Ubicada en Fortune Prince Edward Island con vista a Bay Fortune, esta acogedora cabaña frente al mar es un lugar maravilloso para pasar sus vacaciones de verano en el este de PEI. Small but sufficient. Perfect spot for our family getaway . Traveled with our daughters 7&9 and our bulldog. Loved the easy access to the water and our daily low tide strolls right infront of the cottage. Small town of Souris is just a short drive away with all the amenities you need.

Loved everything about our stay. Location is incredible! This part of PEI is rural and quaintand quiet. Next time we will stay longer. Cottage is immaculate and well stocked. Yard is LARGE and ends at the water. The town of Souris is lovely. The Tipsy Farmer is great for lunch or dinner, casual and friendly with great food. Great hosts!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Idle by the Bay—Cathy and Dave are wonderful hosts and the cottage had everything we needed to enjoy a quiet week recharging. Close enough to amenities, but truly a peaceful setting. Cathy’s list of local attractions was perfect and guided our day to day activities. Our dog Dolly enjoyed the beach walks several times a day, and the large lawn to play frisbee! Having a washer was truly a perk!Would definitely consider returning!

Lovely propery with a lot of privacy, very dog friendly. Love the layout of the cottage, perfect zones set up for evryone to hang out or to easily find ones own spot for peace and quiet on their own. Highly recommended!

Great place to get away from it all

We loved our time here - we really felt like we were away from everything! The kids loved exploring the beach, which was full of shells. I loved looking out at the water. The house was plenty big for our family of 4 as the second bedroom contained 2 beds. I really appreciated the list of area attractions Cathy sent us before we arrived. It really helped us plan out what we would do during our time on the island!

Piece of Paradise!

This rental was everything we hoped for and more. Quiet, private with superb views. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The cottage also has an attached screened in porch with a table and chairs as well as patio furniture for when the bugs are out. The hosts are wonderful, responsive and went out of their way to help us with anything and everything we needed to make our stay unforgettable.

This property exceeded my wife and my expectations! We simply could not have been more relaxed if we had been at home. Red door was like home. I loved going out when the tide was out, great experience. Short ride to town. Neighbour very helpful and friendly. We would return every year if we lived closer, just fantastic !! Dave

East coast slice of heaven

The cottage was so cute and cosy. Had everything we needed for our stay. Can’t say enough about low tide and those wonderful sand bars. Our dog love running around out there. Fans were much appreciated in this crazy hot weather and we loved the screened in porch. Basin Sands beach is a must visit and Souris has all your shopping/restaurant needs. Thanks so much for a wonderful time.

Scenic quiet hideaway cottage

Spent a week with my sister at this tranquil cottage. Quiet and very relaxing. Very well maintained by Cathy and Dave. They have thought of everything. I shall remember sitting and having my coffee looking out onto that amazing scenery.

Beautiful Setting

My daughter and I had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage in beautiful setting. Cathy made sure we had all we need, communicated, and went the extra mile to bring over a cooker and pot for a lobster boil. Awesome family memories 😁

Special Place

The house is perfect for a summer vacation. The kitchen is well appointed, the dish clothes are crisp, and she even left us coffee for our first morning. The screened-in porch is wonderful as is the deck. Beds were comfortable, linens lovely, and the shower had good water pressure. And the location -- so quiet, with the beach right there. My 5 stars are all legitimate!

Idle by the bay is perfect for idling

My dog and I spent the week doing day trips, but she really preferred staying here and playing and beaching and there was no real need to leave. The ocean, the view, the sunrise, the great blue herons, the osprey, the Eagles, the singing birds.....I will be back next year!

Cosy and quiet spit

As described. If a cottage is what you’re looking for then you will find it here. Cathy and Dave are wonderful owners. Very helpful. Hurricane Lee came through during our stay. Cathy made sure we had extra water and preparations in case we lost power. Luckily it didn’t happen but we’re grateful for their assistance. We hope to visit again soon.

Excellent location

Excellent location, cabin is older, with an old cabin smell. Does not have AC, but maybe we missed that in the listing. Owners are very nice and helpful. Cabin has everything you need, except a Keurig :) , and was clean

Family vacay

The cottage was awesome, clean, well equipped with anything and everything you would need. I rented this place because of the quietness and large property for my 3 year old grandson to run around without a care. However, due to the mosquitoes being so bad even during the day this was not even an option for him….other than that the stay was very relaxing and enjoyable and your screened in sunporch was a well appreciated. This is a beautiful location and an incredible cottage, thank you Cathy for everything

perfect for us

This is a beautiful spot to stay with a gorgeous view. Just a few minutes to Souris if you needed to grab anything in town (lobster rolls at The Lobster Shack in Souris were so good). It was nice to have the screened in porch as an alternative spot to hang out. We had everything we needed. It was a short walk to the beach and there were lots of birds to watch. I have to say, it was the quietest spot we have ever stayed, which was perfect. The neighbouring cottages are at well spaced distances. I would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful idle by the bay

It is EXACTLY as portrayed in the listing. Beautiful, quiet bay off the front porch. We had breakfast out there and watched the fog lift (and then come back. Lol. And then lift again) every day. When the tide is out, you can walk along Fortune Bay and collect shells and sea glass. We saw blue herons every day and as we were leaving, some seals or maybe porpoise came to say bye. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need. Very comfortable beds and soft bedding and towels etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, even measuring cups if you feel like baking something. But why would you when there are excellent bakeries on PEI. We had a lot of rain, so we would sit in the screened in side porch and we could still enjoy the view of the bay. A great place to explore the east end of the island. Little harbour Beach and Basin Beach have soft white sand with red cliffs. Looks exactly like the travel brochures. A bit of a drive to Cavendish Beach and North Rustico, but it gives you a chance to enjoy the rolling hills and to see the interior farms of the island. The town of Souris is small but has everything you need: grocery store, bank, interesting shops, pretty harbour and lighthouse. It is a wonderful spot away from the noise and crowds of the larger, more touristy areas. Cathy provided suggestions on local sites and restaurants etc. We are already talking about when we are going back. Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot with us.

We miss the place

Everything was simply just perfect! So many things to do around and people from the area so warm and welcoming! The kitchen was complete and view astonishing! Lots of bugs at night but it didn't really matter since so many birds were happily singing their joy of living in such a rich healthy environment!

I grew up in this area and summered at Idle when my three girls were growing up. My husband and I now live in another seasonal cottage on the Fortune River and rent out Idle by the Bay. We are retired professional folks and avid kayakers. We are very responsive to your needs and want you to have a great experience. We want to assure our guests that they will have the space and privacy to social distance from others and that we have strict COVID cleaning protocols in place.
