of March, with adult friends/family cycling in and out. I speak no French, but did not find that to be a barrier to a month’s stay in Provence. This is a medieval house that has been well renovated, with comfortable beds (mentioned by many of my guests), excellent water pressure and good heat. The photos accurately present the rooms and amenities. The house is well equipped, including pool towels, enough kitchen utensils to prepare a meal for 7 (or more) and elaborate appetizer trays to pair with an in-house wine tasting. The location is outstanding; you can walk anywhere inside the walls in less than 30 minutes. Right outside the gate (a 3 minute walk across Place Crillon) is a bus stop/taxi stand. We also rented bikes and rode around Barthelasse Island. As others have noted, Élisabeth and Robin are scrupulously responsive. They live nearby and promptly addressed all problems that arose. Élisabeth can arrange a cleaner if you need a refresh during your stay. And is very helpful generally. A couple of negatives: The entry shares a small gated area with a restaurant’s back door, and the area is a bit dirty and alley-like. There was some noise from Place Crillon on weekend nights that might be more bothersome in the busier summer season. As some have mentioned, at times there is a sewer smell coming from the drains, which those sensitive to odors might find unpleasant. But it is an old house, so some issues are to be expected. At bottom, it you want to spend your time in Avignon staying in an authentic medieval home that is very comfortable, well equipped, conveniently located, with delightful and responsive hosts, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great location for a visit to Avignon, whether for a short visit or a longer stay. The house has a classical feeling, but feels extremely comfortable. Elisabeth is a wonderful host, who made us feel very much at home.

Perfect location to explore Provence

This is a very charming medieval house in the heart of the old city of Avignon. We were a 5-10 minute walk from the major sites of the city, many restaurants, and tons of shopping. The home itself is very charming, with old stone walls, but has tons of modern touches including an indoor pool! It was the perfect location and perfect jumping off point to see the rest of the area. The available parking spot was also super convenient. Driving and parking in the old city is very difficult, but it was very helpful to have had rented a car to be able to explore the area outside Avignon. Robin and Elisabeth were both super responsive and friendly. Finding and getting into the home was very easy. We had an issue with the hot water heater that was addressed promptly and professionally. Would 100% recommend staying here to get a great feel of Avignon!

une maison chaleureuse et accueillante

Une très belle maison parfaitement située en plein cœur de cette belle ville ; de grands espaces où se reposer, de beaux livres, une cuisine très bien équipée. Nous y étions à Noel et en dépit d'une météo peu clémente et des musées fermées en raison du covid, nous avons apprécié notre séjour. La piscine était un peu fraîche, mais tout a fait praticable. Merci à Eisabeth et Robin pour la parfaite communication et la générosité de leur accueil !

Very neat and friendly apartment in the heart of town!

We were fortunate enough to have such a friendly and forthcoming host during our shortened stay in times of COVID. We needed to leave after only one night instead of 4. Nevertheless, Robin altered the booking without issues, showed us the very lovely apartment and recommended the best places to be in Avignon. We would have loved to stay longer and can hopefully catch up on the missed days another time with him!

Très bien situé, et très bonne prestation, mais un peu dommage que l'accès en voiture soit impossible, ne serait ce que pour décharger les véhicules.

Bonjour Laurent, Je suis désolée que le parking ait pu vous perturber. La maison est située en plein centre ville historique, dans une zone piétonne. Il est donc impossible de se garer juste devant. Néanmoins, il est possible de décharger les bagages en se garant pour quelques minutes dans une des rues à côté. Nous proposons un parking privé sécurisé à 1 minute à pied de la maison, ce qui est extrêmement rare dans Avignon... Malheureusement, il nous est difficile de faire mieux car Avignon est une ville médiévale où les voitures circulent mal. J'espère néanmoins que nous aurons le plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau chez nous.
