Peddler's Fork Inn en Red River Gorge

Peddler's Fork Inn es una cabaña de 3200 pies cuadrados ubicada en 65 acres de bosques privados cerca de Red River Gorge. Escondida a lo largo de los sinuosos caminos del Bosque Nacional Daniel Boone, la cabaña ofrece un retiro aislado completo con un porche para dormir, perfecto para descansar, una chimenea de piedra a leña, una mesa de comedor con capacidad para 12 y tres pozos. Originalmente construido hace 40 años por un as volador decorado, el general de la Fuerza Aérea James W. Poco, la cabaña de troncos se sometió a una extensa restauración, conservando su encanto original. El Peddler's Fork Inn original era un restaurante diseñado y construido a mano por el General, donde su esposa era la propietaria. En conjunción con la propiedad, poseía varias granjas donde tenía múltiples operaciones agrícolas que suministraban al restaurante carne y productos de cosecha propia.

En el espíritu de esta operación familiar que alguna vez fue próspera, su hija Mary Gay Kanai, ofrece la posada para alquileres vacacionales, eventos especiales y cenas privadas.

This property looks nothing like the photos, also to note it is pretty much right on top of the road. Upon arrival, beds were slept in and not changed, towels all over both bathroom floors, dirty toilets, cobwebs and spiders throughout the house, floors dusty, sawdust on both couches, and the fridge was full of food and fruit flies. We stayed only long enough to see everything and take photos as evidence for a full refund. The host has not yet responded to me, our case for a full refund is pending.

Stayed Sun- Fri (was supposed to leave Sat, but the litany of issues had taken their toll)Paying 300 total per night should give the renter some sense of comfort they chose a suitable place to stay, but the negatives certainly outweighed the positives. Would not rent again.

Weekend with the girls

We had lovely a girls weekend at Peddlers Inn. We were greeted by fresh Mums, a casserole, lots of breakfast goods, and even s’mores. The cabin is beautiful, cozy, and very rustic. The beds were very comfortable. Only 30 minute drive to Red River Gorge.

Amazing!

This is going to be our new place to stay every time we come to the gorge. It was a beautiful home with lots of room and places to hang out. Great screened room on the back and super quiet location. Owner was super helpful and easy to communicate with!

Family Reunion

Our stay worked out very well. There was plenty of room to have a family reunion, with lots of yard space for the kids to play outside. The owner was very thoughtful with the items she made available, from breakfast food in the kitchen to new toothbrushes in the bathrooms. We are definitely interested in booking again.

Well equipped cabin

Great kitchen and fire pit. The hostess provided breakfast and one meal along with toiletries (toothbrushes,etc). You typically don’t see that type of attention to detail with other VRBO properties.

Left without staying. House had not been cleaned from prior users - dirty beds, towels, kitchen. Dirty dishes in sink. Feces on the toilet. Food on the floor and on table. What appeared to be mouse droppings inside refrigerator and elsewhere in house. House smelled horrible - like moldy towels - likely because there was an entire load of moldy towels in the washing machine. WiFi did not work. No laundry detergent to try to fix the situation. Host completely non responsive - it has been 3 days and we still have not heard from the host. Working on a full refund - host has not responded following numerous messages from guests and VRBO. Reading back through all reviews, this is not the first time house has been filthy with host non responsive. DO NOT STAY HERE. Unrelated to cleanliness, house is 30-40m from Slade on an unlit twisty road and very dim lighting inside house. Also, picture does not accurately depict the property - there is no driveway or parking area - it is all grass, so it seems you are driving onto the front lawn.

Great weekend

We loved the cabin, a little sad we didnt get the yummy check in dinner and breakfast goodies everyone was talking about, but of well. The cabin is amazing, had plenty of room for us, very comfy beds and pillows. Coffee maker was broken, but we managed. We loved everything about it. We will for sure be back

Wooded Retreat

Spacious cabin located in a remote wooded location providing the perfect retreat from life's busy demands. The screened in porch was the perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee, an afternoon read, or to have late night conversations. The property came stocked with all the staples and then some. We enjoyed reading books and playing games that were plentiful around the house.

Like visiting at a friend’s home

Mary and Jim opened their home and provided all the comforts - just as if they would if they were here with us. From toiletries, to a stocked wood fire and fire ring to a welcome meal and breakfast essentials, we felt like we were visiting friends. Easy parking, interesting decor, things to do that we didn’t need to pack. What a wonderful experience! Thank you!

Prefect retreat for our Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family!

This cabin is about a 30 minute drive from Natural Bridge/Gorge/and Miguel’s Pizza. It is very secluded with a short hiking trail at the rear of the property. The cabin is cozy and rustic. The decor is very eclectic and really cool! The cabin was stocked with most everything you would need (shampoo, first aid, breakfast, etc etc). Which is a good thing because once you get to the cabin, you don’t want to leave. The cabin is very spacious and comfortably can accommodate 6 people! The host was extremely helpful and we appreciate that they allow pets! We would definitely stay again!

Peaceful getaway

This cabin was beautiful and the host outdid herself with all of the food that she left. The upstairs is a little dark but we spent most of our time downstairs. There were little hairs all inside the bathtub upstairs that I cleaned out before we used the tub but besides that the cabin was so nice. I loved reading about its history in the article hung on the wall in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a peaceful place to relax away from home.

Convenient place for exploring the Red River Gorge

This cabin is a remarkable piece of history. The kitchen was amazing. Rarely do I stay in a rental with the option of cooking in cast iron like I do at home. It is in a very rural area, and we really enjoyed sitting on the deck before sunset and watching deer and bunnies. We were able to access all of the Rest River Gorge trails that we wanted to traverse. The only reason that the location was not a five is that it is a drive to go anywhere. We hope to be able to visit again one day.

Staying at a friend’s cabin!

What a gem! a fantastic home being shared with us! How fortunate we were to be able to enjoy a great home, tucked into the woods and close to awesome hiking trails! You can feel the love of the homeowner in this property - this isn’t a business, it’s an act of love! Every detail is thoughtful. For the past 20 years my husband and I have owned an inflight catering business in Lexington Ky. I inherited the Peddler's Fork Inn several years ago and after a three year renovation I am happy to offer it for rent.
I grew up an Air Force Brat and have lived all over the world. My father General James Little grew up not far from here and returned to hand build this cabin upon
his retirement.
